Dr. C. Oscar Alonso Chil: ejemplo de consagración a la medicina cubana / Dr. C. Oscar Beto Alonso Chil: an example of dedication to the Cuban medicine

El Dr. C. Oscar Beto Alonso Chil, se graduó de Doctor en Medicina en 1954, fue uno de los médicos que no emigraron del país al triunfo de la Revolución. Se dedicó por entero al desarrollo de su especialidad: Medicina Interna; logró el Segundo Grado de especialización. Incansable investigador, consagró su vida y saberes a poner siempre en alto el nombre de la Medicina Cubana participando en eventos de prestigio nacional e internacional, como miembro de organizaciones y asociaciones de gran importancia tanto dentro como fuera del país y dirigiendo investigaciones con notables resultados. Fue propuesto para la categoría de Académico de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba. No menos importante ha sido su labor docente como Profesor Titular de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana, Profesor de Mérito y Consultante. A lo largo de su trayectoria ha tutorado disímiles trabajos de pre y postgrado en su especialidad. Este educador mantuvo siempre un gran espíritu de sacrificio y dedicó la mayor parte de su carrera a su desarrollo científico y labor educativa los que le aportaron un gran reconocimiento, prestigio y admiración dentro de la comunidad de estudiantes y colegas.

Oscar Beto Alonso Chil, PhD in Medicine, graduated as a Doctor of Medicine in 1954, being one of the physicians who did not leave the country after the triumph of the Revolution. He dedicated his whole life to the development of his specialty, Internal Medicine, achieving the second degree of specialization. He was a tireless researcher who devoted his life and knowledge to set the name of the Cuban Medicine at a very high level during his participation in prestigious National and International events, as a member of very important organizations and associations both inside and outside the country, and carrying out the supervision of investigations with excellent results. He was nominated for the category of academician of the Cuban Academy of Sciences. Equally important was his teaching work as a full professor of the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, Professor Emeritus and Consultant. In the course of his teaching life he was the tutor of numerous undergraduate and postgraduate studies of his specialty. A great spirit of sacrifice prevailed in this educator who dedicated most of the time of his career to his scientific development and teaching labor which gave him a great recognition and the prestige and admiration among students and colleagues.

Formación docente, científica y académica en los profesores consultantes de la Facultad de Estomatología en Santiago de Cuba / Teaching, scientific and academic training of consultant professors from the Stomatology Faculty in Santiago de Cuba

Introducción: El profesor, docente o enseñante es quien se dedica profesionalmente a la enseñanza y, además, a la transmisión de valores de conducta, técnicas y conocimientos; facilita el aprendizaje para que el alumno lo alcance de la mejor manera posible. Objetivo: Describir las características fundamentales de las funciones y el trabajo de profesores consultantes. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en la Clínica Estomatológica Provincial Docente Mártires del Moncada de Santiago de Cuba, durante diciembre de 2018, cuyo universo estuvo formado por los 29 profesores consultantes, adjuntos a la Facultad de Estomatología hasta ese año. Como variables de interés se consideraron la edad, el sexo, la especialidad, la categoría docente y su año de otorgamiento, así como los grados académico y científico. Resultados: Los años con mayor asignación de profesores titulares y auxiliares fueron 1998 y 2009, respectivamente. En general, la mayoría de los docentes correspondieron al grupo etario de 65-70 años y al sexo femenino, en tanto la categoría de profesor auxiliar la ostentaban 82,8 % y la de titular 17,2 %. En cuanto al grado académico, el mayor número de profesores titulares y auxiliares eran especialistas de segundo grado, muy pocos de los docentes titulares habían cursado maestrías y ninguno de los profesores auxiliares había optado por el doctorado. Conclusiones: La condición especial de profesor consultante representa y continúa siendo un reconocimiento a la labor académica desplegada en la asesoría de las tareas docentes, asistenciales e investigativas durante la vida profesional.

Introduction: The professor, teaching staff or teacher is the one professionally devoted to teaching and, also, to the transmission of behavior values, techniques and knowledge; that facilitates learning so that the student reaches it in the best possible way. Objective: To describe the fundamental characteristics of consultant professors functions and work. Methods: A descriptive study was carried out in Mártires del Moncada Teaching Provincial Stomatologic Clinic in Santiago de Cuba, during December, 2018, which universe was formed by the 29 consultant professors, associated to the Stomatology Faculty until that year. The age, sex, specialty, teaching category and granting year were considered as variables of interest, as well as the academic and scientific degrees. Results: The years with more assignment of associate or instructor professors were 1998 and 2009, respectively. In general, most of the teaching staff corresponded to the 65-70 age group and the female sex, as long as instructor professor category constituted the 82.8 % and associate professor 17.2 %. As for the academic degree, the highest number of associate and instructor professors was second degree specialists, very few of the associate professors had studied masters degrees and none of the instructor professors had applied for the doctorate. Conclusions: The special condition of consultant professor represents and still is a recognition to the academic work showed in the consultancy of the teaching, assistance and investigative tasks during the professional life.

Dr. Alfredo Rodríguez Pérez. Médico al servicio de la Revolución / Doctor Alfredo Rodríguez Perez. A revolution´s serve doctor

Es un necesidad que las nuevas generaciones de profesionales de la salud cubanos cuenten, como legado imperecedero, con el conocimiento, la admiración y el respeto por la vida, trayectoria, obra y huella de una generación de médicos formados con la Revolución, y que han brindado, con hermosos gestos y consagración, lo mejor de sí. Es el caso del Dr. Alfredo Rodríguez Pérez, Profesor Consultante en Obstetricia y Ginecología de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas "Finlay-Albarrán". Con ese propósito, apoyados en su testimonio, la revisión de documentos y su obra escrita, se logró reconocer su trayectoria como estudiante, soldado, médico, profesor, internacionalista, asesor, en fin como un hombre cuya única gloria verdadera ha estado en los servicios prestados a la Revolución.

It is a necessity that the new generations of cuban professionals of health have, as a permanent legacy, the knowledge, admiration and respect, for the life and results of the professional development of a generation of doctors in medicine formed by the Revolution, that have given with beautiful acts and consagration the gest of themselves, which is the case of Dr. Alfredo Rodríguez Pérez, Consultant Professor in Obstetric and Gynecology, of the Faculty of Medical Science "Finlay-Albarrán". With that purpose and supported on his testimony and documents of his written work, it was possible to recognize his trajectory as student, soldier, doctor in medicine, professor, internationalist, adviser, in conclusion, a man that his only really glory has been the services to the Revolution.
