ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT. Interest in anatomy dates from the earliest times. Such knowledge was acquired through dissections of animals and human corpses by many researchers. The macroscopic anatomy of the varied structures of the brain were identified over the centuries, and the predominating solid substance was seen as amorphous, and devoid of any specific function, until the Renaissance. René Descartes, a personage with a brilliant and creative mind, conceived the brain, its structure and function, in a distinct manner to what was known at his time. He valued the solid matter and gave it, for the first time, a theoretical minute structure, related to a presumptive function based on the presence of the pineal gland and the animal spirits, underlying cognitive, sensory and motor activities. Such structural view was endorsed, in a given sense, by the microscopic findings of Marcello Malpighi, which begun to change the understanding of the nervous system.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To establish an HPLC method for determining the content of aspirin and sodium salicylat in A-Liu spirits and study the stability of the two components under different storage conditions. Methods:The analytical column was Agilent Eclipse XDB-C18(150 mm ×4.6 mm, 5 μm) ,0.01 mol·L-1 potassium dihydrogen phosphate (adjusting pH to 2.3 with potassium acid) -acetonitrile-methanol(55∶15∶30) was used as the mobile phase at the flow rate of 1. 0ml·min-1 , the detection wavelength was 280 nm and the column temperature was 30℃. The contents of aspirin and sodium salicylat were regularly determined under such storage conditions as ambient temperature, constant temperature and humidity(30℃ ± 2℃,65% ± 5%) and refrigeration (4℃ ± 2℃). Re-sults:The average recovery and RSD were 100. 06% and 0. 80%(n=9) for aspirin, and 100. 53% and 0. 82%(n=9) for sodium salicylat. Aspirin and sodium salicylat showed good linear relationship within the range of 31.0-310.0 μg·ml-1(r=0.999 9)and 30. 5-305. 0 μg·ml-1(r=0. 999 5), respectively. Under the three storage conditions, the content of aspirin was decreased, while that of sodium salicylat was increased, suggesting the temperature could significantly affect the hydrolysis rate and content of aspirin Conclusion:The method is promising with good resolution, reproducibility and sensitivity. It is recommended that the method be used to determine the content of aspirin and sodium salicylat in A-Liu spirits, and aspirin isn't stable under different storage conditions.

ABSTRACT

This paper underlines the singularity of the invention of the belief in the resurrection of deaths: this one is examined here taking into consideration Freudian design of the lost object and mourning. The history of this invention is taken again since its emergence in the first biblical texts, its particular efflorescence, with the ghosts, during the Middle Age, until his becoming with the modern period and its expressions in the clinic.

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present study was to analyze the use of vinasse from cachaça as an ingredient of the fermentation medium for the spirit production. The fermentations were conducted out in three successive batches using a Saccharomyces cerevisiae isolate. In the first batch, the sugarcane broth was only diluted with distilled water. In the second and third batches, the fermentations were carried out using the cane broth diluted with vinasse from the distillation of the sugarcane wines of the first and second batches, respectively at a concentration of 10% (v/v). The spirits were submitted to the physicochemical and sensorial analyses. The results showed that vinasse addition did not affect the fermentation, distillation and chemical-sensorial quality of the beverage. Therefore, the vinasse addition could be an alternative use for that residue.

ABSTRACT

Based on a long process of direct observation and interviews, this article states that the main barrier to the unfruitful attempts of dialog between biomedicine and "traditional healers", in Mozambique, is the ignorance and/or undervaluation of the local notions about illness, the social aspects of its aetiology, and their implications for the notion and process of cure. Therefore, together with the characterization of the tinyanga (healers putatively possessed by spirits) and their therapies, the article presents the locally dominant system of misfortune interpretation, in which the material causes (how it happened) are combined with social and spiritual factors (why it happened to that person). As a consequence, the cure is not only the healing of the illness; it includes and demands as well the resolution of the social problem that caused it - and this second aspect of the cure is one of the tinyanga's expertises. For that reason, consulting such healers seldom results from the absence of health care alternatives, and they cannot accept the idea of being limited to their herbalist expertise, in order to be integrated into the official health care system. However, the debate and negotiation about their space, role and status in future general health care systems should not be made through sympathetic "cultural translators". The tinyanga have the abilities to do it with their own voice, as far as they have available interlocutors.

ABSTRACT

Humanistic education is the important content of college quality education. But the humanistic education in our country is very weak, and the university students are short of humanistic spirits at large, which goes against the improvement of the quality of university students and higher education. So our universities should enhance humanistic education, which should be the keystone of stratage for each university from ideas to practice.
