ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effectiveness of sandplay therapy combined with family counseling in children with school phobia and its influence of child′ self-consciousness. Methods Integrative sandplay therary with family consulting were used to treat 28 patients with school phobia regularly for 2 months. Sandplay and family consulting therapy were given once a week for 45 minutes . Clinical outcomes were assessed using CGI-GI and Piers-Harris children′s self-consciousness scale before and after treatment as well as 3 months posttreatment. Results Overall response rate was 85%. In addition, the physical appearance and characteristic factor before and after treatment were no significant difference (P>0.05). The rest of the various factors and total score compared with pre-treatment significantly improved (P0.05). Conclusion Integrative sandplay therapy with family counseling has better and long-lasting treatment effect to self-consciousness of children with school refusal.

ABSTRACT

Objective To exam the personality traits and self-concept of school phobia patients with different academic achievements.Methods 38 school phobia patients with high academic achievement and 19 school phobia patients with low academic achievement were assessed with Eysenck' s personality questionnaire and Piers-Harris Children' s Self-concept Scale.Results High academic achievement group of psychoticism and neuroticism higher than that of low academic achievement group.High academic achievement group of Self-concept's total scores,behavior,intelligence and the school situation higher than that of low academic achievement group.High academic achievement group of anxiety scale score lower than that of low academic achievement group.The personality traits of school phobia correlated with the self-concept on some level.Conclusion Different academic achievements of school phobia patients have different personality traits and have different self-concept,so they need to individualized treatment options.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the clinical and epidemiological value of semi-quantitative regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF)imaging in children with school phobia. Methods A total of 20 cases diagnosed with school phobia were examined with rCBF.Twelve were males and the other 8 were females.The mean age was(14.2?2.1)years(11-18 years).Semi-quantitative analysis methods were used to investigate the correlations among gender,age and rCBF. ResultsThere were significant differences in the rCBF of right fronto-parietal lobe,right occipital lobe,caput and putamen,left thalamus and hippocampus,and temporo-occipital lobe between males and females(P0.05).Only the PI of left temporo-parietal lobe of those ≥ 15 years old was significantly different from that of those

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the cognitive modes and behavioral reply modes in order to adopt available psychotherapy to school phobia patients.Methods:Integrative psychotherapy and consulting technology were used to treat 32 patients with school phobia regularly more than 12 times.Their cognitive modes and behavioral reply error modes were induced.Results:The cognitive modes and behavioral reply modes of patients with school phobia were distinct from students that did not have school phobia.Conclusion:Error cognitive modes and passive defensive behavioral modes are the psychopathological features of school phobia.
