ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the vailation of serum sP-selectin,sE-selectin,levels in the patients of pre-diabetic,simple type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and T2DM with coronary heartdisease(CAD).To investigate the possible mechanism that sP-selectin, sE-selectin accelerate type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: Level of serum sP-selectin, sE-selectin was assayed by ELISA in type 2 diabetes with or without coronary heart disease (32 and 34 cases respectively),pre-diabetic (32 cases) and control group(32 cases). Meanwhile BMI,BP,FBS,FINS,TG,CHO,HDL-C,LDL-C,HbA1C were determined in all cases as well as in control group. Results:The serum levels of sP-selectin and sE-selectin in pre-diabetic,type 2 diabetes mellitus with or without coronary heart disease groups were significantly higher than the control group ( P<0.01 ).There was significant positive correlation between serum levels of sP-selectin,sE-selectin and these items including FBG ,FINS,TG,HbA1C,HOMA-IR(P<0.01);but sE-selectin was negatively correlated with HDL-C (P<0.05).Conclusion:sP-selectin,sE-selectin,are risk factors in the initiation and progression of pre-diabetic,type 2 diabetes with or without coronary heart disease;sP-selectin and sE-selectin possibly accelerate type 2 diabetes by inducing insulin resist-ance.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship and clinical significance between the serum levels of oxidized low density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL) and soluble P-selectin (SP-S),and carotid atherosclerosis (CA) in metabolic syndrome (MS) patients. Methods In 103 cases of MS patients and 44 healthy subjects (control group),in MS patients with 3 MS diagnostic criteria for the low risk group (51 cases),with ≥ 4 MS diagnostic criteria for high risk group (52 cases).Carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) and plaque was measured by color Doppler ultrasound, serum Ox-LDL,SP-S was determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay, and pearson regression analysis of linear correlation and classification of two non condition Logistic was performed. Results The serum levels of Ox-LDL,SP-S,carotid artery IMT in low risk group and high risk group were higher than those in control group [(36.42 ±7.17) μg/L and (54.44± 8.10) μg/Lvs.(30.08±7.15) μg/L,(71.46± 12.52) μ g/Land (89.33±20.28) μg/Lvs.(49.95 ± 12.49) μ g/L,(0.86 ± 0.11) mm and (1.00 ± 0.10) mm vs.(0.69 ± 0.11) mm],the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01).The incidence of plaque in high-risk group and low-risk group was significantly higher than that in control group [55.8% (29/52) and 45.1% (23/51) vs.15.9% (7/44)],the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01).Linear correlation analysis results of Pearson display,Ox-LDL was positively correlated with SP-S (P <0.01).Conclusion Serum Ox-LDL and SP-S are independent risk factor for carotid atherosclerosis in MS patients, they can evaluate progression of carotid atherosclerosis in patients with MS.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the change of soluble P-selectin (sPsel)and von Willebrand factor (vWF)levels after ad-mission in traumatic patients and their relation with the coagulation indexes levels, coagulation disorders and prognosis. Methods 82 cases of severe trauma in ICU of Affiliated Tongji Hospital were prospectively selected and detected plasma sPsel,VWF anti-gen,protein C,activity of coagulation factor Ⅶ and routine coagulation indexes on admission and on every day within the first week after admission. The 30 d fatality rate was recorded. Results The sPsel and vWF levels on admission in the patients with coagula-tion disorders were lower than those in the patients without coagulation disorders (P <0.05)and significantly correlated with the coagulation indexes (protein C and coagulation factor Ⅶ)levels (P <0.05).The vWF level within 3 d after admission in the death patients was significantly lower than that in the survival patients, but which on 7 d after admission in the death patients was signifi-cantly higher than that in the survival patients (P <0.05 );no significant difference in sPsel level within 1 week after admission were found between the survival patients and the death patients. Conclusion Among severe traumatic patients in ICU,the low lev-els of sPsel and VWF on admission are associated with the coagulation disorders, the significant rise of vWF level on 7 d after ad-mission is associated with the increase of the 30 d fatality rate.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the relationship between the level of plasma soluble P-selectin and pediatric migraine. Methods ABC-ELISA method was used to detect the soluble P-selectin levels in migraine patients (migraine group), migraine patients under control (control group) and healthy children (healthy control group). Transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) and the platelet count were performed. Correlation of P-selectin and platelet count was analyzed. Results Plasma soluble P-selectin level in migraine group was significantly higher than that in the control group and the healthy control group (both P 0.05). TCD showed cerebral vasospasm more frequent in the migraine group than the control group, with significant difference (P < 0.05). Blood examination revealed that platelet count of migraine group is higher than that of the control group and the healthy control group, with significant differences (P < 0.05). When migraine was under control, the level of plasma soluble P-selectin reduced to normal and the frequncy of cerebral vasospasm and platelet counts were also within normal range. Plasma soluble P-selectin level and platelet count were positively correlated (r = 0.996, P < 0.01). Conclusions Plasma soluble P-selectin increased in migraine children, the incidence of cerebral vasospasm was significantly increased. Plasma soluble P-selectin level and platelet count were positively correlated. Plasma soluble P-selectin can be used as one of the indicators of diagnosis, treatment and efficacy evaluation in pediatric migraine.
