ABSTRACT

Introduction: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is a non-fermentative gram-negative bacillus with increasing importance as a multidrug-resistant nosocomial agent. Despite reports of mortality rates between 14 and 69% in patients with bacteremia, the information documented in our environment is minimal. Methods: Descriptive, observational, retrospective and longitudinal study. Outpatients and hospitalized patients were sampled between January 1 and December 31, 2019, from the Centro Médico Nacional siglo XXI. Bacterial growth was evaluated to identify the presence of S. maltophilia. In a total of 7,019 cultures, we observed a frequency of 94 cases of S. maltophilia and in Results: these we identi?ed that 54.5% were resistant to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. Women were the most affected by this entity with a median age of 54.5 years. Fifty percent of the samples came from intensive therapy and the most frequent site of extraction was the trachea. We identi?ed a higher resistance to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole than that reported in the Discussion: literature (5%), in an organism capable of developing both nosocomial and community-acquired infections, forcing us to suspect its existence as well as a second treatment option in the face of multidrug resistance

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Aims: The presents study examines the purification and characterization of a chitinase from S. maltophilia SJ602 strain isolated from a soil sample collected from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. Methodology and Results: The purification steps included chitin affinity using colloidal chitin as the affinity matrix and column chromatography using Sephadex G-100. The chitinase was purified to 66 fold having a yield of 17%. The molecular weight of the chitinase was found to be around 29 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The pH and temperature optima of the purified chitinase were found to be at pH 5.5 and 60 °C, respectively. Conclusion, Significance and Impact of the study: Besides showing a significant yield, the enzyme has a high thermal stability which has its applicability in the recycling of chitin waste.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To get knowledge of the distribution and drug-resistance of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia in our hospital and improve the level of diagnosis and treatment.METHODS The automatic drug sensitive test and the paper spreads medicine sensitive test were carried on to 162 strains of S.(maltophilia) with the index of the VITEK system.RESULTS In all clinical samples,S. maltophilia isolated from phlegm was the most(90%),then was from secretion and swab. The majority of 162 strains were multidrug resistant. But to the(trimethoprim)-sulfamethoxazole and ciprofloxacin, the drug resistance was low((20.4%) and 22.2%,respectively).CONCLUSIONS S.maltophilia is the prevalent pathogen of nosocomial infection in ICU.And most of it are(isolated) from phlegm. So use antibiotics correctly,(reduce) invasive examinations or treatments and strengthen drug-resistant monitoring, are helpful to prevent and control S.maltophilia nosocomial infection.

ABSTRACT

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is among eight strain of broad resistance to antibacterial. It has been pay attention to global students, and is very difficulty in clinic treatment. Infection of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is more familiar in ICU. Its test rate is 13.45%(62/461) in the study .The resistance character: IPM﹑CZO﹑CRO﹑AMP and MNO is highest(resistive rate 100%). ATM、GEN 、 KAN 、MEM 、CTX and PIP is much high(≧86.5%), LVX﹑GAT and FEP is high (=50%).Conclusion: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia should be monitored in the hospital. Used of antibacterial must be rational. Severe disinfection and isolation should been put in practice to the infected patients. CSL is very active antibacterial (active rate 90.6%) against Stenotrophomonas maltophilia in the study, and ought be selected headmost in treated its infection.
