ABSTRACT

@#AIM: To observe the effect of intravitreal injection of ranibizumab in the treatment of retinal vein occlusion macular edema(RVO-ME), and to apply Logistic regression analysis to screen the factors that affect the vision recovery of patients.
METHODS: A total of 106 patients(106 eyes)with retinal vein occlusion and macular edema who were treated in the ophthalmology clinic of our hospital from January 2018 to June 2019 were selected for the study. The clinical data of the patients were retrospectively analyzed and all were given 0.05mL ranibizumab. The monoclonal antibody was injected into the vitreous cavity of the affected eye, and the patients were followed up to observe the treatment effect. The patients were divided into good group and poor group according to the degree of vision recovery after 3mo of treatment, and the two-class Logistic regression analysis was used to screen the factors that affect the vision recovery of patients.
RESULTS: The Logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution(LogMAR)of the affected eye at 1d, 1wk, 1, and 3mo after treatment was significantly lower than before treatment, and the macular foveal retinal thickness(CRT)was significantly lower than before treatment. The difference was statistically significant(all P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in the average intraocular pressure of the affected eye before and after treatment(P>0.05). During and after the treatment, the patient did not develop complications such as endophthalmitis, increased intraocular pressure, lens opacity, and retinal detachment. Logistic regression analysis showed that there was no capillary perfusion in the foveal area of the macula and the center of the macula before treatment. Incomplete outer membrane and incomplete inner plexiform layer structure in the concave area are risk factors that affect the efficacy of ranibizumab injection.
CONCLUSION: Intravitreal injection of ranibizumab in the treatment of retinal vein occlusion combined with macular edema is effective and safe in the short term. It can effectively reduce macular edema of the affected eye, improve vision, and normal intraocular pressure after treatment, and it is easy to operate and effective. It has the advantages of repeating, little damage to tissues, no obvious adverse reactions, less pain for patients, economical and practical. In addition, the lack of capillary perfusion in the foveal area of the macula before treatment, the incomplete outer membrane of the foveal area, and the incomplete structure of the inner plexiform layer are risk factors that affect the efficacy of ranibizumab in the treatment of retinal vein occlusion and macular edema.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the changes of thyroid volume before and after supplementation with lipiodol pills in children with goiter, and to evaluate the recovery effect of lipiodol pills supplementation on children with goiter in the short term. Methods:In October 2018, 4 townships and towns in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture with relatively serious historical conditions and high goiter rate of children aged 8 to 10 were selected for thyroid examination in 19 primary schools within the jurisdiction. Sixty children with goiter were selected as research subjects; at the same time, 138 children of the same age with normal thyroid B-ultrasound examination results were selected as control in the same period. Under the condition of normal diet, children with goiter were intervened by taking 200 mg lipiodol pills at one time. After 6 months, the thyroid volume of children with goiter and control children was measured by B-ultrasound.Results:Fifty-three children with goiter were finally included, with a sex ratio of 1.00 ∶ 1.04 (26 ∶ 27). There were 138 control children in the same period, with a sex ratio of 1.00 ∶ 1.30 (60 ∶ 78). Six months after taking lipiodol pills, the median thyroid volume of children with goiter was 3.7 ml, which was significantly different from that before supplementing with lipidol pills (5.8 ml, Z = - 7.95, P < 0.001), and not significantly different from that of control children (4.1 ml) in the same period ( Z = - 0.91, P = 0.365). Among them, 90.6% (48/53) of children with goiter recovered to the normal range, and 100.0% (15/15), 81.8% (18/22) and 93.8% (15/16) children's thyroid recovered returned to the normal range in the 8-, 9-, and 10-year-old age groups, respectively, and the highest proportion was in the 8-year-old age group. Stratified by age and gender, the thyroid volume of children with goiter in all age groups and gender after supplementation with lipiodol pills was lower than that before supplementation with lipiodol pills ( P < 0.001), but there was no difference compared with the control children in the same period ( P > 0.05). After supplementing with lipiodol pills, the diameters of thyroid in children with goiter were significantly lower than those before supplementing with lipiodol pills ( P < 0.001). Compared with the control children in the same period, there were significant differences in the right width, left length and right long diameter of the thyroid ( P < 0.05). Conclusion:Supplementing lipiodol pills can restore the thyroid volume of 8 - 10 year old children with goiter to normal range in a short term, and can effectively treat simple goiter.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of Ossotide tabletcombined with Xianling gubao capsule on the postoperative recovery effect oftrans-traumatic-verterbrae screw-setting combined with bone grafting in the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolum-bar vertebral fractures. METHODS:122 patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar vertebral fractures who were treated with trans-traumatic-verterbrae screw-setting combined with bone grafting were randomly divided into control group and observation group. The two groups were treated by trans-traumatic-verterbrae screw-setting with bone grafting.Based on this, the control group was treated with 0.3-0.6 g Ossotide tablet, three times a day, taken orally after meals;observation group was additionally treated with 1.5 g Xianling gubao capsule, twice a day, taken orally after meals. Both of the two groups took medicine on the day of oper-ation. A course induded 4 weeks, and it lasted 4 courses. The indexes were observed after 3 and 6 months treatment. The changes of pain score, bone mineral density(BMD)levels, bone gla protein(BGP),bone alkali phsphatase(BALP),procollagen I ntermi-nal peptide (PINP) and other bone metabolism biochemical indexes in 2 groups before and after treatment were observed.Mean-while,the clinical efficacy, rates of thoracolumbar vertebral refractures and incidence of adverse reactions in the 2 groups were re-corded.RESULTS:After treatment, the total effective rate in observation group was significantly higher than control group, pain scores in 2 groups were significantly lower than before, and general decreased by time, observation group was lower than control group;BMD,BGP,BALP and PINP levels in 2 groups were significantly higher than before, and general increased by time,ob-servation group was higher than control group;after 6 months,BMD,BALP and PINP levels in control group were significantly higher than before, the differences were statistically significant(P0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Ossotide tablet com-bined with Xianling gubao capsule can significantly improve the bone metabolism biochemical indexes of patients, promote bone mineral density and fracture healing, with good safety in short-term medication.

ABSTRACT

This study was performed to investigate the effect of Nei Guan (PC-6) moxibustion stimulation on artificial bradycardia of dogs. Xylazine was injected for inducing bradycardia. Rectal temperature, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, heart rate were recorded every 10 minutes for 120 minutes. Systolic blood pressure significantly increased on 40 min (p < 0.05) after xylazine injection, compared with those of control group. Heart rate significantly increased on 40 min (p < 0.01), 50 min (p < 0.01), 60 min (p < 0.01), 70 min (p < 0.01), 80 min (p < 0.01), 100 min (p < 0.01), 120min (p < 0.01) after xylazine injection, compared with those of control group. In conclusion, moxibustion of Nei Guan (PC-6) showed recovery effect in xylazine induced bradycardia in dogs.
