ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the effect of modified Xiao Wuweizitang combined with massage manipulation on chronic post-infection cough (syndrome of wind-pathogenic pulmonary embedding), and immunity and inflammatory factors. Method: One hundred and thirty-five patients were randomly divided into control group and observation group by random number table. Patients (59 cases) in control group got Suhuang Zhike capsules, 1 granule/time for 3 to 6-year-old children, 2 granules/time, 3 times/days for 6 to 12-year-old children, and massage manipulation, 1 time/day. Patients (63 cases) in observation group got modified Xiao Wuweizitang combined with massage manipulation. A course of treatment was 10 days. Before treatment, and at the 5th and 10th day after treatment, visual analogue score of cough (VAS), cough symptom, syndrome of wind-pathogenic pulmonary embedding and leicester cough questionnaire (LCQ) were scored. And levels of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+, interleukin-8, IL-4, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) were detected. Result: At the 5th and 10th day after treatment, scores of VAS, cough symptom and syndrome of wind-pathogenic pulmonary embedding in observation group were lower than those in control group (Pχ2=7.513,Pχ2=4.356, PPPα, IL-8, IL-4, CGRP and SP were lower than those in control group (PConclusion: Modified Xiao Wuweizitang combined with massage manipulation can relieve cough symptom, shorten the cough course, increase rate of the disappearance of cough, improve the quality of life of children, regulate immune function of children, reduce airway inflammation, airway hyperresponsiveness and cough reflex sensitivity.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of addition and subtraction therapy of Xuanshen Ganju Tang combined with Sanniutang to post infection cough (PIC) with lung injury caused by dryness and heat, and investigate its effects on allergic inflammation and neurogenic inflammatory mediators.Method: One hundred and eighty eligible patients with PIC were randomly divided into control group (58 cases) and observation group (122 cases) according to the visiting sequence. Patients in control group got compound methoxyphenamine capsules, 2 capsules/time and tid. Patients in observation group got addition and subtraction therapy of Xuanshen Ganju Tang, combined with Sanniutang, 1 dose/day. The treatment course was 7 days in both groups. Symptom scores for cough (day and night), visual analogue scale of coughing (VAS) and scores for lung injury caused by dryness and heat injury were graded. Time to relieve a cough, time to relieve symptoms, time to vanish cough, and cough recurrence were recorded. Life quality was evaluated by cough-specific quality of life questionnaire (CQLQ), and the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, IL-8 and substance P in sputum neurogenic inflammatory mediators (SP), neuropeptide A (NKA) and calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) were detected.Result: Ridit analysis showed that the clinical efficacy in observation group was better than that in control group (PPPPα, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, SP, NKA and CGRP in observation group were all lower than those in control group (PConclusion: Addition and subtraction therapy of Xuanshen Ganju Tang combined with Sanniutang can control systems of cough, shorten coughing course, reduce recurrence rate, improve patients' life of quality, and can inhibit allergic inflammation and neurogenic inflammatory mediators in the treatment of PIC with symptom of lung injury caused by dryness and heat, with a better clinical efficacy than pure compound methoxyphenamine capsules.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe and compare the incidence of cough among patients with post-infection cough undergoing painless gastroscopy. Methods Seventy-one patients with post-infection cough undergoing painless gastroscopy were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups. The observation group (34 cases) received budesonide nebulization before gastroscopy and the control group (37 cases) was performed gastroscopy directly. We observed the incidence of cough at different time point and the changes of circulationduring the operation. Results The incidence of cough between the observation group and the control group showed statistically significant differences (P<0.01) . The changes of circulation showed statistical differences between two groups in the process of gastroscopy (P<0.05).Conclusion Budesonide nebulization supplying can decrease the incidence of post-in-fection cough among patients undergoing painless gastroscopy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the relationship between clinical features of infantile cough after infection and microelements in peripheral blood, and to observe the therapeutic of treating this cough with Milkvetch Root and Radix Glycyrrhizae. Methods 75 infantile patients were randomly recruited into a therapeutic group and a reference group. 39 patients in the therapeutic group were treated with Huangqi Zhusheye and Tablete Glycyrrhiza, while 36 patients in the reference group were treated with Azithromycin. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after the treatment. Meanwhile, microelements in peripheral blood of the 75 patients were assayed and made a contrast to 40 healthy children. Results The contents of Fe, Zn, and Mg in peripheral blood of the 75 patients dropped on different levels, comparing to the healthy children. The therapeutic effects of the therapeutic group was much better than the reference group with significant difference (P<0.05).Liver and renal functional lesion was unseen in both groups after the treatment. Conclusion Infantile past-infection cough may related with the decrease of Mg, Fe, and Zn. Combined usage of Milkvetch Root and Radix Glycyrrhizae clinically has good therapeutic effects to this disease.
