ABSTRACT

Graxains-do-campo habitam o centro-leste da América do Sul, desde o sudeste do Brasil e leste da Bolívia. A displasia renal compreende um espectro de anomalias e é frequentemente relatada em cães de diversas raças, sendo a maioria dos relatos achados de necropsia. A maior parte das doenças renais congênitas nos cães apresenta caráter progressivo, portanto o tratamento é limitado e direcionado a fim de retardar a progressão da doença renal estabelecida. No presente relato é descrita a realização de nefrectomia laparoscópica em graxaim-do-campo (Pseudalopex gymnocercus) com displasia renal. Suspeitou-se de doença no rim direito por meio de ultrassonografia e urografia excretora. Para o procedimento cirúrgico foram utilizados três portais (10, 10, 5mm), endoscópio rígido de 10mm/0(0) e clipes para hemostasia dos vasos renais. A técnica cirúrgica utilizada neste canídeo selvagem foi semelhante à usada em cão doméstico, devido à escassez de relatos em cirurgias em graxaim e a inexistência de descrições de nefrectomia videolaparoscópica em graxaim-do-campo. O animal foi acompanhado por um período de 30 dias pós-cirurgia sem a ocorrência de complicações. Pampas fox (Pseudalopex gymnocercus) inhabits east-central South America, from southern Brazil to eastern Bolivia. The renal dysplasia comprises a spectrum of abnormalities and is often reported in dogs of various breeds; but this disease reports involve mostly necropsy findings. Congenital renal diseases in dogs have a progressive character, so that treatment is limited and directed to retard the disease. This report describes a laparoscopic nephrectomy in pampas fox with renal dysplasia. Right kidney disease was suspected by ultrasound and intravenous urography. For the surgical procedure we used three portal accesses (10, 10, 5mm), rigid endoscope 10mm/0(0) and clips for hemostasis of the renal vessels. Due the absence of reports of laparoscopic nephrectomy in pampas fox and scarcity of surgical techniques for this species, the operative technique used was similar to that used in the domestic dog. The pampas fox was monitored for 30 days after surgery without the occurrence of complications. ABSTRACT

The exposure of 13 Brazilian free-ranging nondomestic canids (five pampas fox - Pseudalopex gymnocercus and eight crab-eating fox -Cerdocyon thous) from Southern region of Brazil, to Canine distemper virus (CDV), canine parvovirus (CPV) and Canine coronavirus (CCoV) was investigated. Antibodies against CDV were detected in 38.5 percent (5/13) of the samples. There were anti-CDV antibodies in 60 percent (3/5) of P. gymnocercus and in 25 percent (2/8) of C. thous. The frequency was higher among the adults and males. Eleven canids (84.6 percent) presented antibodies against CPV, 80 percent (4/5) were from P. gymnocercus and 87.5 percent (7/8) were from C. thous. There was no difference in positivity rate against CPV between gender and age. Antibodies against CCoV were detected in 38.5 percent (5/13) of the samples, with 60 percent (3/5) of positivity in P. gymnocercus and 25 percent (2/8) in C. thous. The frequency of antibodies against CCoV was higher among the adults and males. The study showed that these canids were exposed to CDV, CPV and CCoV.


Foi investigada a ocorrência de exposição em 13 canídeos não domésticos de vida livre (cinco graxains-do-campo - Pseudalopex gymnocercus e oito graxains-do-mato - Cerdocyon thous) da região sul do Brasil ao vírus da cinomose canina (CDV), parvovírus canino (CPV) e coronavírus canino (CCoV). Anticorpos contra o CDV foram detectados em 38,5 por cento (5/13) das amostras. Haviam anticorpos anti-CDV em 60 por cento (3/5) dos P. gymnocercus e em 25 por cento (2/8) dos C. thous. A freqüência foi maior entre machos e adultos. Para CPV, 11 canídeos (84,6 por cento) apresentaram anticorpos, 80 por cento (4/5) eram da espécie P. gymnocercus e 87,5 por cento (7/8) eram C. thous. Não houve diferença de positividade para o CPV entre sexos e idades. Anticorpos contra o CCoV foram detectados em 38,5 por cento (5/13) das amostras, sendo 60 por cento (3/5) de positividade entre os P. gymnocercus e 25 por cento (2/8) entre os C. thous. A freqüência de anticorpos para CCoV foi maior entre os machos e adultos. O estudo revelou que estes canídeos foram expostos ao CDV, CPV e CCoV.

ABSTRACT

Brucella abortus (Br abortus) es una de las principales causas de abortos y pérdidas reproductivas en el ganado bovino. Los fetos abortados y sus fluidos fetales son la mayor fuente de infección. Es así como la enfermedad puede llegar a animales silvestres cuando ingieren esos tejidos. El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar la prevalencia serológica de brucelosis en el zorro gris pampeano (Pseudalopex gymnocercus). Se tomaron muestras de sangre de 41 zorros de la región centro-este de la provincia de La Pampa, Argentina. Para determinar la presencia de anticuerpos específicos contra Br abortus se utilizaron las Pruebas de Polarización de la Fluorescencia (FPA), Seroaglutinación en Microplaca (SAP) y Seroaglutinación en Microplaca con 2-mercaptoetanol (2-ME). Sobre un total de 41 sueros procesados por FPA, en 7 (17,1%) se detectaron anticuerpos contra Br abortus. Sólo 34 sueros fueron analizados por las pruebas de SAP y 2-ME, encontrando 5 (14,7%) y 4 (11,8%) muestras positivas, respectivamente. Los resultados permiten inferir que el zorro gris pampeano es susceptible a infectarse con Br. abortus a una tasa de incidencia importante. Es necesario realizar futuros estudios para establecer el rol del zorro en la transmisión de la enfermedad y sus consecuencias en esta especie.


Brucellosis is produced by several species of Brucella. Brucella abortus causes abortion and reproductive loss in bovine cattle. In the epidemiology of brucellosis, aborted fetus and their fetal fluids are the main source of infection and dissemination. Although the biological cycle and the disease consequences to domestic cattle have been widely studied, it is not the case with wild fauna. The objective of this study was to determine the serologic prevalence to brucellosis in the grey fox of the pampas (Pseudalopex gymnocercus). To that purpose, 41 foxes were sampled in the centre-east area of La Pampa province (Argentina). Blood samples for serologic studies were collected. A test of agglutination in microplate (SAP), another SAP with the addition of 2-mercapto-etanol (2-ME) and a test of polarization of the fluorescence (FPA) were used for the diagnosis of antibodies against Brucella abortus. For this, 17.1%, 14.7% and 11.8% was the prevalence found by FPA, SAP and SAP with 2-ME. More studies will be necessary to know the role of foxes in disease transmission and maintenance as well as the consequence of the diseases in foxes.
