ABSTRACT

Pustules in a neonate can be due to various causes. Though the majority of conditions causing pustules in a neonate are benign, it is essential to clearly differentiate these from serious ones. A systematic approach based on detailed history and clinical examination of the neonate along with basic laboratory evaluation narrows down diagnostic possibilities and aids in the correct diagnosis. This review outlines a step-by-step approach so as to avoid clinical dilemmas and unnecessary intervention

ABSTRACT

Abstract During the gallbladder calcifying disease, symptom of yellow-colored pustules was found on many of the patients’ both sides of the tongue and wet pustules on the tongues. The changes on the tongues were confirmed by ultrasound test and comparison with clinical diagnosis and photos were taken. These changes on the tongue are the major indications of gallbladder calcifying disease. Key words:Gallbladder calcifying, symptom of yellow-colored pustules, wet pustules tongue

ABSTRACT

Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is the live attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis that produces resistance to tuberculosis (TB) infection. BCG vaccination may induce various dermatologic complications. A 3-month-old infant who had BCG vaccination a month after birth developed erythematous papules and pustules on the trunk and both extremities. The biopsy from the left leg showed a granulomatous lesion. Acid fast staining and nested TB polymerase chain reaction (TB-PCR) were negative. A tuberculin skin test and an interferon-gamma release assay also revealed a negative result. A painful mass was noted on the left axillary area with a positive-nested TB-PCR and surgical excision was performed. The skin eruptions improved after 2 months of anti-tuberculosis medication. Herein, we report a case of disseminated papules and pustules with lymphadenitis after BCG vaccination.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Sweet syndrome is an acute reactive disorder characterized by the abrupt onset of skin lesions, dense infiltration of neutrophils in the dermis on skin biopsy and associated systemic features such as fever, leukocytosis, and increase of C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. The condition responds well to corticosteroid therapy. Most skin lesions are in the form of erythematous tender papules or nodules, while pustules are uncommon. We herein report a rare case of a 57-year-old male with erythematous tender pustules on the face, finally diagnosed as pustular Sweet syndrome.

ABSTRACT

Kawasaki disease is a disease of unknown etiology affecting infants and young children. The polymorphous exanthem, one of the major clinical manifestations of Kawasaki disease, takes multiple forms including urticarial erythema, scarlatiniform or morbilliform erythema, and erythema multiform- like lesions. Small pustular form, erythema marginatum, diffuse scarlatiniform erythroderma, and perianal rash with a diaper rash-like distribution were rarely described as cutaneous manifestations of this disease. We report a case of Kawasaki disease with small pustules on the trunk and extremities in a 4-year old child.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Mutations in the p53 gene are the most frecjuent genetic alterations found in human cancers to date. Bvidense suggests that wild-type p53 is a tumor suppressor protein, crucial for the negative regulative of cell cycling, and requiring loss of function mutations for tumorigenesis. OBJECTIVE: Our purposr is to investigate the expression pattern of the p53 protein in the squamous cell carcinomas(SCCs) of the human skin. METHODS: We studied p53 protein expression, using DO7 mnoclonal antibody immunohi-stochemistry, in 29 SCCs of the skin. Also, we compared the p53 expression depending upon with or without a history of UV exposure. RESULTS: p53 immunoreactivity was observed in 48% (14 of 29) of SCCs and was not seen in normal skin. In 56% (16/29) SCCs the tumors were developed on UV-light exposure area. SCCs were divided on histopatal biological criteria in to three categories, well, moderately, or poorly differentiated. Although no significant differenie in the prevalence of p53 immunoreactivity was obierved between these groups, positive, strong staining was observed more frequently in poorly differentiated than in well-differe: treated tumors. CONCLUSION: Accumulat,i,on of p53 protein, suggestive in nessary cases of p53 gene mutation and hence loss of tumors upperesor function, may play a role in the tumorigenesis of SCCs.

ABSTRACT

Four clinical patterns of generalized pustular phase were apparent and have been named the Zumbusch, annular, localized and exanthematic types. Other reported 10 types of pustular psoriasis including the poriasis with generalized pustules. We report a case of psoriasis with generalized pustules in a 18-year-old women, who has numerous scattered pustules with mild fever and leukocytosis. She was treated sucessfully with tetracycline 2.0 gm a day for 4 wks.
