ABSTRACT

The preliminary trial began with the exchange of reports between pharmacy pharmacists and nurses from home-visit nursing stations in Tempaku-ku, Nagoya-city, and then the collection of survey results to investigate the transition of mutual credibility, opinions on maintaining alignments, and the effect of collaboration. It was established that there were distinct viewpoints based on professions, even when the cases belonged to the same category in the sharing reports. For instance, in terms of pharmacotherapy, the reports by pharmacists were focused on suggesting pharmaceutical management such as left-over medicines or prescriptions, whereas the reports by nurses were targeted on how to finish up all prescribed medicines and described more vital signs, treatments, and cognitive ability in the category of symptom. In the survey results, 86.7% of the respondents answered that sharing information between pharmacists and nurses should strengthen the synergistic effect. It was suggested that the working relationship between pharmacists and nurses would develop by sharing information with each other. And, ultimately, each pharmacist’s and nurse’s viewpoint will be expected to play a significant role in providing a stronger support for an ideal life according to the patient’s will, fostering a very intense relationship across different professions alongside all assessments and proposals based on expertise, and improving the quality of each work.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to explore issues arising from the promotion of collaboration between general practitioners (GPs) and community pharmacists in the management of leftover medicine. The 2016 Revision of Medical Fee newly added the check boxes in the prescription form in which a physician requests the correspondence of a pharmacy when confirming leftover medicine. In this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey among GPs in three wards of Tokyo in the month of November 2016. Of the 1,256 clinics queried, 283 responded to the survey. Among those GPs responding, 86.6% were concerned about leftover medicine of their patients, while 29.3% used the check boxes. GPs who received an explanation about the change of the prescription form demonstrated a significant increase in the use of the check boxes, compared to GPs who did not (p<0.01). Of the GPs surveyed, 71.0% thought that the check boxes were an advantage in recognizing medicines that the patients did not take. An overall 67.5% of the GPs who used the check boxes revised prescriptions based on the information from pharmacists. The study suggests that by increasing collaboration between GPs and pharmacists, the information from pharmacists could be utilized to revise prescriptions and lead optimization of drug treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective The inaccuracies of index type in retrieval papers affect the accuracy and fairness of scientific and technological output evaluation and reward. To establish a local database and information resources sharing platform for science and technology output of our hospital, which will provide the long-term stable service for the daily clinical and scientific researches. Methods Building a professional team for standardized data collection and processing to ensure the data integrity and accuracy, and providing a powerful data supporting system for the accurate evaluation of science and technology output in our hospital. Results Standardized local database including nearly 10 years' information resources of our hospital was successfully established, which offered high-efficiency service for senior professional post promotion, postgraduate tutors' qualification inspection, scientific research achievements and influence evaluation. Conclusions The unique advantage of our database is secondary indexing of the retrieval data. The secondary indexing for all the collected data may resolve the deficiency of retrieval data indexing and provided a helpful tool for the accurate evaluation of scientific and technological output.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The General Medical Council (GMC) provides information regarding sharing information with patients under Good Medical Practice for health care professionals and suggests that medication and treatment side effects must be explained appropriately. Method: To achieve the aim of this study all Consultants, Specialist Registrars (SpRs), Staff Grades / Associate Specialists (SASGs), Senior House Officers (SHOs) and Foundation doctors were sent postal / e-mail questionnaire to inform regarding side effects information they provide to patients. Results: 110 postal / e-mail questionnaires were sent out for doctors to respond about the information they provide regarding the serious and or common side effects of medication. The investigators received 52 (47.3%) responses which included 25 Consultants, 1 SpR, 4 SASGs, 18 SHOs and 4 Foundation doctors. Clozapine and Lithium stand out to be medications for which most doctors would always provide information about common side effects. It was interesting to note that the common side effect information of anti psychotic medications is provided by less than 60% of doctors. In our study we found that 68% of Consultants tend to always provide information about common side effects and 71% of them always provide information about serious side effects of medications. Due to small number of staff grades and SpRs we cannot comment on comparison but 57% and 67% of SHOs provide information about common and serious side effect of medications respectively. Conclusion: Doctors provide more information to the patients if the medication is Clozapine or Lithium but not for Benzodiazepines. Medication adherence could be increased if the patients are well aware of what to expect when they are on medications. Doctors provide information but are poor in documenting the same and our hypothesis is accepted

ABSTRACT

This research discusses the librarian's participation in the formation ofmultidisciplinary groups of Health Technology Assessment (HTA), characterizing its performance in a new field that opens to librarians in research institutions. The main objective is based on the creation of a Digital Library (DL) with quality parameters of information related to HTA, from documents created by the service of bibliographic Library Network Fiocruz, showing the necessity of the librarian in the multidisciplinarygroup to HTA. The methodology was divided into three parts: data collection of the art of knowledge produced in Collective Health, where the Evaluation of Health Technologies, and Information Science is, exploratory research with a qualitative approach to data collection with the group of HTA researchers from several private and public institutions and a qualitative approach to data collection of the Library Network Fiocruz professionals and data analysis. It was noted that there is an activeparticipation of the librarians in HTA activities, formulating database searchstrategies, reviewing search protocols, locating relevant publications, helping locating systematic reviews to the search groups. This preuposes creation of a DL sharing all the digital documents created by the libraries. This initiative aims to contribute to boosting the production of scientific and technological knowledge in the health and HTA.
