ABSTRACT
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of study methodology and evaluation type on the selection of studies during the presentation of scientific events. METHODS: A prospective, observational, transversal approach was applied to a cohort of studies that were submitted for presentation at the 2021 Brazilian Breast Cancer Symposium. Three forms of criteria (CR) were presented. CR1 was based on six criteria (method, ethics, design, originality, promotion, and social contribution); CR2 graded the studies from 0 to 10 for each study, and CR3 was based on five criteria (presentation, method, originality, scientific knowledge, and social contribution). To evaluate the item correlation, Cronbach's alpha and factorial analysis were performed. For the evaluation of differences between the tests, we used the Kruskal-Wallis and post-hoc Dunn tests. To determine the differences in the study classifications, we used the Friedman test and Namenyi's all-pairs comparisons. RESULTS: A total of 122 studies were evaluated. There was also a good correlation with the items concerning criterion 1 (α=0.730) and 3 (α=0.937). Evaluating CR1 methodology, study design and social contribution (p=0.741) represents the main factor and CR3 methodology, and the scientific contribution (p=0.994) represents the main factor. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed differences in the results (p<0.001) for all the criteria that were used [CR1-CR2 (p<0.001), CR1-CR3 (p<0.001), and CR2-CR3 (p=0.004)]. The Friedman test showed differences in the ranking of the studies (p<0.001) for all studies (p<0.01). CONCLUSION: Methodologies that use multiple criteria show good correlation and should be taken into account when ranking the best studies.

Realizamos una reseña histórica de la Sociedad-Asociación Rioplatense de Anatomía, que fue una agrupación de anatomistas argentino-uruguaya. Se consideran sus orígenes y objetivos, estructura organizativa, congresos y publicaciones. Posteriormente con el crecimiento de la anatomía en ambos países se desdobló en la Asociación Argentina de Anatomía y la Sociedad Uruguaya de Anatomía.
SUMMARY: We carry out a historical review of the Rioplatense Society-Association of Anatomy, which was a group of Argentine-Uruguayan anatomists. Its origins and objectives, organizational structure, congresses and publications are considered. Later, with the growth of anatomy in both countries, it was divided into the Argentine Association of Anatomy and the Uruguayan Society of Anatomy.

Es indudable que el estudio de la actividad científica a través del devenir histórico nacional puede ayudar a comprender mejor los procesos sustantivos de nuestra cultura e identidad nacionales. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo explicar el proceso de fundación y desarrollo del Centro Médico Farmacéutico de Cienfuegos. A partir de fuentes documentales, se analiza la actividad de dicho centro y se revelan aspectos inéditos de su integración, funcionamiento y contribución a la sociedad cienfueguera, por lo cual el trabajo contribuirá a la construcción de una historia social de la ciencia en la provincia de Cienfuegos.
Unquestionably the scientific activity study throughout the national historical evolution can provide a better understanding of the substantive due process of our national cultural and national identity. The present paper is aimed at explaining the process of foundation and development of the Cienfuegos pharmaceutical medical center. On the basis of documentary sources, the activity of the center is analyzed and unpublished elements are shown on its integration, functioning and contribution to the Cienfuegos society. Therefore this work will contribute to the construction of a science social history in the province.

Se presenta una investigación histórica acerca de la fundación y evolución del capítulo de la Sociedad Cubana de Patología Clínica en Cienfuegos, contextualizada en los antecedentes, desarrollo y situación actual de los laboratorios clínicos en la provincia. Se enuncian las tareas de mayor complejidad e importancia, desarrolladas por los miembros de esa sociedad científica desde su fundación hasta la actualidad, así como los retos futuros.
A historical research is presented about the foundation and evolution of the Cuban subsidiary of clinical pathology in Cienfuegos, contextualized in antecedents, development and present situation of the clinical laboratories in the province. The most complex and important tasks which were developed by the members of the scientific society from its foundation to the current period are stated, so as future challenges.

Las sociedades científicas se desarrollan en Cuba desde la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, como resultado del desarrollo científico-tecnológico, la necesidad de socializar las mejores experiencias, y determinadas coyunturas económicas, sociales y políticas. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo exponer cronológicamente los hechos más relevantes en el desarrollo de las sociedades científicas de la salud en Cienfuegos. Para ello, se realizó una investigación de corte histórico, que incluyó una amplia revisión documental y la entrevista a informantes clave. Durante la etapa colonial y neocolonial, Cienfuegos se destacó en la creación y sostenibilidad de estas sociedades. El primer intento formal de los médicos cubanos para colegiarse tuvo lugar en Cienfuegos en 1874, aunque no se materializó hasta 1881. Durante la etapa revolucionaria, existió el mayor desarrollo de las asociaciones. El año 1978 marcó el inicio de profundos cambios, y ya en 1980 se legalizó el Consejo Provincial de Sociedades Científicas como órgano de relaciones entre las sociedades y el Ministerio de Salud Pública. Se concluye que las sociedades científicas en Cienfuegos surgieron con estrecho margen de tiempo en relación con sus homólogas nacionales. Varias personalidades de la localidad han honrado estas asociaciones y se han desarrollado actividades científicas y sociales de gran relevancia.
Scientific societies emerged in Cuba in the second half of the nineteenth century as a result of the scientific and technological development, the need to disseminate the best experiences, and certain social, political, and economic circumstances. This paper aims to present the most important events related to the development of scientific health societies in Cienfuegos in chronological order. For this purpose, a historical research was conducted involving an extensive literature review and key informant interviews. During the colonial and republican period, Cienfuegos stood out because of the creation and sustainability of these societies. The first formal attempt of Cuban doctors to work together took place in Cienfuegos in 1874, but this effort did not materialize until 1881. The rise of this type of associations occurred during the revolutionary period. The year 1978 marked the beginning of profound changes, and by 1980 the Provincial Council of Scientific Societies was legalized as a body to establish relations between scientific societies and the Ministry of Public Health. It is concluded that scientific societies in Cienfuegos emerged in a short period of time in relation to their national counterparts. Several personalities of the province have been members of these associations, which have conducted scientific and social activities of great importance.

Readings on Scientific Nature of the Brazilian College of Sport Science, edited by Amarílio Ferreira Neto (2005), presents a synthesis of the politician and scientific routes from the main scientific association of Physical Education/Sport Sciences in Brazil in the last decades of 20th century. The plurality of positions, divergences and mutual critics that also appear in the book show its development until now and expresses the challenges to face.
