ABSTRACT
Objective:To develop a professional grief scale for medical postgraduate students(PGS-MPS) and test its reliability and validity.Methods:Based on the integrated model of professional grief, the initial item pool was formed after literature analysis, semi-structured interviews, group discussion, and 5 experts were invited to assess the relevance of the items and provided revision suggestion.A total of 506 valid questionnaires were collected.SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 26.0 were used to test its reliability and validity.Results:The PGS-MPS included 41 items, including the professional grief reaction subscale and disenfranchised grief subscale.The professional grief reaction subscale included emotional reaction (14 items), physiological and cognitive reaction (20 items), and the cumulative variance contribution rate of the two factors model was 52.908%.Disenfranchised grief subscale included 7 items, with a single dimension and a variance contribution rate of 51.730%.Confirmatory factor analysis indicated the model fitting well.The Cronbach’s α coefficients for the professional grief reaction subscale and disenfranchised grief subscale were 0.947 and 0.850, respectively.Conclusion:The PGS-MPS has good reliability and validity and can be used to evaluate professional grief of medical postgraduate students.
ABSTRACT
Objective:To investigate the quality issues in medical reviews written by medical postgraduate students, and to provide a reference for improving the quality of medical reviews written by such students.Methods:A total of 141 medical reviews written by the medical postgraduate students from various affiliated hospitals of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from 2018 to 2022 were collected, and the quality of these medical reviews was evaluated in terms of topic selection and writing expression skills. As for topic selection, a self-designed innovative questionnaire (hereinafter referred to as topic questionnaire) was used to collect the evaluation of external experts, and as for writing expression, the reviews were assessed based on the criteria in relevant literature from the aspects of the outline of the review, the timeliness of references, analysis and evaluation, and the quality of the text. EPIDATA 3.2 was used to input data, and SPSS 20.0 was used for the chi-square test.Results:A total of 135 (96%, 135/141) valid questionnaires were collected in this study, and the results showed that 70% (94/135) of the review topics lacked novelty. The assessment of writing skills showed that 95% (128/135) of the reviews had outdated references, and 68% (92/135) lacked focus, hierarchy or logic in outline, which accounted for a higher proportion than the reviews with analysis and evaluation issues (59%, 80/135) and text quality issues (61%, 83/135) ( P<0.05). Conclusion:There are many quality issues in the medical reviews written by medical postgraduate students, such as a lack of novelty in topic selection and low overall quality of outlines. In order to improve the abilities of scientific research among medical postgraduate students, universities and supervisors should strengthen the guidance of innovative thinking in topic selection and enhance the training of writing expression skills, such as scientific analysis and logic.
ABSTRACT
Based on the information of China Postgraduate Admissions Information Network and the official website of the enrollment unit, this study statistically analyzed the enrollment of master's and doctoral students in the first-level discipline of public health and preventive medicine in China in 2022. The results showed a regional imbalance in the enrollment of postgraduate students of public health and preventive medicine, research fields to be further expanded, a lack of international top colleges or institutions for public health and preventive medicine postgraduate cultivation, a weakening phenomenon in the cultivation of postgraduates related to infectious disease prevention and control, and the interdiscipline to be further strengthened. It is suggested to pay attention to the regional balance in the enrollment of public health and preventive medicine postgraduate students; the research field of postgraduate enrollment in public health and preventive medicine should be further expanded; the high-level public health colleges constructed needs to attach importance to postgraduate enrollment and cultivation, and to balance infectious and non-infectious disease research; public health and preventive medicine should be combined with life science, biosafety/biosecurity, and social sciences.
ABSTRACT
In the current scientific research training of the academic postgraduate students majoring in clinical laboratory diagnostics, there are many problems including insufficient scientific research level, poor scientific research environment and so on. Based on many years of experience on cultivating postgraduate students and starting from the five factors of 4M1E (man, machine, material, method and environment) method, a scientific strategy is proposed, and then the scientific research ability and level of academic postgraduate students majoring in clinical laboratory diagnostics could be improved by exerting its own self-motivation, strengthening the guidance of tutors, improving training tools, heightening scientific thinking, and enhancing environmental friendliness of scientific research.

Objective To design and conduct objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) in professional postgraduates in obstetrics and gynecology, and to investigate the improvement measures for the teaching of professional postgraduates in obstetrics and gynecology by analyzing the performance of postgraduates in OSCE. Methods In October 2017, OSCE was performed for postgraduates in obstetrics and gynecology in the classes of 2016 and 2017 to evaluate their clinical ability. This OSCE consisted of the following four aspects: inquiry of standardized patients, basic practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology, utilization and interpretation of auxiliary examinations, and case analysis. The postgraduates were scored according to the following six items: doctor-patient communication skills, completeness of inquiry, basic practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology, utilization of auxiliary examinations, competence of clinical thinking, and mastery of medical knowledge. SPSS 18.0 was used for statistical analysis, and the t-test was used for comparison between groups . Results A total of 27 postgraduates participated in this OSCE . Among the six scoring items, completeness of inquiry had the lowest score (78 ±6), and utilization of auxiliary examinations had the highest score (85±3). Among the 27 postgraduates, 7 (25.9％) lacked doctor-patient communication skills, 6 (22.2％) showed serious problems in basic practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology, and 6 (22.2％) lacked the scientific thinking of clinical diagnosis. Conclusion In the training of professional postgraduate students in obstetrics and gynecology, doctor-patient communication skills and clinical thinking should be emphasized, and basic clinical skill training should be strengthened.

Introduction: Assessment drives learning. It serves as a tool for student motivation, retention & transfer of learning. At our institute we have started postgraduate formative assessment as a part of improvement in teaching learning in postgraduate study. Method: Present quantitative, cross-sectional study was conducted at Government Medical College, Bhavnagar. During 2013-14, 75, third-year post graduate students of different 20 department of the Government Medical College, Bhavnagar had been assessed in this manner. The instrument (questionnaire) was distributed to all of these students. Result: The majority of students (92.96%) are of opinion that exam was well organised, 90.14% felt that it has gave confidence in them for their subject. More than 85% agreed that formative assessment has motivated them to learn subject more (88.73%) either by stimulating learning (87.32%) or by identifying the deficiencies in learning (85.92%). Regarding content of assessment, students were of opinion that assessment were focused on leaning objective (87.32%) and having broad coverage of subject (85.32%) leading to increase competence in respective subject. Conclusion: Feedback was pivotal in establishing important dialogue between students and teachers, creating a student-supported learning environment. Emphasis has been placed on front loading formative approaches in the first semester to ensure that students actively engage with feedback and act on it to feed forward, and develop transferable and metacognitive skills to facilitate both transition and academic progression.

The cultivation of clinical ability is also very important for postgraduate students in neurosurgery besides the cultivating of innovative scientific research ability and the quality-ori-ented education.We think that attention should be paid to issues such as emphasizing the educa-tion in humanities and the cultivation of good medical ethics and medical style,stressing the training of medical communication capability,re-teaching of basic neurosurgical knowledge,im-proving basic clinical skills,and strengthening the cultivation of scientific clinical thinking.

With the rapid development of neurosurgery,requirement for neuroanatomy is increasing in clinical practice.The authors made a primary exploration on how to teach focal neuroanatomy for neurosurgical postgraduate students.The idea of asking the students to draw focal anatomy was suggested by the author with the purpose of making them learn it positively.Software workstation and clinical neuroradiological work-ups such as MRI and DSA were also applied and evaluated.The authors proposed all these procedures be helpful for comprehending neuroanatomy.

Objective To probe the essential aspect and its counter measure in training clinical medical postgraduate students.Methods Based on the review of recently publish papers related and teaching practice for years,the standpoint is put on the need of students in their long-term career after receiving degree.Results Medical ethics and medical information education should be the key point in the teaching plan.Teaching the students in accordance with their apti-tude should be based on their long-term need and the supervisors should be glad for and skilful at education.To put more cost of scientific research to students is in keeping with the China’s na-tional policy of invigorating the country through science and technology.Writing clinical case reports ought to be encouraged.Conclusion The noble medical ethics is the motivation force of gaining consummate medical skill.Up-to-date medical information and skill are the necessary capability in getting new knowledge and bringing forth new ideas.Writing case reports is to keep with the reality of students and may deepen the results of clinical observation and accumulate more data on typical case as well as give the bases to further research.
