ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the influence of Qileng Decoction on the level of serum visfatin and the degree of carotid atherosclerosis in patients with acute atherosclerotic cerebral infarction(AACI). Methods One hundred and eighty AACI patients were classified into non-AACI control group (group A;N = 30), stable carotid atherosclerotic plaques group(group B;N = 75)and unstable carotid atherosclerotic plaques group(group C;N= 75)according to the results of carotid color ultrasonography. The serum visfatin level of the three groups was detected at the time of AACI attack. Group B and group C were separately randomized into conventional treatment subgroup (N = 37)and Qileng Decoction subgroup (N = 38). The conventional treatment subgroup was given basic therapy for AACI including nutrition support and symptomatic treatment , and Qileng Decoction subgroup was treated with Qileng Decoction (mainly composed of Radix Astragali,Rhizoma Sparganii, Fructus Mori,Radix Trichosanthis, Rhizoma Curcumae,Hirudo, and Fructus Aurantii)orally on the basis of treatment for the conventional treatment group. Before treatment and 15,90 and 180 days after treatment,we detected the level of serum visfatin, and measured the carotid intima-media thickness(IMT)and plaque scores(PS). Results (1)At the time of AACI attack, serum visfatin level of group B and group C was significantly higher than that of group A,and the level of serum visfatin of group C was significantly higher than that of group B,the difference being significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, serum visfatin over-expression was improved in both conventional treatment subgroup and Qileng Decoction subgroup of groups B and C at various time points (P< 0.05 compared with that before treatment), and the improvement in Qileng Decoction subgroup was superior to that in conventional treatment subgroup (P < 0.05). (2)At the end of treatment, IMT was improved in conventional treatment subgroup and Qileng Decoction subgroup of groups B and C (P < 0.05 compared with that before treatment), and the improvement in Qileng Decoction subgroup was superior to that in conventional treatment subgroup (P < 0.05). (3) The total effective rate for PS improvement of conventional treatment subgroup in groups B and C was 74.3%,68.6% respectively, and that of Qileng Decoction subgroup in groups B and C was 94.4%, 91.7% respectively, indicating that Qileng Decoction subgroup had better effect on improving PS than conventional treatment subgroup(P < 0.05). Conclusion Qileng Decoction exerts certain effect on regulating the over-expression of serum visfatin and improving the degree of carotid atherosclerosis in AACI patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the role of compatibility on clinical efficacy action of the prescription containing Curcu-ma zedoaria, and to improve the pertinence of drug use by medical staff and clinical efficacy of C. zedoaria. METHODS:By re-viewing relevant literatures, the prescriptions containing C. zedoaria were selected to summarize the effects of compatibility on clini-cal efficacy of C. zedoaria. RESULTS:345 prescriptions containing C. zedoaria were collected, mainly including the compatibility of C. zedoaria with traditional Chinese medicine which promote the circulation of qi,activate blood and remove blood stasis,toni-fy deficiency, warm interior and clear heat. The prescriptions containing C. zedoaria with sparganii often included Rhizoma Sparga-nii and C. zedoaria, involving 219 prescriptions(13.94%). CONCLUSIONS:C. zedoaria have the effects of activating blood stag-nation,promoting the circulation of qi,removing food retention and relieving pain;different compatibility greatly influence the clinical efficacy of C. zedoaria;common couplet medicines are R. Sparganii and C. zedoaria, and it can play the role of activating blood stagnation, promoting the circulation of qi,removing food retention and relieving pain;Common Vladimiria Root combined with Rheum palmatum can promote the circulation of qi and relieve pain. Medical staff should prescribe the prescriptions and use drugs for the compatibility of C. zedoaria based on clinical demands.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To observe the indexes of quality control of nature and quantity of Yanluotong Infusion.[Method]Make authentication to the 2 main components of Ligusticum wallichii and rhizoma sparganii on their nature with Silica gel G thin-layer chromatography;make content measurement to puerarin with RP-HPLC,take Kromasil 100-5 C18(4.6mm?250mm,5?m)as chromatogram column,methanol-water(30:70)as flow phase;the measured wavelength is 250nm.[Result]The puerarin sampling in the range 0.06~0.65?g is in good linear relationship with the summit area, the relative coefficient r=0.9999,the intraday and days nicety RSD are respectively 0.85% and 0.48%(n=5);the average sample reclaim rates of high, middle and low concentrations(n=3)are respectively 101.2%,101.1% and 101.4%,RSD is 1.1%,0.94% and 0.41% separately.[Conclusion]Silica gel G thin-layer chromatography and RP-HPLC are correct and reliable for nature and quantity control, with good repeatability, and can be taken as quality control standard of the preparation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To explore the inhibitory effects and mechanism of Rhizoma Sparganii and Rhizoma Curcumae on the angiogenesis of new granulation tissue in sponge.METHODS:The experimental endometriosis in female rats was established with sponge implantation. The effects of Rhizoma Sparganii and Rhizoma Curcumae on the angiogenesis of new granulation tissue in sponge were observed after intragastric medication for 2 consecutive weeks. The staining of endothelial cell specific Ⅷ factor and vascular endothelial cell growth factor(VEGF) was carried out by immunohistochemistry method. The expression of VEGF mRNA was detected by RT-PCR assay.RESULTS:In rats receiving high dosage of Rhizoma Sparganii and Rhizoma Curcumae(SC),the area of new granulation tissue in sponge, the number of blood vessels, the expression of VE-GF and VEGF mRNA were all significantly lower than in model group(P

ABSTRACT

Object To investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanism of traditional Chinese compound decoction of Radix Curcumae (RC), Rhizoma Sparganii (RS), and Rhizoma Zedoariae (RZ) (DRRR) on liver fibrosis in rats induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4). Methods Fifty Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: group A was healthy control (n=8), group B was model rats of liver fibrosis induced by CCl 4 (n=14), group C and D were treated with DRRR after the liver fibrosis in rats induced by CCl 4 four weeks later (n=14). B, C, and D groups were injected subcutaneously with CCl 4; C and D groups were administrated with DRRR 0.6 and 1.2 g/100 g, once per day. After administration of DRRR four weeks all rats were sacrificed, their blood and liver were harvested for further examination. The effect of DRRR was explored by the expressions and sites of transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-? 1), Smad3 and Smad7 in liver tissues by immunohistochemical staining. The liver function, serum hyaluronic acid (HA), and liver histopathology were also examined by biochemsitry, RIA, HE, and Van Gieson stainings respectively. Results To compare with model group, in rats that received DRRR, the expressions of TGF-? 1 and Smad3 were significantly decreased, while the expression of Smad7 was obviously increased in the livers (P
