ABSTRACT

The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of mesenchymal stem cells derived from canine adipose tissue in the healing process of full-thickness mesh skin grafts in rabbits. The stem cells were collected from young dogs; and, after characterization, remained in cryopreservation, in independent doses containing 2 x 106 cells. The mesh distal limb graft technique was performed in 60 rabbits, divided into three groups, CG (Control Group), GT1 (Intralesional Stem Cell Treated Group), and GT2 (Intravenous Stem Cell Treated Group), containing 20 animals each. After grafting, each group was randomly divided into four subgroups according to euthanasia time 3, 7, 14, and 30 days, containing five animals in each group. Animals of GT1_14, GT1_30, and GT2_14, GT2_30 subgroups received a second dose of xenogeneic cells on the seventh day. Meanwhile, animals from GT1_30 and GT2_30 received the third dose of xenogeneic cells on day 14. The groups treated with xenogeneic stem cells positively affected type III collagen re-epithelialization and deposition, and possibly GT1 had a controlled inflammatory response. However, no effect on angiogenesis. Thus, it was possible to demonstrate tolerance and therapeutic action of mesenchymal stem cells from canine adipose tissue in skin grafts in rabbits.(AU)

ABSTRACT

To evaluate the benefits of stem cell therapy for skin regeneration and to compare it with the benefits of autologous skin grafting, in a massive burn patient population with compromise of more than 50% of the body surface área Material and methods: An exhaustive search through PubMed and other databases such as SpringerLink, Ovid and SciELO was made looking for observational analytical studies, experimental and descriptive studies about stem cell therapy for skin regeneration and autologous skin grafting independently to compare them. Articles assessing an adult population sample of an age range of 21-59 years discarding items that studied a child population. Studies of United States and China were selected to be leading research on the subject, also studies of Latin American countries such as Chile and Colombia in the last 10 years were included. The next items were taken into account to establish the benefits of each procedure and obtain comparative results: the time required by the patient from the beginning of each procedure until the skin regeneration, the percentage of compliance of each procedure, the number of complications and gravity, reduced morbidity, costs, number of surgical procedures and the end result of the quality of the regenerated skin. Results. Limited information about stem cell therapy for skin regeneration was obtained, 24 articles of autograft skin with the specific characteristics of the population described were found and 107 articles more were used as references for the theoretical framework on stem cells and skin equivalents. It was obtained as a result that stem cells therapy is an expensive and laborious process, considered excellent treatment option for massive burn patients with limitations for autologous skin grafting...

ABSTRACT

Objective Clinical effects of dot from body skin irradiated xenogeneic skin improved composite graft. Methods Selected 80 patients with severe burn patients randomized after admission on the basis of conventional treatment,3-5 days line Crust treatment group transplanted autologous point-like skin irradiation pigskin coverage. Results Treatment of patients in group one week dressing see irradiated pigskin Tiefu full two weeks the pigskin was dry scab-like.Wound healing treatment group (29 ± 5) days (P < 0.01) was significantly shorter than the control group(39 ±4) days.Wound healing rate of treatment is significantly higher than the control group (P <0.01).Wound infection rate reduced greatly reduce labor intensity and dressing, and reduce pain.1 year after scar formation in patients with good flexibility and functionality. Conclusions Punctate since improved composite body skin irradiated xenogeneic skin transplantation can improve skin graft survival rate, promote wound healing, treatment of a large area of the burn wound repair is feasible and effective.
