Crítica y empírica: el rol de la psicología en el cambio social / Being critical and empirical: the role of psychology in social change

Este artículo explora el papel de la psicología social analítica y la psicología crítica en los procesos de transformación social. El artículo presenta el debate existente entre las versiones críticas y las versiones positivistas de las ciencias sociales. Posteriormente, se presentan los principales puntos de debate entre estas dos perspectivas con el objetivo de mostrar cómo se complementan en una agenda que contribuya al cambio social y a la construcción de sociedades más justas e incluyentes. En el artículo se describe un giro que se está dando actualmente en los estudios críticos del derecho y que parece evidenciar la necesidad de combinar ambas perspectivas en los procesos de transformación social y activismo político. Finalmente, se ejemplifica cómo ambas perspectivas pueden complementarse en la investigación y transformación social de Colombia.

This article explores the role of both experimental social psychology and critical psychology in the process of social change. It presents the broader debate between both versions of social sciences, and subsequently the main issues that differenciate these two perspectives. By describing the differences between both perspectives, this article aims at showing show how they complement each other within an agenda for social change and the construction of more just and inclusive societies. The article describes a turn in the critical legal studies. This turn consists in that evidence coming from the analytical perspective of the social sciences is being used extensively to support a progressive agenda. Finally, the article exemplifies how both perspectives can complement each other in Colombia’s research agenda for social change.

La fundación de la psicologia social analítica: Fromm y la teoría crítica / The foundation of analytical social psychology: Fromm and critical theory

Exponemos los vínculos entre Psicología Social (PS) y Teoría Critica (TC) que se gestaron en los tiempos de la Escuela de Frankfort (EF). Después damos paso a un estudio del pensamiento de Erich Fromm, científico social que manejo la necesidad de una teoría de la psicología social que abarque: 1) el estudio critico de algunas obras de Freud y Marx; y 2) el dialogo científico entre sociología y psicología. Al final emerge la psicología social analítica autónoma, con objetivos auténticos que la hacen diferente de otras ciencias de lo social, especialmente a otras sociopsicologías.

We expose the links between Social Psychology (PS) and Critical Theory (TC) that were developed during the time of the Frankfort School (EF). Then we give way to a study of the thinking of Erich Fromm, a social scientist who handled the need for a theory of social psychology that encompasses: 1) the critical study of some works by Freud and Marx; and 2) the scientific dialogue between sociology and psychology. In the end, autonomous analytical social psychology emerges, with authentic objectives that make it different from other social sciences, especially other sociopsychologies.
