ABSTRACT

Objective This paper selects indicators, such as SCI journal publication fee, impact factors, annual Web of Science Documents, volume of publications in China, articles cited and so on,to conduct the feasibility analysis of using publication fee /impact factor (BI) as evaluation index of SCI journals. Methods Information from Web of Science,InCites,Journal Citation Reports database and the real-time data of 2013-2017 years SCI publication fees in Central South University, the third Xiangya Hospital were collected,SPSS and EXCEL was used to conduct Correlation and Basic analysis. Results In 2013-2017,a total number of 31 kinds of SCI journals were included in sample size, the SCI journal impact factor was positively correlated with the publication fee.BI was negative correlated with IF,The publication fee was not related to annual Web of Science Documents, volume of publications in Mainland China and Cites/Paper.Conclusions The SCI journal publication fee/impact factor (BI) can be used as a macro evaluation index for SCI journals. The BI values also can provide reference and reference of decision support and journal selection for scientific research personnel and scientific research administrators.

ABSTRACT

Background Randomized controlled trial (RCT) can offer high quality of evidence for the medical decisions.Consolidated standards of reporting trials (CONSORT) statement,an international criteria for RCT report,is a guideline and methodology of RCT report. However, the assessment and application of RCT according to CONSORT are dissatisfactory in China. Objective This study was to evaluate the reporting quality of ophthalmic diseases related RCTs published in SCI journals from mainland China and offer a good methodology of RCT report. Methods The RCT literature were searched on PubMed database according to Ophthalmology, Eye and all of their inferior subjective terms, and the published papers were limited in mainland China and before March,2013.Included papers were evaluated independently and checked by two searchers. The methodology and results of all retrieved papers were stratifiedly analyzed by the year of CONSORT published and revised. Results Sixty eligible RCTs were assessed, and the intervention methods were primarily surgery trials (34/60).Forty-four papers presented the comparison study of two groups with the median sample size of 76.0.Only 22% (13/60) trial reports gave the clear identification of RCT in the title.Majority of papers described trial design, eligibility criteria for participants, detail of interventions and outcome measures.Twelve pieces of articles reported how sample size was determined, and 41 pieces referred settings and locations, but only 6 pieces recorded interim analyses and stopping guidelines. After CONSORT 2010 Statement was published, the proportion of trial reports that included details of the randomization had little improvement (RR=1.06,95% CI:0.62-1.82).Only 42% trial reports (25/60) offered a description about blinding method. Conclusions RCT reports related to ophthalmic diseases from mainland China in SCI journals are still flawed with certain shortcomings.Following the guidance of the CONSORT statement can improve the quality of ophthalmic diseases related RCT from mainland China.

ABSTRACT

Background Recently, the number of randomized controlled trials on ophthalmic diseases that published in international journals from mainland China has increased gradually. There is no systematic summary in this field. Objective To systematically search and analyze the distribution of ophthalmic diseases related randomized controlled trials (RCT) published in SCI journals from mainland China up to November,2012.Methods The search was performed on Pubmed using “Ophthalmology”,“Eye” and all of their inferior subjective terms, with type of literature being limited as randomized controlled trial, and country as China. All retrieved papers were screened, data extracted and analyzed. Results There were 68 ophthalmic diseases related RCT papers published from mainland China since 1989.After 2005,the number of RCT papers from mainland China increased quickly with 7 in 2006,11 in 2009,and 15 in 2011.The 68 RCT papers were focused on cataract, optometry, glaucoma, corneal and conjunctival diseases, ophthalmic immune and pharmacology, and fundus diseases. The RCT papers were published in a total of 35 SCI journals including most kinds of ophthalmic journals such as Ophthalmology,IOVS and a few journals on other specialty. The journal Clin Experiment Ophthalmol had the maximum RCT papers from China (8 papers). The 68 RCT papers came from 26 departments in mainland China, mainly from the hospitals affiliated to medical university in Guangzhou,Beijing,Shanghai,Wenzhou and Hangzhou. Conclusions The number of ophthalmic diseases related RCT papers published in SCI journals from mainland China increased continuously. The papers were mainly focused on cataract, optomctry and glaucoma. The number of these papers, however, was still small and imbalance between districts existed.
