ABSTRACT

Chinese materia medica( CMM) serves as an important cornerstone for the development of traditional Chinese medicine( TCM) culture and industry due to its unique ecological, medical, economic, scientific and technological, and cultural values. The supply shortage and unstable quality of some CMM resources have hindered the development of TCM. Ensuring the sustainable use of CMM resources has become essential for the development of TCM in China. Enriching CMM resources is the key to ensuring the sustainable utilization of TCM resources in China, which can be achieved via expanding the medicinal parts, developing the substitutes, seeking for analogues, exploring the ethnic and folk medicines,or introducing foreign medicinal materials. CMM efficacy or function positioning plays a very important role in the transformation of new CMM resources. The strategies and methods for efficacy or function positioning of new CMM resources, including analogy, plant genetic relationship exploration, medicinal property deduction, ethnobotanical investigation, text mining, network pharmacology, and structure-activity relationship exploration, were systematically proposed in this study based on CMM theory, textual research, and modern methodologies. This paper is expected to provide a theoretical reference for the continuous enrichment and development of CMM resources and the high-quality development of TCM culture and industry.

ABSTRACT

Based on the data of “National Chinese Medicine Resources Census and Germplasm Sharing Data Special Service-Poverty Alleviation of Chinese Medicine Industry” and “Kangmei Chinese Medicine Network-Service Platform of Chinese Medicine Whole Industry Chain”, the information of traditional Chinese medicinal materials (TCMM) resources in poverty-stricken areas was collated and analyzed, the database of planting area and output value of Chinese medicine in poverty-stricken areas was constructed, and the species in poverty-stricken areas were plotted by ArcGIS software. The spatial distribution map of the situation of herbal medicine planting can discover and summarize the spatial pattern characteristics and development rules of poverty alleviation in Chinese herbal medicine industry. On this basis, by referring to the relevant reports of “China Poverty Reduction Database” and “Office of the Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development of the State Council”, this paper comprehensively analyses the main factors affecting poverty alleviation in the traditional Chinese medicine industry, and puts forward corresponding suggestions, hoping to provide beneficial references for the extensive poverty alleviation work in poor areas.

ABSTRACT

The origin place and quality of the traditional medicinal materials have been revolutionized in the last hundred years. The cultivated one, loom larger and larger, have become popular, with a result of declined quality, varied origin place, lack of criterion to measure quality, and confused definition usage, etc. The famous-region drug, with a high quality, should be defined not only as the origin place, but also as specific germplasm, ecological condition, and modes of production. On the basis of defining the concept of genuine medicinal materials, optimizing germplasm resources and origin place and strengthening the research of quality formation would be a main route to improve the quality of cultivated medicinal materials and promote the healthy development of traditional Chinese medicine industry.

ABSTRACT

Based on the research methods and technologies of science of Chinese materia medica, chemistry and mi-crobiology, the resource material conversion of functional material, biomass energy, nutrients in castoff from Chinese materia medica industrialization is promoted by microbial transformation. This will help enhance the resource utiliza-tion value, extend resource industry chains, and realize Chinese materia medica resource industry with the best use of everything, resource-saving and environment-friendly recycling economy development.

ABSTRACT

The resources utilization of castoff from Chinese materia medica (CMM) industrialization is a successive process involving economy, environment, social benefits, and other multiple goals. The balance and dynamic evolution characteristics between the economic benefit goals and environment benefit objectives closely relate to the resource models. Based on the thoughts and methods of resources chemistry of CMM, and through analyzing the generation, classification, and characteristics of castoff from CMM industrialization, this article proposed the "three utilization strategies" and "three types of resource modes" of castoff from CMM industrialization. The three utilization strategies are the traditional "non-medicinal parts" with multi-channel utilization (1), castoff recycling and utilizing in pieces processing (2), and in resources deep processing (3) of CMM. The three types of resources modes are extensive low resource mode, conversion efficiency of resources mode, and fine high value resources mode. These strategies and modes would provide the references for promoting the resources utilization of castoff from CMM industrialization and contribute to the realization of a resource-saving and environment-friendly recycling economy development of CMM and natural medicine resources.
