ABSTRACT

Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia y factores asociados al bajo consumo de frutas y verduras en alumnos de la carrera profesional de medicina humana de la Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizán (UNHEVAL). Métodos: Estudio transversal. La población estuvo constituida por los 371 de alumnos de la carrera profesional de Medicina Humana que se encontraban matriculados y cursando estudios en julio de 2018. Se aplicó de un cuestionario autoadministrado el cual permitió obtener información del consumo de frutas y verduras. A partir de los datos recolectados obtuvo la prevalencia y factores asociados al bajo consumo de frutas y verduras. Resultados: La prevalencia de bajo consumo de frutas y verduras fue de 60,1% (IC95%: 55,0%-65,2%). Las principales razones para no consumir frutas y verduras fueron el considerar que es poco frecuente conseguirlas en los cafetines de la universidad (78,7%), el tiempo insuficiente para su selección, compra y preparación (73,6%) y el vivir con alguno de los padres que se encargaban de su alimentación (55,3%). El análisis multivariado encontró que el único factor asociado al bajo consumo de frutas y verduras fue el tiempo insuficiente para la selección, compra y preparación; mientras que, vivir con alguno de los padres constituyó factor protector. Conclusión: Existe una alta prevalencia de bajo consumo de frutas y verduras en alumnos de la carrera profesional de medicina humana de la UNHEVAL. El tiempo insuficiente para la selección, compra y preparación de frutas y verduras constituye factor asociado y vivir con alguno de los padres constituye factor protector.


Objective: To determine the prevalence and factors associated with the low consumption of fruits and vegetables in students of the professional career of human medicine of the National University Hermilio Valdizán (UNHEVAL). Methods: Cross-sectional study. The population was constituted by 371 students of the professional career of Human Medicine who were enrolled and taking courses in July 2018. It was applied a self-administered questionnaire which allowed to obtain information about the consumption of fruits and vegetables. From the collected data it was obtained the prevalence and factors associated with low consumption of fruits and vegetables. Results: The prevalence of low consumption of fruits and vegetables was 60,1% (IC95%: 55,0% -65,2%). The main reasons for not consuming fruits and vegetables were that it is rare to get them in the cafeterias of the university (78,7%), insufficient time for their selection, purchase and preparation (73,6%) and living with one of the parents who were in charge for their feeding. (55,3%). The multivariate analysis found that the only factor associated with low consumption of fruits and vegetables was the insufficient time for selection, purchase and preparation; whereas, living with one of the parents constituted a factor protector. Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of low consumption of fruits and vegetables in students of the professional career of human medicine of the UNHEVAL. The insufficient time for the selection, purchase and preparation of fruits and vegetables is an associated factor and living with one of the parents constitutes a protector factor.

Introducción: la concepción científica, dialécticamente interrelacionada de todos los elementos que componen del método clínico, debe contribuir sin dudas, a su rescate y con ello a una asistencia médica de calidad. Objetivo: constatar el desempeño en la aplicación del método clínico por estudiantes de sexto año de la Carrera de Medicina, en el examen práctico de Medicina General Integral, pertenecientes a la Filial de Ciencias Médicas "Dr. Eusebio Hernández Pérez", Colón. Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal y prospectivo en los estudiantes de sexto año de la carrera de Medicina, perteneciente a la Filial de Ciencias Médicas "Dr. Eusebio Hernández Pérez", Colón, curso 2015- 2016, se utilizó la guía de observación del examen práctico de Medicina General Integral. El universo fue 45 estudiantes de la carrera de Medicina, que se presentaron al examen y coincidió con la muestra. La guía de observación empleada fue validada por profesores de años de experiencia, teniendo en cuenta las etapas del método científico establecidas en la aplicación del método clínico: entrevista médica, examen físico y el razonamiento clínico. Se tuvo en cuenta el consentimiento informado de los estudiantes. Resultados: de 45 estudiantes, 17 obtuvieron calificaciones con 5 puntos, 16 con 4, y 12 con 3. De ellos, 28 presentaron deficiencias en la aplicación de las diferentes etapas del método clínico. Conclusiones: predominaron las deficiencias en aspectos evaluados en el examen práctico de la entrevista médica, el razonamiento clínico y en menor cuantía el examen físico (AU).


Introduction: the dialectically interrelated scientific conception of all the elements composing the clinical method, should undoubtedly contribute to its rescue and to a qualitative medical care with it. Objective: to state the performance of the sixth year students of Medicine belonging to the University of Medical Sciences Branch ¨Dr. Eusebio Hernández Pérez¨, of Colon, in the application of the clinical method during the practical examination of General Comprehensive Medicine. Materials and methods: a descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study was carried out in the sixth year students of Medicine belonging to the University of Medical Sciences Branch ¨Dr. Eusebio Hernández Pérez¨, of Colon, 2015-2016 academic years, using the observational guideline of the practical examination of General Comprehensive Medicine. The universe was formed by 45 sixth-year students of Medicine, belonging to the sixth year group, who entered for the examination; it coincided with the sample. The used guideline was validated by experienced teachers, taking into account the stages of the scientific method established in the application of the clinical method: medical interview, physical examination, and clinical reasoning. The students gave their informed consent. Results: from 45 students, 17 got qualifications of 5 points, 16 got 4 and 12 got 3. From them, 28 had deficiencies in applying the different stages of the clinical method. Conclusions: deficiencies predominated in aspects evaluated in the practical examination of the medical interview and the clinical reasoning; less deficiencies were in the physical examination (AU).

ABSTRACT

Se realizó una investigación cuali-cuantitativa de tipo preexperimental con el fin de instrumentar una estrategia pedagógica para desarrollar habilidades investigativas en los estudiantes de Medicina de la Filial de Ciencias Médicas "Lidia Doce Sánchez", de Sagua La Grande, Villa Clara, durante el período 2010-2015. La población estuvo constituida por 262 estudiantes matriculados en la mencionada carrera en el curso 2009-2010, de los cuales se seleccionó una muestra de 104 mediante un muestro no probabilístico por criterios con predominio de la categoría regular para enfrentar el proceso investigativo estudiantil. Los estudiantes consideran bastante útiles la adquisición de los conocimientos sobre metodología de la investigación, así como su inclusión en el currículo de Medicina. La estrategia diseñada se centró en seis áreas de resultados. El número y la calidad de los trabajos presentados a eventos estudiantiles, luego de aplicada la estrategia, se incrementó significativamente.


A qualitative-quantitative research work was carried out in a pre-experiment form with the aim to apply a pedagogical strategy to develop researching abilities in the students of Medicine in "Sagua La Grande, Lidia Doce Sánchez", University Site, from (2010 to 2015) The population comprised 262 students which were registered in that career in the academic year 2009-2010, a non probabilistic sample was comprised by 104 students, in which the regular category was predominant to face the students researching process. The students considered that the knowledge acquisition about the researching methodology was useful, as well as its inclusion in the Medicine career curriculum. The designed strategy was centered in six areas. After the application of the strategy, the number and quality of the works presented in the student´s events were considerably increased.

ABSTRACT

A construção do SUS e o crescimento do nosso país têm suscitado uma discussão maior sobre mudanças no ensino médico. Iniciativas para implementar as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais aumentam o cardápio de estratégias de mudanças na preparação do fu turo médico. Para compreender melhor essas modificações, aplicamos questionários in locu a 1.004 alunos do internato de Medicina em 13 cursos médicos de seis Estados brasileiros entre 2004 e 2007, e realizamos entrevistas com alunos, docentes e gestores de Saúde. Neste artigo, destacamos o que pensam os formandos a respeito de sua formação no começo de sua atuação profissional. Aproximadamente 19 por cento dos alunos se sentem aptos ao exercício imediato da medicina; 81 por cento querem buscar formação complementar; 63 por cento desejam ser "especialistas"; só 20 por cento querem trabalhar em medicina geral, como o PSF, e apenas 5 por cento querem trabalhar em pequenos municípios. Há discrepâncias entre o que os alunos querem fazer, como se sentem preparados e o que acabarão por fazer. Este estudo fornece dados que podem ajudar na melhoria da educação médica de acordo com as demandas do SUS e na integração ensino-serviços-comunidade.


The construction and consolidation of the Unified Health System (SUS) in Brazil and the country's economic growth have sparked increasing discussion on changes in medical education. Initiatives to implement the National Curriculum Guidelines have expanded the range of strategies for changes in training for future physicians. In order to better understand these changes, we applied on-site questionnaires to 1,004 medical interns in 13 medical schools in six States of Brazil from 2004 to 2007, and conducted interviews with students, faculty, and health administrators. This article highlights what graduating medical students think of their training at the beginning of their professional careers. Approximately 19 percent of the graduates feel prepared to practice medicine immediately; 81 percent want to seek additional training; 63 percent wish to become "specialists"; and only 20 percent want to work in general practice like the Family Health Program (only 5 percent want to work in small towns). There are discrepancies between what the students want to do, how prepared they feel, and what they actually end up doing. This study provides data that can help improve medical education in Brazil according to the demands of the Unified Health System and integration between teaching, services, and the community.

ABSTRACT

O ensino de habilidades de tornar um encontro médico-paciente efetivo envolve aspectos subjetivos e culturais. Buscamos, então, problematizá-los à luz da promoção em saúde. Os objetivos foram: aferir a qualidade de vida dos internos do Curso de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Ceará/Sobral, com enfoque no desenvolvimento pessoal; avaliar a qualidade de vida dos internos por meio do WHOQOL – Bref; descrever como elaboram os sentimentos advindos do contato com os enfermos, avaliando a repercussão na promoção da saúde dos internos. Trata-se de pesquisa com abordagem quanti-qualitativa. A coleta de dados aconteceu por meio do WHOQOL – Bref e entrevista. Para a análise dos dados quantitativos, utilizamos o software SPSS versão 16.0, com enfoque na estatística descritiva. Adotamos as linhas narrativas com vistas a organizar os dados qualitativos. Enquanto o universo foi de 77 alunos, a amostra quantitativa foi de 50 alunos e, destes, 13 foram entrevistados. Procedemos à análise tomando como referencial teórico o conceito de identidade relacionado à cidadania para entender o papel do médico que está sendo construído, quanto à relação médico-paciente, usando o conceito de self-awareness, ambos articulados às estratégias de enfrentamento/modelo de resiliência. Sobre os resultados do WHOQOL – Bref, quanto à percepção da qualidade de vida (QV) geral, 48 % referiram ser boa e 30% nem ruim, nem boa. A maior média foi à relativa ao domínio físico (63,93), seguida do domínio psicológico (62,42), social (62,00) e a mais desfavorável foi a ambiental (60,86). Na abordagem qualitativa, identificamos oito categorias: 1.perfil do paciente considerado difícil pelo interno; 2.modo de interação, papel do interno; 3.facilidades e dificuldades; 4.rede de apoio/suporte; 5.planos para o futuro; 6.comunicação; 7.solidariedade e 8.religiosidade...

ABSTRACT

O uso de drogas entre estudantes universitários está cada dia mais difundido. Os índices de uso de álcool e drogas ilícitas podem ser maiores na população universitária do que na população em geral. OBJETIVO: Este trabalho procurou detectar quais são as drogas de abuso usadas pelos estudantes de medicina de universidade privada de Curitiba para posterior implementação de programa de prevenção secundária nesta população. MÉTODOS: Durante 106 dias, em 2006, foi aplicada adaptação virtual do questionário Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) aos 209 estudantes de medicina participantes do presente trabalho. RESULTADOS: Oitenta e oito (42 por cento) estudantes participaram. A maioria era solteira (88 por cento) e tinham entre 17 e 25 anos (85 por cento). Setenta e oito por cento usou álcool pelo menos uma vez na vida. O uso na vida de tabaco foi de 39 por cento; cannabis sativa 26 por cento, inalantes 22 por cento e estimulantes 11 por cento. DISCUSSÃO: Os resultados encontrados são semelhantes aos de outras pesquisas em universidades e mostram alto número de usuários de drogas, especialmente o álcool. Essa é uma situação preocupante e aponta a importância da instituição educacional na prevenção da dependência química. CONCLUSÃO: O ambiente universitário influencia o uso de drogas e novas estratégias de prevenção são necessárias.


Drug abuse among universitarians is an increasing issue. Rates of alcohol and illegal drugs abuse can be higher in the universitarian population than in the general one. OBJECTIVE: This research aims to detect what drugs are used by Medicine students of Positivo University (Universidade Positivo) and to correlate associated caracteristics. METHOD: It was applied a virtual adaptation of the ASSIST (Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test) questionnaire to all (209) Medicine students during 106 days in 2006. RESULTS: Eighty-eight (42 percent) of the students took part in it. Most were single (88 percent) between 17 and 25 years old (85 percent). Seventy-eight percent consumed alcohol at least once; the use of tobacco was of 38,64 percent; cannabis got 26,14 percent of use, inhalants were used for 21,59 percent and stimulants for 11,36 percent. DISCUSSION: The results found match studies from other universities and also showed a high number of drug users, especially for alcohol. It's a worrying situation and points out the importance of having proper education in preventing drug addiction. CONCLUSIONS: The University enviroment clearly influenciates drug abuse and new prevention strategies are needed.

Se realizó un estudio con el objetivo de determinar los principales factores que afectan el desarrollo del proceso docente educativo en la rotación de cirugía en el cuarto año de la carrera de Medicina de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Pinar del Río en el curso 2006-2007. Se seleccionó una muestra al azar de 55 estudiantes que representan el 85,9 % de la matrícula del semestre, a los cuales se les aplicó una encuesta que incluía 9 variables referidas a: cumplimiento de tiempos electivos y exámenes de premio, actualización científica de los contenidos y vías de actualización, papel de las actividades prácticas y la educación en el trabajo en la adquisición de habilidades, disponibilidad de literatura docente, así como valoración integral del proceso. Los datos fueron procesados a través del método porcentual aritmético utilizando además análisis de correlación para variables independientes (estadígrafo P de Pearson), y la prueba de comparación de dos y K- proporciones de grupos independientes. Se demostró que aunque existen deficiencias con el desarrollo del proceso docente, el grado de satisfacción con el mismo es adecuado.

A sample of 55 students was selected at random accounting for 85,9 % of the total. The were surveyed including 9 variables related to the fulfillment of optional times and rewarding examinations, scientific updating of contents and update means, the role of practical activities and the education for developing skills, the availability of teaching literature as well as the whole evaluation of the process. Data were processed using the arithmetic percentage method using the co relational study as the comparison test with two and K proportions in non-dependant groups. Although deficiencies in the teaching process development exist, it was demonstrated satisfaction is appropriate.
