ABSTRACT

With ageing of the population, it is estimated that the percentage of old people aged above 65 years old will be approached to 30% in China by 2035. This presents a considerable challenge to geriatric burn treatment, as elderly burn patients have more serious injuries, longer hospital lengths of stay, and higher rates of complications and mortality. In this article, we analyze the current status of burns in the elderly in China and the factors contributing to the outcome of the elderly, and put forward therapeutic strategies so as to improve the level of prevention and treatment of burns in the elderly.

ABSTRACT

The subnational health systems in the intermediate and local population-spaces were defined; among them, the municipal or community ones have restricted level of competence and decision-making capacities. The subnational space (states or provinces) is a fundamental structure of health management for the prevention and care of cardiovascular problems. The high cost of disease, death and expenses from cardiovascular diseases requires sound health response. To this end, five recommendations were suggested to strengthen the managing teams of the subnational systems for medical care and prevention of cardiovascular diseases: 1. Assured coverage and universal equal access to programs and services by the population; 2. Organization of the network for caring of cardiovascular diseases; 3. Generation and management of intersectoral intervention strategies; 4. Continuing education of human resources and 5. Monitoring of cardiovascular diseases progression and their determinants to detect opportunely negative tendencies, care requirements, divisions among several population groups and gaps between the supply and the demand

ABSTRACT

This work focuses on a discussion about the extent to which the level of organizational structure interferes in the internal control practices of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), especially those related to health. The objective of this work was to observe the efficiency of the internal control tests applied within the organizational structure of the Foundation for Cancer Research, Prevention and Care, checking the reliability of the accounting records and operational controls. A case study in a third sector health organization was the chosen methodology. The case study involved company interviews and the analysis of confidential reports. After an evaluation of the organizational structure (of the relations between officials and volunteers) and the application of evaluation proceedings on the quality of the internal controls, the extent to which the organizational structure interferes with the internal control practices of the hospital was assessed. It was revealed that there are structured mechanisms of control in the institution, however the implementation of these controls is inadequately performed. It was further detected that the level of the organizational structure does indeed interfere in internal control practices at the entity.
