ABSTRACT

Objective To value different stages of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with the detection of the levels of serum thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP),serum amyloid A (SAA),and C-reactive protein (CRP).Methods A total of 33 patients with COPD during and after hospitalization and 16 healthy controls were enrolled in the study from the 3rd affiliated hospital of SYSU.Differences and correlations of the level of serum TSLP,SAA and CRP were analyzed to value the veracity of those factors in different stages of COPD.Results The levels of CRP and SAA were higher in acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) group than stable COPD group,TSLP was lower in the AECOPD group than the healthy control group (P < 0.05).CRP had a positive correlation with SAA (correlation r =0.546,P =0.000),CRP [area under curve (AUC) =0.797] and SAA (AUC =0.815),and they were statistically significant in identity of different stages of COPD (P < 0.05).Conclusions Serum TSLP level is decreased in acute exacerbation phase of COPD.CRP and SAA are increased in AECOPD.SAA is more confident in identity of different phases of COPD.

ABSTRACT

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic airway diseases, which leads to heavy social and economic burden to our country. We can use serum biomarkers to evaluate diagnosis, classification, treatment and prognosis of COPD.The change of biomarkers provides lots of valuable clinical information.A variety of biomarkers are associated with the severity of lung function, which can be used to judge disease severity. Some indicators are related to the diagnosis of acute exacerbation or hospitalization risk. Some serum markers would guide therapy and can be effectively applied to clinical work.Study of COPD serum biomarkers would provide more reference information for clinical physicians in diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of COPD.

ABSTRACT

Non-coding RNAs that can not encoding RNA protein, mainly include microRNAs and long non-coding RNAs,in bacteria, fungi, mammals, and many other biological activities life play a very wide range of regulatory role.More and more clinical researchers have begun to pay attention to the biological function of the non-coding RNAs and the relationship between the various diseases of the body, and people gradually realized that the study of non-coding RNAs has important significance for understanding human disease control and biological evolution.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical value of serum soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1) in the treatment and therapeutic effect evaluation of patients with an exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods The levels of serum sTREM-1,procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 49 exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) subjects [acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) group],49 stable COPD subjects(sCOPD group) after treatment and 49 healthy volunteers as healthy control group. The levels of sTREM-1,PCT and CRP in different groups were compared and the relationship between the level of sTREM-1 in AECOPD and sCOPD groups, and PCT,and CRP was analyzed, respectively. Results The content of sTREM-1,PCT and CRP between different groups had significant difference(P <0.05).The level of sTREM-1 in both AECOPD and sCOPD groups was significantly positive correlated with PCT (P < 0.05) and negative correlated with CRP (P > 0.05).Conclusions For guiding the treatment and curative effect evaluation of patients with AECOPD,sTREM-1 has important clinical reference value.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship among the concentration of plasma interleukin (IL)-10 and plasma IL-13 and the clinical therapeutic effect in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD).Methods Thirty-six AECOPD inpatients were enrolled in this study.Blood samples of the subjects were collected as soon as hospitalization, and plasma IL-10 and IL-13concentrations were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The clinical manifestations of subjects were quantified by a special designed score standard, and were evaluated at the time points of hospitalization, 48 hours treatment and 96 hours treatment. The therapeutic effect was evaluated by clinical manifestations score combined with pulmonary ventilation functional parameter.Eventually, the correlation among the concentration of IL-10 concentration and IL-13 and the clinical therapeutic effect were analyzed. Results The correlation coefficients between clinical manifestations score decrease and pulmonary ventilation function improvement with plasma IL-10 concentration after 48 hours treatment were 0.85 and 0.48 respectively, then, 0.64 and 0.52 after 96 hours treatment. The correlation coefficients between clinical manifestations score decrease and pulmonary ventilation function improvement with plasma IL-13 concentration after 48hours treatment were -0.41 and -0.34, after 96 hours treatment , correlation coefficients between clinical manifestations score decrease with plasma IL-13 concentration was -0.36.All of the above correlation coefficients were statistically significant. Conclusion Plasma IL-10 concentration was positively, whereas, IL-13 concentration was negatively correlated with the therapeutic effect in AECOPD patients.
