VIII to X) of schools affiliated to the Board of Public Examinations, Govt. of Kerala. Data were collected by administering the Emotional Competence Scale for Secondary School Pupils (Rekha & Salim Kumar, 2015) and the Socio-Economic Status Scale (Usha & Vijayan, 2014). Chi-square test of association was employed to analyse the data inferentially. The result revealed the presence of significant association between SES of the family and emotional competence in total and two of the constituent factors of EC, viz., self-awareness and relationship management

ABSTRACT

Abstract The inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor market was possible through legislation reserving vacancies, however, it is still insufficient to offer employment without providing accessibility conditions. It is relevant to investigate the possibilities and the challenges of the insertion of the disabled person in the work, but few studies depart from their perception. This study aims to understand how the Brazilian journals of Collective Health of Qualis CAPES above B2 are addressing the perception of people with disabilities and the influence of the Law of Quotas on inclusion in work. This is a bibliographical study, like literature review. It is perceived that the intersection between the studies on disability and studies on the work enters Collective Health as an emergent subject. From the reading and analysis of the articles, four categories were created: disability as a disadvantage and restriction of participation; quotas for people with disabilities; the perception of the disabled person about work and social inclusion measures at work. There is still a long way to go so that the elimination of barriers is not only based on organization, legislation, education, but essentially in the field of ideology, politics and society.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this research was to identify the perceptions of girls and their families in relation to Programa Univali Mulher (Univali Women's Program). The program, which aims at promoting health, focuses on girls of two schools in the city of Itajaí, southern Brazil, with the proposal of preventing violence against women and promoting their empowerment through a dialogic teaching process. The qualitative methodology was used in this research, with data collected from three sources: analysis of reports, observation, and semi-structured interviews. It can be concluded that the Program is a means of education which goes beyond the classroom, enabling the formation of a group of girls in which friendship is established, and whose activities represent an expressive and liberating phase of their lives. However, it also regulates inappropriate behaviors, thus preventing the girls from fully benefiting from this process of empowerment.

ABSTRACT

In the present work I share some proposals which allow us to meditate on the mission of the university and to recover the role it accomplishes as an institution to prepare subjects with social awareness, sound human values which they respect, encourage and make evident in each and every one of their actions, which not only satisfy the needs of the labor world but also assume new challenges and bring about growth, development and social, political, economic, technical and scientific transformation at local, regional and global levels. This has been achieved by our universities during the 20th century, allowing advance and development of Colombia throughout cities, regions and even has contributed with brilliant minds to other nations. Two topics are developed in this work: 1) the pedagogic and epistemologic teachings of Plato and 2) the scientific illiteracy in which university education has fallen into. Last, I relate these topics with the training of nursing professionals, how should university education must be transformed and its influence on the current nurse in order to be evident through being, understanding and knowing how.
