ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the intervention effect of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) health education on primary students. Methods Using random cluster sampling, five towns were selected from five directions and a primary school was selected in every town in 2017.Health education was carried out to 1 505 students from grade 4 to grade 6.After 5 months intervention, the IDD awareness rate and the change in attitude were compared before and after the intervention. Results After the health education,IDD awareness rate and correct answer rate among students were all improved from 60.29% (9 032/14 980),60.83% (4 556/7 490) to 84.64% (12 653/14 950),83.05% (6 208/7 475),with statistically significant differences (x2 =2 221.33,915.01,P < 0.01).Conclusion Health education and intervention is an effective measure to improve the knowledge level of the IDD prevention control among primary students in Cixi City.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of combined exercise program ( fun game + rope skip-ping + figure running) on executive function ( EF) in primary students with Chinese learning difficulties. Methods Fifty-four Chinese learning disabled students were selected and randomly divided into experimen-tal group and control group. Three tasks ( the Flanker task, the 1-back task and the More-odd shifting task) were used to measure pupil’ s EF ( inhibition, updating, shifting) . Results ( 1) Compared with the control group, the primary students with Chinese learning difficulties in experimental group showed a significant en-hancement in executive function (F(1,43)=9.45, P0.05) and shifting(F(1,43)=2.57, P>0.05). Conclusion The effect of combined exercise program ( fun game+rope skipping+figure running) plays a positive role in promoting updating function of primary school students with Chinese learning difficulties.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the status of social anxiety and study the relationship between social anxiety and self-consciousness,self-esteem among primary students.MethodsUsing stratified randomization sampling method,568 primary students in grade 4 ~ 6 were investigated with social anxiety scale for children( SASC ),self-consciousness scale for children(PHCSS) and self-esteem scale(SES).Results①The score of SASC in the group of primary students was obviously higher than that of Chinese norm (P<0.01).②The SASC and negative evaluation scores in the female were higher than the male (P < 0.05 ),the negative evaluation scores in the sixth grade (3.22 ± 2.82) was higher than the fifth grade (2.53 ± 2.76,P < 0.01 ) and fourth grade ( 2.54 ± 2.68,P< 0.05 ).The primary students in migrant workers elementary school, the single parent family and the relatively low income family had higher social anxiety scores than others(P<0.05 ).③The SASC and two major factors were significantly negative correlated with the self-consciousness and each subscale( r =-0.202 ~ -0.511,P < 0.01 ),and positive correlated with the self-esteem( r =0.282,0.270,0.305,P < 0.01 ).④)The anxiety and gregariousness had significant prediction function of 25.5% on negative evaluation, and 28.2% on SASC,anxiety, gregariousness, intelligence and school situation had significant prediction function of 20.4% on social avoidance and distress.ConclusionsPrimary students in grade 4 ~ 6 existed social anxiety. There are significant differences for their level of anxiety in different gender, grade, elementary school, family structure, monthly income. And social anxiety is closely related to self-consciousness and self-esteem.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the point prevalence rate of social anxiety disorder (SAD) in Chengdu primary school, and analyze the influencing factors. Methods Data came from a large representative sample of Chengdu 1441 primary school students, who were selected by stratified cluster sampling methods. They then finished self-compiled questionnaire, strengths and difficulties questionnaire, Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) (age 7 ~ 15 ), Egma Minnen ay Bardndosnauppforstran (EMBU) respectively. And then they had the face to face interviews with the trained psychiatrists, according to development and well - being assessment ( DAWBA,Chinese Version). Results Among 1441 Chengdu primary students, 37 of them were diagnosed SAD,with a point prevalence of 2.6% totally. The point prevalence was different in each grades, for 2.7% in grade 3,4. 1% in grade 4,4.1% in grade 5,3.5% in grade 6( z= -2.3, P=0. 023 ). Compared with the normal counterparts ,the SAD students had statistically significance different in pro-socialization ( z = -2. 1, P = 0.035 ), affection(z=- 5.2, P = 0. 001 ) , moral conduct ( z = - 2.8, P = 0. 004 ), peer( z = - 3.1, P = 0.002 ), excessive interference of maternal education ( z = - 3.1, P = 0.002 ), introversion-extroversion ( z = - 2. 0, P = 0. 046 ), neuroticism ( z =- 3.5, P= 0. 000), concealing tendency ( z= - 2.3, P= 0.018 ). Logistic regression analysis showed that: grade, family location, habitual lifestyle over the past years more emotional problem and excessive interference of maternal education were related with SAD occurrence. Conclusion The point prevalence rate of social anxiety disorder among Chengdu primary students is 2.6% ,and it was influenced by a number of factors .
