ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Salvia injection and needle-knife therapy are commonly used techniques in the treatment of osteoarthritis in clinical practice. At present, there is no research on the combination of the two methods. OBJECTIVE: To compare the effects of needle-knife therapy and salvia injection and their combinations in the treatment of osteoarthritis in rabbit models. METHODS: The study was approved by the Laboratory Animal Ethical Committee of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine. Fifty New Zealand white rabbits were divided into five groups: Blank control, model, salvia injection, needle-knife, and combination groups. The rat models of osteoarthritis were established in all groups except for blank control group. After successful modeling, medial and lateral patellar retinaculums, medial and lateral knee eyes, suprapatellar bursa, muscle belly of each quadriceps femoris, muscle belly and ending point of gracilis, muscle belly and ending point of adductor and area surrounding the tibial plateau of rats in the needle-knife group received needle-knife release. The rabbits in the blank control and model groups underwent the intra-articuiar injection of normal saline (0.3 mL). The rabbits in the salvia injection group were given the intra-articuiar injection of salvia (0.3 mL). The rabbits in the combination group received needle-knife release, followed by intra-articuiar injection of salvia (0.3 mL). All interventions were conducted weekly, for 5 consecutive weeks. The knee articular cartilage underwent gross observation and histological observation. The levels of interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in synovial fluid were detected by ELISA. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Gross observation: The worn artificial knee in the model group was serious, and was slight in the salvia injection, needle-knife, and combination groups. (2) Pathological scores: The scores in the salvia injection group were slightly higher than those in the needle-knife and combination groups. (3) ELISA results: The levels of interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in the combination group were significantly lower than those in the salvia injection and needle-knife groups (P < 0.05). (4) In summary, needle-knife therapy combined with intra-articuiar injection of salvia is superior to needle-knife therapy alone or intra-articuiar injection of salvia in reducing the levels of interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in rabbit models of osteoarthritis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the influence of compound salvia injection on oxidative stress and complications in patients with gestational hypertension.Methods From August 2015 to Fabuary 2017,140 patients with gestational hypertension in Binzhou Central Hospital were selected as study objects ,and randomly divided into control group and research group according to the digital table ,with 70 cases in each group.The control group was treated with routine treatment ,the research group was given routine treatment combined with compound salvia injec-tion.After treatment,SOD,MDA,NO,HMGB1,Cys C,hs-CRP,TNF-α,blood pressure and complications between the two groups were compared.Results After treatment,the levels of NO[(942.58 ±80.69)mmol/L vs.(734.51 ± 78.63)mmol/L] and SOD[(124.65 ±23.81)U/mL vs.(90.64 ±24.13)U/mL] in the research group were higher than those in the control group ,and the MAD level [(10.47 ±3.14) nmol/L vs.(15.82 ±3.32) nmol/L] in the research group was lower than that in the control group ,the difference were statistically significant between the two groups(t=15.451,8.394,9.795,all P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of HMGB1 [(1.81 ±0.43) mg/L vs. (3.89 ±0.65)mg/L],Cys C[(1.04 ±0.18)mg/L vs.(1.42 ±0.27) mg/L],TNF-α[(15.09 ±3.14) ng/L vs. (21.45 ±4.78) ng/L] and hs-CRP[(3.04 ±0.81) mg/L vs.(6.32 ±1.45) mg/L] in the research group were lower than those in the control group ,the differences were statistically significant (t=22.329,9.798,9.304,16.523, all P<0.05).After treatment,the systolic blood pressure[(131.25 ±5.74)mmHg vs.(139.61 ±5.59)mmHg] and diastolic blood pressure[(85.23 ±5.07)mmHg vs.(90.43 ±5.81) mmHg] in the research group were lower than those in the control group(t=8.730,5.642,all P<0.05).The cesarean section rate (61.43% vs.87.14%) and intrauterine distress rate(1.43%vs.11.43%) in the research group were lower than those in the control group (χ2 =12.115,5.818,all P<0.05).Conclusion Compound salvia miltiorrhiza injection has significant control effect on oxidative stress and inflammatory reaction in patients with gestational hypertension ,and is beneficial to reduce the complications of childbirth.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical curative effect and the influence on knee joint function of knee osteoarthritis treating with sodium hyaluronate combined with compound salvia injection.Methods 78 patients with osteoarthritis treated in our hospital from June 2015 to August 2016 were randomly divided into three groups: sodium hyaluronate group, compound salvia injection group and sodium hyaluronate plus compound salvia injection combination therapy group, 26 cases each group.The levels of serum inflammatory cytokines (IL-6,TNF-αand IL-1β) were measured by ELISA before and after treatment in the three groups, and the improvement of knee joint function and the change of pain score before and after treatment were analyzed as well.Results The total effective rate of sodium hyaluronate combined with compound salvia injection was significantly higher than that of sodium hyaluronate and compound salvia injection alone ( P <0.05 ); after treatment, patients VAS pain score was significantly decreased ( P <0.05), and the VAS pain scores in the combination group were significantly lower than those of the group treated with sodium hyaluronate and the compound salvia injection (P<0.05).The levels of IL-6, TNF-αand IL-1βin the three groups were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.05),and the inflammatory factors in the combination group were significantly lower than those in the alone treatment group (P <0.05). Conclusion Sodium hyaluronate combined with compound salvia injection has good clinical curative effect on knee osteoarthritis,improving the function of knee joint, reducing pain and so on.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the therapeutic effects of Alprostadil Injection and Composite Salvia Injection on diabetic foot.Methods Selected 210 cases of patients with diabetic foot who were treated in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2016,divided into three groups randomly.The group A was treated with Alprostadil Injection,group B was treated with Composite Salvia Injection,the group C was treated with Alprostadil Injection and Composite Salvia Injection.The clinical therapeutic effects of the three groups were compared,and the levels of blood lipid,urea nitrogen,creatinine,beta-globulin and urinary microalbumin before and after treatment were compared.Results After treatment,the effective rate of the group C was 92.86% (65/70),significantly higher than that of the group A and B (P < 0.05).After treatment,the levels of TG,TC and LDL-C in the three groups were significantly lower than before treatment (P < 0.05),HDL-C levels were significantly higher than before treatment (P < 0.05),and the group C was more significant (P < 0.05).After treatment,the levels of urea nitrogen,creatinine,beta 2 and urinary microalbumin were significantly decreased in the three groups than before (P < 0.05),and the group C was more significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion The effect of Alprostadil Injection and Composite Salvia Injection on diabetic foot is better,which is safe and effective.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effects of Salvia injection on the brain pathology,expression of synaptophysin and the synaptic ultrastructure at different time points in neonatal rats after hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD).Methods One hundred and fifteen healthy newborn SD rats of 7-day-old were randomly divided into normal group,sham group,Salvia high dose group,Salvia low dose group,and the HIBD model group.The HIBD model was prepared by ligation of the left carotid artery combined with hypoxic environment.The rats(in normal group,sham and HIBD model groups) were injected with sterile saline[9.0 mL/(kg · d)],while the rats in high and low dose groups were injected with Salvia injection [9.0 mL/(kg · d) and 4.5 mL/(kg · d) respectively].The intraperitoneal injec tion lasted for 7 and 14 days.The rats' brains were collected at one day,7 days and 14 days after the modeling respec tively.The specimens of brain tissue were observed through hematoxylin-eosin (HE),the expression of synaptophysin (SYP) was determined by using immunohistochemistry method,and the synaptic ultrastructure in the frontal cortex was observed through transmission electron microscope.Results Finally,106 newborn rats were included in statistics analysial.(1)General observation:after HIBD modeling,the neonatal rats were mostly in the left-lateral position,with difficulties in turning over,balance abnormalities,limb shaking and other abnormal behaviors,and the delay of eyes open with the left upper eyelid ptosis.(2) Pathology:the disordered and deep stained nerve cells,the degenerated and necrotic neurons were observed in the brain tissues of the HIBD model group.(3) Expression of synaptophysin:mean density of SYP in the HIBD model group was significantly lower than the normal group on day 1,day 7,and day 14 (P <0.05);the SYP expression in the Salvia intervention groups increased compared with the HIBD model group(P < 0.05).(4) Synaptic ultrastructure:the incomplete structure of the frontal cortex neurons,the swelling organelle and the synaptic structure damage were observed in the HIBD rats.Compared with the HIBD model group,the neuronic and synaptic ultrastructure were improved by the intervention treatment of high and low dose Salvia injection.Conclusions The mechanism of Salvia injection in treatment of neonatal rats with HIBD may be associated with the improvement in neuronal ultrastructure and synaptic reorganization.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the influence of Compound Salvia injection combined with cefoperazone sulbactam sodium on renal function and renal interstitial fibrosis in elderly patients with chronic pyelonephritis (CPN).Methods From April 2013 to July 2014, 126 cases of CPN were divided into observation group ( n =63 ) and control group ( n =63 ) according to the order of admission to hospital.All patients were given cefoperazone sulbactam sodium, and patients in observation group were added Compound Salvia injection.The clinical efficacy of treatment were evaluated between two groups, renal function and TGF-β1 were observed and compared before and after treatment in two groups.Results After treatment, HE staining of nephridial tissue showed renal interstitial fibrosis in observation group obvious improved more.The overall response rate of observation patients (90.48%) was significantly higher (74.60%) than control group, and the relapse rate of observation group (1.59%) was significantly lower than control group (14.29%), and there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05).After treatment, urinary albumin (11.4 ±3.1) mg/L, BUN (5.7 ±0.5) mmol/L, and Scr (103.2 ±10.4)μmol/L of observation group were significantly lower than control group, respectively (P<0.05).After treatment, TGF-β1 level (103.4 ±32.5) ng/L of observation group was significantly lower than control group (202.4 ±35.2) ng/L(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between two groups.Conclusions Compound Salvia injection combined with cefoperazone sulbactam sodium has good efficacy.can significantly improve renal function, delay renal interstitial fibrosis in treatment of elderly patients with chronic pyelonephritis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of hemodynamic,prognostic effect and myocardial protection of Salvia injection on patients with acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning. Methods 68 cases of patients with acute organophosphate were divided into observation group(n=34)and control group(n=34) from January 2012 to December 2013.The control group were given with atropine detoxification (dose:5-10mg), Tiopronin (0.2 g/d, 1 times/d) liver treatment, Pioneer will(2 g/second,1/d).The observed group received the foundation treatment and Salvia injection(30ml, 1/d), 7d course of treatment. The myocardial enzymes and hemodynamic parameters of two groups were observed before and after treatment. Results The survival rate and died rate of observation group were 94.12%(32 cases ), 5.88%(2 cases ). The survival rate and died rate of control group were 79.41%(27cases )and 20.59%(7cases). The survival rate and died rate of two groups were significant difference (χ2=5.123, P<0.05). The myocardial enzymes (AST, CK, CK-MB, LDH, HBDH) of observation groupafter 2d each index[were(58.6±22.7)U/L, (412.6±156.9)U/L, (78.6± 35.2)U/L, (489.3 ± 112.3)U/L, (412.8 ± 259.6)U/L] and blood rheology (ESR, FIB, LBV, HBV)each index[were(14.36±4.19) mm/h before , (259.3±23.14)g/L, (7.17±1.12)mPa?s, (4.12±0.81)mPa?s]were lower than in the same group therapy [myocardial enzymes indexes were (131.3±32.5)U/L, (1324.5± 345.2)U/L, (187.5 ± 72.2)U/L, (914.5 ± 312.2)U/L, (812.3 ± 312.2)U/L; hemorheology indexes were (23.29±3.49)mm/h, (389.57±34.24) g/L, (10.4±1.3)mPa?s, (6.3±1.2)mPa?s]. 5 d after treatment control group myocardial enzymes(AST, CK, CK-MB, LDH, HBDH)each index[were(85.3±22.8)U/L, (486.3± 78.9)U/L, (67.8±11.2)U/L, (542.3±78.6)U/L, (225.9±112.4)U/L]and hemorheology indexes[were(17.7± 4.6)mm/h, (289.4±32.5)g/L, (8.9±1.2)mPa?s, (5.6±1.3)mPa?s] was significantly lower than in the same group before treatment[myocardial enzymes indexes were(128.3±29.3)U/L, (1298.6±329.4)U/L, (182.6± 70.6)U/L, (902.3±286.3)U/L, (803.6±293.6)U/L;hemorheology indexes were (23.9±3.5)mm/h, (382.6± 32.5)g/L, (10.3±1.1)mPa?s, (6.2±1.1)mPa?s, P<0.05]. Conclusion Salvia injection can effectively improve the hemodynamic indicators of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning patients , reduce myocardial damage, promote patient prognosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the protective effect of the separate zinc gluconate oral and combined of Salvia injection on whole blood metal ion of calcium,magnesium,iron,copper and zinc concentration in noise-induced rats.Methods 50 female SD rats were randomly divided into a control group,a noise group,a zinc gluconate noise group (plus zinc group),a Salvia injection noise group (plus Salvia group) and a Zinc gluconate oral liquid and Salvia injection noise group (combined group),with10 rats in each group.Except the control group did not expose to noise,the rest groups were continuously exposed to high frequency steady noise for two weeks.Each group was compared for the concentration differences of whole blood metal ion of calcium,magnesium,iron,copper and zinc after the intervention of noise.Results ① In each group at the comparison of the calcium ion concentration: Calcium ion concentration of the control group(1.25± 0.16)mmol/L and the combination group(1.27 ± 0.10) mmol/L was significantly lower than the noise group (1.42 ± 0.18) mmol/L.The rest groups compared to each other were not statistically significant.②Magnesium ion concentration was highest in the noise group (1.53 ± 0.10)rmtmol/L),and lowest in the control group (130 ± 0.29) mmol/L,and the noise group was significantly higher than that of the control group.The mean of magnesium ion concentration in plus zinc group (1.42± 0.27) mmol/L,plus Salvia group (1.38± 0.15) mmol/L and combined group(l.37±0.11)mmol/L were lower than the noise group,but the difference was not significant (P>0.05).③ The iron ion concentration of the noise group (5.47± 1.29)mmol/L was significantly lower than the other four groups (P<0.05).The control group,plus zinc group,plus Salvia group,the combined group showed no significant differences.④ Whole blood copper ion concentration of the noise group (16.69 ± 4.18) μmol/L was significantly lower than the control group (21.53 ± 3.78) μmol/L and the combination group(19.53± 1.92)μmol/L with a statistical difference; compared with the control group,the concentration of copper ions in plus zinc group(16.19± 1.93)mμol/L was significantly lower (P<0.05).⑤The whole blood zinc ion concentration in the noise group (50.83±7.99)μmol/L was significantly lower than the other groups,zinc ion concentration in the plus Salvia group (53.87±6.77)μmol/L was significantly lower than the control group (63.86± 8.83) μmol/L; the whole blood zinc ion concentration showed no difference between the plus zinc group (54.81 ± 5.90) μmol/L,plus Salvia group and combined group (59.21 ± 3.90) μmol/L.Conclusion Combined zinc gluconate oral solution and Salvia injection had protective effect on whole blood metal ion concentration affected by noise.The protection effect of zinc gluconate oral solution and Salvia injection combination was stronger than any individual.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the protective effect of the zinc gluconate combined with Salvia injection on noise induced serum immunoglobulin(IgG,IgM,IgA) and immune molecules (IL-2,IL-4) in rats.Methods 50 female SD rats were randomly divided into control group,noise group,zinc gluconate noise group(plus zinc group),Salvia injection noise group (plus Salvia group) and Zinc gluconate oral liquid and Salvia injection noise group(combined group),10 rats in each group.Except the control group,rats in the other groups were continuously exposed to high frequency steady noise for two weeks.The concentrations of serum immunoglobulin (IgG,IgM,IgA) and immune molecules (IL-2,IL-4) after the intervention of noise were compared.Results Serum levels of IgG,IgM,IL-2,IL-4of the control group were significantly higher than the noise group (all P < 0.05),plus zinc group (all P < 0.05),plus Salvia group(all P <0.05),the differences were statistically significant.Serum level of IgA of each group was not statistically different compared with control group (all P > 0.05).Serum levels of IgG,IgM,IL-2,IL-4 in the noise group were significantly lower than those in the control group (all P < 0.05),combined group (all P < 0.05),the differences were statistically significant.Serum levels of IgG,IgM,IL-2 in plus zinc group were significantly higher than the noise group(all P < 0.05).Serum IgA concentration of each group showed no significant difference compared with noise group(all P > 0.05).Conclusion Zinc gluconate oral solution and Salvia injection have protective effect on immune system affected by noise in rats,the protective effect of combination of zinc gluconate oral solution and Salvia injection is stronger than the individual.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate effective methods for preventing radiotherapy - induced oral mucositis among patients with cephalocervical malignant tumors. Methods 92 patients with cephalocer-vical malignant tumors treated with radiotherapy were randomly divided into group A (31 cases),group B (31 cases) and group C (30 cases). Mixture of 20 ml heartleaf houttuynia herb injection,20 ml salvia injection and 30 ml distilled water were given to patients in group A by means of nebulization inhalation one hour before and after every radiotherapy treatment, the inhalation lasted 20 minutes each time up to the end of radiotherapy. Mixture of 2 ml Kang-fu-xin injection,0.5 mg vitamin B|2 injection and SO ml normal saline were given to patients in group B by the same means as group A. Yangyin Qingfei decoction were given to patients in group C by means of selecting its 500 ml juice for oral use. Half of the 500 ml decoction were separately given 1 hour before and after each radiotherapy treatment up to the end of radiotherapy. Results The incidence rates of oral mucositis were obviously lower among patients in group A than in group B and C. Conclusions Nebulization inhalation of mixture of heartleaf houttuynia herb and salvia injections has significant clinical effects on oral mucositis after radiotherapy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe clinical effect of treating acute myocardial infarction with western routine treatment combined with salvia injection and astragalus injection.Methods 100 cases patients with acute myocardial infaretion were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group.The treatment group was treated with western routine treatment combined with salvia injection and astragalus injection,and the control group was treated with western routine treatment,which Were injected by vein for one time daily.Results The therapeutic effects in the treatment group were significantly better than the control group,with P<0.05.Conclusion Salvia injecfion and astragalus injection has better effects on improving parameters of hemorheology and anti-free radical,enhancing cfinical effect of acute myocardial infarction,incrrasing cardiac function after acute myocardial infarction.
