ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate sodium hydrogen sulfide(NaHS)with function of regulating glutathione(GSH)synthesis to reduce reactive oxygen species(ROS)production in type 2 diabetic cardiomyopathy(DCM).Methods Mouse cardiomyocyte cell line HL-1 was incubated with high concentration of glucose(HG:40 mmol/L)and palmitate(Pal:500 μmol/L)as a cell model of type 2 DCM.HL-1 cells were incubated with NaHS(100 μmol/L),DL-propargylglycin(PPG,1 mmol/L)and N-acetyl-l-cysteine(NAC,5 mmol/L),respectively for 72 hours. The expression of cystathionine-γ-lyase(CSE)and the key enzymes of glutathione production was tested by Western blot.Dihydroethidium(DHE)and dichlorofluoromethane(DCFH)were used to detect the content of ROS in HL-1 cells.Cell viability was detected by CCK8 kit.The content of total GSH was detected. The interaction between muscle specific ring finger protein 1(Murf1)and nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)and Nrf2 ubiquitylation was determined by co-immunoprecipitation(co-IP).Results Compared with control group, the expression level of CSE,solute carrier family 7 members 11(SLC7A11),glutamate cysteine ligase C(GCLC),glutamate cysteine ligase M(GCLM)and glutathione synthetase(GSS)in HL-1 cells treated incubated with high glucose and palmitate was decreased, however,NaHS was found to restore it.NaHS reduced the content of ROS in HL-1 cells treated with high glucose and palmitate. The interaction between murf1 and Nrf2 was confirmed by co-immunoprecipitation(Co-IP).Compared with NaHS group, the ubiquitylation level of Nrf2 was enhanced in high glucose and palmitate group. Conclusions Sodium hydrosulfide may reduce the ubiquitylation level of Nrf2 and promote the expression of key enzymes of GSH synthesis.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the short-term knee function recovery of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) after discharge and analyze its related factors. MethodsFrom December, 2022 to April, 2023, 140 adult patients who underwent TKA in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital and being about to be discharged were selected as the survey subjects using convenient sampling. Potential influencing factors were selected based on a literature review. They were investigated with general information questionnaire, Rehabilitation Exercise Compliance Scale, Self-Efficacy Scale for Rehabilitation Exercise (SER), Visual Analog Scale for pain (VAS), and joint range of motion measurements before discharge, and were investigated with the Hospital for Special Surgery Knee Score (HSS) one month after discharge. ResultsA total of 130 patients finished follow-up. One month after discharge, the HSS score ranged from 40 to 82, with an average of (70.89±6.26). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that Body Mass Index (B = -0.423, 95%CI -0.622 to -0.224, P < 0.001), pre-discharge VAS (B = -1.016, 95%CI -1.198 to -0.113, P = 0.028), rehabilitation exercise compliance (B = 0.267, 95%CI 0.121 to 0.413, P < 0.001), SER (B = 0.478, 95%CI 0.315 to 0.642, P < 0.001), and knee joint flexion contracture angle (B = -0.251, 95%CI -0.414 to -0.088, P = 0.003) could influence HSS score one month after discharge (R2 = 0.615, F =17.106, P < 0.001). ConclusionPatients after TKA have recovered well in short time after discharge, however, there is still significant room for improvement. Clinical healthcare providers should design and implement appropriate interventions based on related factors to improve the function.

ABSTRACT

ObjectTo explore the risk factors related to the intensity of post-stroke depression in patients with cerebral infarction during hospitalization in the rehabilitation department. MethodsThe hospital consultation records of cerebral infarction patients in Beijing Bo'ai Hospital from December, 2019 to February, 2023 were reviewed from the hospital information system, and those who were diagnosed as depression visited the department of psychology were selected. It was collected including general information of sexes, ages, education levels, matrimony; medical features of course, location, affected side, sensory disorders, aphasia, agrypnia, dysphagia, hand-shoulder syndrome, constipation; functioning of muscle strength and Brunnstrom stages; and scores of Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Balance (FMA-B), modified Barthel Index (MBI) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD). Patients with HAMD scores ≤ 20 were as the low group, and those > 20 were as the high group. ResultA total of 2 403 hospitalized stroke patients were included, out of which 269 patients with cerebral infarction were diagnosed as depression and visited the department of psychology; while 103 cases were in the low group and 166 cases were in the high group. The incidence of constipation was less, and the incidence of dysphagia and shoulder-hand syndrome was higher in the high group (χ2 > 5.379, P < 0.05), with weaker strength of iliopsoas muscle and quadriceps muscle, earlier of Brunnstrom stage of lower extremities and hands, and worse scores of NIHSS, MMSE, FMA, FMA-B and MBI (|Z| > 2.020, t > 2.171, P < 0.05). Logistic regression showed that constipation (OR = 0.435), quadriceps muscle strength (OR = 0.782) and dysphagia (OR = 2.602) related to the intensity of post-stroke depression in convalescent patients (P < 0.05). ConclusionPost-stroke dysphagia and poor quadriceps muscle strength may exacerbate post-stroke depression; however, constipation may not.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the related factors affecting the dose to the small intestine exposure to preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer, aiming to provide reference for alleviating the adverse reactions of radiotherapy for rectal cancer. Methods:Medical record data and radiotherapy plan information of 138 rectal cancer patients who received intensity-modulated arc radiotherapy at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from May 2021 to February 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Tumor staging, tumor location, gender, age, planned bladder volume, body mass index (BMI), and small intestine irradiation dose volume were subject to Spearman correlation analysis. Further grouping and comparison were conducted based on the correlation results. Independent sample non parametric tests were used for inter group comparison. Results:The main factors related to the small intestine irradiation dose volume were tumor location, gender, planned bladder volume, and BMI. Tumor location was weakly correlated with the small intestine V 5 Gy-V 45 Gy. Gender was weakly correlated with the small intestine V 30 Gy-V 45 Gy. Planned bladder volume was weakly negatively correlated with the small intestine V 20 Gy-V 45 Gy. BMI was weakly negatively correlated with the small intestine V 10 Gy-V 45 Gy. Grouping comparison analysis showed that the small intestine V 5 Gy-V 45 Gy of rectal cancer patients in the low position group was significantly smaller than those in the middle and high position groups (both P<0.05), and there was no significant difference between the middle and high position groups ( P>0.05). Female rectal cancer patients had higher V 30 Gy-V 45 Gy levels than male counterparts ( P<0.05). The small intestine V 20 Gy and V 25 Gy levels in the planned bladder volume <200 ml group were significantly higher than those in the 200-400 ml and >400 ml groups (all P<0.05), whereas there was no difference between the 200-400 ml and >400 ml groups ( P>0.05). The small intestine V 30 Gy-V 45 Gy levels in the 200-400 ml group were significantly lower than those in the <200 ml group, but higher than those in the >400 ml group, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). Regarding BMI comparison among groups, the small intestine V 15 Gy-V 45 Gy in the low body weight group was significantly higher than those in the other three groups (all P<0.05). There were no significant differences among the normal, overweight, and obese groups (all P>0.05). Conclusion:In preoperative radiotherapy for rectal cancer, more attention should be paid to the dose to the small intestine in patients with middle and high position rectal cancer, female patients, and patients with low body weight.

ABSTRACT

Background: Nearly one third of people who suffer major psychiatric disorders end up with a long- term disability and dependency. They are most likely to be non-adherent to medication due to various reasons including lack of knowledge or insight about their illness and treatment which in turn leads to exacerbation of their illness, reduce treatment effectiveness, or make them less responsive to subsequent treatment, multiple hospitalizations and poor quality of life. Materials and methods: A cross sectional study was carried out in outpatients attending the Psychiatry OPD using the consecutive sampling technique. Subjects meeting the ICD-10 Diagnostic criteria for psychiatric disorders, age 18 year and above, subjects willing to participate in the study were included. A structured proforma, the Drug attitude inventory and the WHO-QOL-BREF questionnaires were used for assessment. Results: Mean age of subjects = 38.07 + 11.07 years. Mean medication cost = Rs. 917.82 + 397.89. 87 subjects participated in the study and of them 48% were adherent to medication and 52% were non-adherent. 56% of males and 43% females were adherent to medication. There was significant association between the occupation and the type of family of the subjects and medication adherence (p<0.05). Majority of patients with medication non-adherence were seen in schizophrenia, delusional disorder, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and substance related disorder. Majority (44.5%) of them reported fear of side effects, followed by stopping the medication when feeling better (35.5%) as the reasons for non-adherence followed by cost, embarrassment, etc. There was significant association between the psychological and social quality of life and medication adherence (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study implicates the importance of psycho education about the diagnosis, prognosis, need for medication and the expected adverse effects which should be clearly explained to the patient. The therapeutic alliance is the most effective component in helping the patient maintain medication adherence and subsequently better quality of life.

MethodsA total of 60 male patients with complete spinal cord injury (SCI) admitted to Beijing Bo'ai Hospital from November, 2020 to March, 2022 were selected as SCI group, and 30 healthy males were selected as the control group. They were assessed with Montreal Cognitive Assessment Beijing Version (MoCA), Digital Span Test (DST) of Wechsler Memory Scale, Symbol Digit Modalities Test-Oral Version (SDMT), Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test-30 min recall (CFT), Stroop Color-Word Test Chinese Version (CWT), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD). ResultsCompared with the control group, the SDMT and CFT scores were significantly lower (t > 3.052,P < 0.01); the reflect and square root transformation of MoCA score, the square root transformation of Stroop interference effects time consuming, HAMA score and HAMD score were higher (|t| > 2.542, |Z| > 7.676, P < 0.05) in SCI group. Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that age, education level, HAMD score and sleep disorder were significantly correlated with the scores of cognitive function in SCI group. ConclusionThere are more intensive anxiety and depression in patients with complete SCI. The patients with complete SCI present cognitive impairment, especially in information processing speed, visuospatial ability and visual memory, and executive function. Age, education level, depression and sleep disorder are the related factors of cognitive impairment in patients with complete SCI.

ABSTRACT

@#Abstract: Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and related factors of norovirus in Guangxi from 2015 to 2020, and to provide scientific recommendations for norovirus prevention and control. Methods The foodborne diseases surveillance data were collected from 11 sentinel hospitals through the National Foodborne Disease Monitoring and Reporting System from 2015 to 2020. R software with version 4.0.3 was used for descriptive and statistical analysis, including epidemic curve, chi-square test, and trend chi-square and so on. Logistic regression was used to analyze norovirus-related factors, OR values and 95% confidence intervals were calculated respectively with the statistical test level of P<0.05. Results There were 1 008 norovirus cases detected, with a detection rate of 12.75% (1 008/7 903). Children with age less than 5 years (OR=1.43, 95%CI: 1.13-1.82) and patients at age 20-45 (OR=1.45, 95%CI: 1.13-1.87) were high risk population. The detection rate was higher in autumn (OR=1.29, 95%CI: 1.08-1.53) but lower in summer (OR=0.67, 95%CI: 0.55-0.80). In addition, the tourist area (Guilin City) presented a higher detection rate than other areas (OR=1.41, 95%CI: 1.10-1.80). Aquatic products (OR=1.40, 95%CI: 1.03-1.91), meat and dairy products (OR=1.31, 95%CI: 1.06-1.61) were high-risk foods for norovirus infection. The prevention and control policies of COVID-19 can reduce the possibility of norovirus by 61% (OR=0.39, 95%CI: 0.31-0.49) showed a declining trend (Trend χ2=85.33, P<0.001). In addition, prolonged visit time can lead to 19%-23% decrease in the detection rate of norovirus (OR24-48 hours=0.81, 95%CI: 0.70-0.95; OR>48 hours=0.77, 95%CI: 0.63-0.93). Conclusions The epidemic of norovirus presented seasonal and regional distribution in Guangxi with a declining detection rate trend in diarrhea patients during recent 6 years. Young children were high-risk population in infection norovirus. The intake of seafood can increase the risk of norovirus infection. The prevention and control policies of COVID-19 can sharply decrease the possibility of infection norovirus. The monitoring of key foods such as seafood should be strengthened, and the early screening of suspected cases should be taken. The norovirus monitoring should be improved to ensure the health of the population.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To investigate the recurrence of patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) after robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN), and to explore the related factors of recurrence. 【Methods】 Clinical data of 367 RCC patients who underwent RAPN during 2015 and 2020 in our hospital were retrospectively collected. Patients were divided into recurrence group and non-recurrence group. The related factors of recurrence and 5-year cumulative recurrence rate of RCC and clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) in the recurrence group were analyzed. 【Results】 The median follow-up was 48 (IQR:38-60) months. Recurrence occurred in 9 patients, with a 5-year cumulative recurrence rate of 97.5%. For RCC patients, univariate analysis showed that tumor size, T-stage, R. E. N. A. L. score, R value, N value, and operation time were significantly associated with postoperative recurrence (P<0.05), while multivariate analysis showed that N value (HR=15.75, 95%CI:2.00-124.17, P=0.009) was an independent related factor. For ccRCC patients, univariate analysis showed that hypertension, tumor size, T-stage, R. E. N. A. L. score, N value, operation time and WHO/ISUP grade were significantly associated with postoperative recurrence (P<0.05), while multivariate analysis showed that WHO/ISUP grade (HR=4.99, 95%CI:1.04-24.01, P=0.045) was an independent related factor. 【Conclusion】 The 5-year cumulative recurrence rate of RCC patients after RAPN is 2.5%. N value and WHO/ISUP grade are the independent related factor of recurrence of RCC and ccRCC, respectively.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To analyze the related factors of emotional and behavioral abnormalities in children with overactive bladder (OAB). 【Methods】 OAB children (aged 6 to 16 years) in a survey of 5 032 children from a county in Henan Province during Sep.2022 and Dec.2022 were identified and surveyed with Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS), Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ). According to the SDQ score, they were divided into abnormal group (SDQ≥20) and normal group. 【Results】 There were 35.7%(137/385) cases in the abnormal group and 64.3% (248/385) in the normal group. Gender, education level of caregivers, body mass index (BMI), age, constipation, enuresis and severity of OAB were significantly associated with emotional and behavioral abnormalities (P<0.05). Children in the abnormal group showed significant differences in emotional symptoms, conduct problems, hyperactivity symptoms, peer interaction and sleep (P<0.001). Multivariate regression analysis revealed significant differences in gender, educational level of caregi-vers, BMI, age, constipation, enuresis, severity of OAB and PSQI between the two groups (P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 The prevalence of emotional and behavioral abnormalities is high in children with OAB, which is related to female gender, high BMI, puberty, constipation, enuresis and severity of OAB.
