ABSTRACT

The "Mai Dong (bing) Fa" (pathogenesis of channel or meridian disorders) was proposed in the concept by Huangfu MI (from the Jin Dynasty), and was classified and elaborated according to the characteristics and comprehensive analysis of symptoms and signs collected by inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry and pulse taking and palpation in his book Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing (A-B Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion). In-depth exploration on the academic origin of "pathogenesis of meridian disorders" may help us understand the connotation of meridian problems once again. Firstly, when the meridian falls in disorder, resulting in abnormal functional changes and then a series of symptoms and signs arose. Secondly, generally, not just one meridian falls in disorders, but more meridians are simultaneously involved, which needs to be differentiated through comprehensive analysis of the four diagnostic methods and meridian identification. Thirdly, based on the diagnosis of the disorders of the related meridians, appropriate acupoints are selected. Correct understanding about the "pathogenesis of meridian disorders" is definitely helpful to our observation and summarization of modern clinical diseases and theoretical sublimation, and also favorable to guide our clinical practice and clarification of meridian-collateral's implications.

ABSTRACT

Pulse taking, with the unique characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),is one of the important parts of TCM diagnostic methods. It was formed in the clinical practice of TCM famous doctors during the past dynasties. Also,it is an important means of understanding and determining disease and syndrome for TCM practitioners.Pinhu Maixue,a TCM classic of pulse taking which inheriting the traditional pulse taking theory and combining with clinical experience, was written by famous doctor Li Shizhen in the Jiajing Jiazi period of the Ming Dynasty. It has made an important contribution to the inheritance and development of TCM pulse taking. In this article,in order to provide ideas for a comprehensive understanding of the development process of TCM pulse taking, the inheritance and development of Pinhu Maixue from the academic thought of Huangdi Neijing,Nan Jing and Mai Jing was summarized, the academic characteristics of Pinhu Maixue were systematically elaborated, the influence of Pinhu Maixue on the thought of pulse taking and guiding significance of contemporary Chinese medicine clinical practice were analyzed. Thus,it has certain significance to study the academic thought and value of Pinhu Maixue.

ABSTRACT

Pulse-taking, as one of the four diagnostic methods of inspection, auscultation and olfaction, inquiry and pulse-taking, can fully embodies the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine. Pulse-taking is the teaching key point for the international students. However, because the pulsetheory and literature is quite profound and abstract and there is a long distance between the class teaching and clinical practice, the teaching of pulse-taking is also the difficult point for the international students. Therefore, the pulse-taking teaching should focus on the interesting teaching, the culture of traditional Chinese medicine of pulse, image teaching and practice training.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]This paper aimed at discussing the application of pulse in the clinical through the analysis of medical cases by Wang Mengying. [Methods]Revisited the theory and practice of pulse in the medical cases of Wang Mengying and discussed Wang's experience in the clinical application of pulse in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as protration syndrome and cholera.[Results]The pulse is better than the other three in the diagnosis of patients with etiology and pathogenesis.Pulse can reflect the situation of patients ’etiology and pathogenesis. The process of disease can be plumbed through pulse diagnosis. [Conclusion] Ancient doctor attached great importance to the pulse,it can guide our clinical practice better through the study of pulse in modern clinical work.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the relationship among the area of transverse section of radial artery, the major axis length of the ellipse with same centroid as transverse section, the maximum centroid displacement in the direction parallel with skin surface in a cardiac cycle and width of pulse tracing. Methods ECG, pressure phygmograms and ultrasound images of transverse section of radial artery of 40 patients with different width of pulse tracing and 20 healthy persons were collected synchronously with a new-type sphymograph. On the basis of images analysis with MATLAB 7.0.1, image characteristics of transverse section of radial artery and centroid motion locus of pulse tracings with different width in a cardiac cycle were observed and analyzed. Results Between pulse tracings with different width, there were significant differences in the area of transverse section of radial artery, the major axis length of the ellipse with same centroid as transverse section and the maximum centroid displacement in the direction parallel with skin surface in a cardiac cycle. Conclusions The mean, maximum and minimum value of the area of transverse section and the major axis length of ellipse and the maximum centroid displacement can be used to discriminate width of pulse tracing.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the relationship of optimal pulse-taking pressure among cun, guan, chi pulse of of healthy persons.Methods:264 Healthy undergraduate were included and pulse signals were collected from cun, guan, chi in cunkou area. The relationship of optimal pulse-taking pressure among three-region pulse, ratios and body mass index(BMI)were researched. At the same time,to calculate relationship of optimal pulse-taking pressure among cun, guan, chi pulse. Results:The optimal pulse-taking pressure of cun, guan, chi pulse was positively correlated with BMI.The optimal pulse-taking pressure of guan and cun pulse was significantly smaller than that of chi pulse. The optimal pulse-taking pressure of cun pulse is similar to that of guan pulse, which was 90 percents of the chi pulse. Conclusion:There was significant difference in optimal pulse-taking pressure between cun, guan, chi pulse. The result was favourable to the optimizing the program of pulse device, consummating of three-probe pulse sensor and studying pulse thoroughly.

ABSTRACT

Based on the study of four diagnostic methods in Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases, this dissertation analysed the cause of differentiation of syndrome unavailable, and indicated that:differentiation of syndrome unavailable resulted from multi-reasons.The patients who had symptoms and signs but all the modern physics and chemistry index were normal, the data get from traditional four diagnostic methods were useful to discriminate and estimate diseases.Modern physics and chemistry index can help in improving exactitude, but we cannot ignore traditional diagnostic methods.
