ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the growth and development status of children with severe β-thalassemia major (β-TM) in Bazhong area and its correlation with hemoglobin concentration (HGB) and serum ferritin (SF) level, and to provide a theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of children with β-TM in Bazhong area. Methods A total of 292 children with β-TM admitted to Bazhong Central Hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were selected. The Z-score method was used to evaluate the growth and development of the children. According to the growth and development of the children, they were divided into the normal group (normal growth and development, n=163) and delayed group (growth and development delay, n=129). Another 60 healthy children were selected as the control group. The levels of HGB, serum SF, free triiodothyronine (FT3), free tetraiodothyroxine (FT4), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) were compared among the three groups of children, and clinical data such as age, sex and age of onset were collected from the case system. Univariate analysis and logistic regression were used to analyze the independent risk factors of growth and development delay in β-TM children. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation between growth retardation and HGB and serum SF levels in β-TM children. Results The serum SF and TSH levels in the delayed group were significantly higher than those in the normal group and the control group, while the levels of HGB and serum FT4 were significantly lower than those in the normal group and control group (P2000 ng/mL were risk factors for growth retardation in β-TM children (P2000 ng/mL, the height, weight, and HGB and serum SF levels should be monitored regularly.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the hysteromyoma treated with the gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist(GnRH-a)and the impact on immunologic function. Methods 130 cases selected from the patients with hysteromyoma enrolled from January 2016 to December 2016 in hospital have been randomly divided into two groups. The control group has been treated with mifepristone while the study group GnRH-a.Results The sizes of uterus and myoma of both groups have no significant difference before treatment. After treatment, both of them are significantly improved, and those of the study group is significantly smaller than that of the control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum sex hormone and immunologic function of both groups have no significant difference before treatment. They are both improved after treatment, and the study group is significantly better than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Applying GnRH-a therapy to the patients with uterine myoma benefits for improving the therapeutic effect, which can improve the serum sex hormone levels and immunologic function.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effect of anastrozole on sex hormone levels and michigan cancer foundation-7 ( MCF-7 ) cell inhibition in postmenopausal women with breast cancer. Methods: Totally 80 women with breast cancer were selected. Among them, 40 cases of patients received the routine management and tamoxifen treatment were included into the control group, and another 40 cases of patients received the routine management and anastrozole treatment were included into the observation group. The changes of sex hormone levels, effects and adverse drug reactions of two groups were compared between basetine and three months after treat-ment, meanwhile, the incidence of MCF-7 cell inhibition between two groups. Results:After treatment, the levels of estradiol( ER) , progesterone(PR) and luteotropic hormone(LH) were lower than baselime, however, the level of testosterone was contrary(P <0. 05). Meanwhile, the level of ER, PR and LH in control group were lower than baselime however, the level of testosterone was cont-ray (P<0. 05). The incidence of MCF-7 cell inhibillion between two grugs at time 72 h were higher than the 48 h, the incedence of MCF-7 cell inhibition in observation group were significantly higher than control groups at time 48 h and 72 h (P<0. 05). The rate of total effective in control group(45. 0%) was lower than the observation group(70. 0%)(P>0. 05). There was no significant differente in the micidence of adverse reactions. Conclusion:Anastrozole used for postmenopausal women with breast cancer has significant effi-cacy, high safety and promising inhibitory effect on MCF-7 cell. It can effectively adjust sex hormone level, reduce occurrence and transfer risks of breast cancer.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To compare the effect and differences sex the influence of hormone levels of perimenopau-sal syndrome patients between manual acupuncture and electroacupuncture (EA).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 50 cases with perimenopausal syndrome were randomly assigned into an manual acupuncture group (27 cases) and an EA group (23 cases), and 1 case dropped in the EA group. The acupoints in the two groups were Guanyuan (CV 4), Zigong (EX-CA 1), Tianshu (ST 25), and Sanyinjiao (SP 6). Acupuncture with 3-time small and even manipulation of lifting, thrusting and twirling was used in the acupuncture group, once 10 min. EA with sparse-dense wave and 10 Hz/50 Hz was applied in the EA group for 30 min. The treatments in the two groups were for continuous 8 weeks (24 times in total), once the other day, 3 times a week. The scores of 24-hour hot flashes even, menopausal rating scale (MRS) and menopause-specific quality of life questionnaire (MENQOL) were recorded before treatment and after 4-week and 8-week treatment, as well as 12 and 24 weeks after treatment. Serum sex hormone levels were tested before and after 8-week treatment as well as 12 weeks after treatment, including serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and estracliol (E).</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with those before treatment, the 24-hour hot flashes even score, MRS and MENQOL scores were significantly lower after 4-week and 8-week treatments, 12 and 24 weeks after treatment (all<0.05). All the above scores after 8-week treatment were lower than those after 4-week treatment (all<0.05); and the scores 12 and 24 weeks after treatment were lower than those after 4-week and 8-week treatments (all<0.05); all the scores after treatment were not significantly different at any time between the two groups (all>0.05). Compared with those before treatment, serum FSH and Eapparently improved in the two groups after 8-week treatment and 12 weeks after treatment (all<0.05). LH levels did not significantly change in the two groups (all>0.05). All the serum sex hormone levels showed no significant difference between the two groups (all>0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Both acupuncture and EA can improve perimenopausal symptoms and serum sex hormone. The effects are similar.</p>
