ABSTRACT

Objective To dig the correlation between genes and four TCM constitutions (phlegm-dampness, blood stasis, allergy, and dampness-heat); To analyze microscopic mechanism of constitution formed and constitution-disease correlation; To provide biological basis for TCM constitution classification and constitution-disease correlation theory. Methods Literature about TCM constitutions and gene expressions in CNKI and Wanfang Database were retrieved by computers from the establishment of database to 31, December 2016. Differentially expressed genes of four TCM constitutions were collected, and DAVID database was used for enrichment analysis, including gene tissue enrichment analysis, disease analysis, GO analysis, and pathway analysis. The results of DAVID database analysis were downloaded and analyzed. Results Four TCM constitutions had differences in gene level, and each constitution had the specificity in significantly enriched gene function, activity, pathways, related diseases, and expression locations. Different patterns of gene expression led to the constitution differences in disease susceptibility and tendency. Conclusion The essence of TCM constitution formation is the change of gene expression patterns, and the pathological changes are also caused by the change.

ABSTRACT

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a special subtype of breast cancer which lacks expression of the estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and HER-2. The treatment of TNBC remains a challenge, due to its high heterogeneity, aggressive pattern and insensitivity to endocrine, so the HER-2-directed therapy is ineffective and prognosis is poor. TCM treatment has certain advantages in treating TNBC. The complementation of traditional Chinese and Western medicine should be paid attention to in the process of syndrome differentiation. Differential diagnosis of disease in Western medicine should correspond to treatment based on syndrome differentiation and the concept of wholism in TCM. For different stages of the disease, it is also important to emphasize the relations between supporting the healthy energy and eliminating the evil factors, and the whole and the part before the prescription to analyze and grasp of TCM constitution, to exert the superiority of TCM in treating TNBC.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the correlation between the dysmenorrhea and TCM constitutions among the junior high school girls of Shanghai suburb; To analyze the influencing factors; To provide references for the prevention of dysmenorrhea. Methods By using cluster sampling during December 2015 to January 2016, the questionnaire surveys which included the general situation, the classification and determination of TCM constitution self-test and COX Menstrual Symptom Scale were used for the junior high school girls from the suburb area of Shanghai to analyze the relationship between dysmenorrhea and TCM constitutions and the influencing factors. Results The incidence rate of dysmenorrhea was 29.52% (93/315) in junior high school girls from the suburb area of Shanghai. There was statistical significance in body height and menarche age among girls with and without dysmenorrhea (P<0.05). The rank correlation coefficient of dysmenorrhea and gentleness type was -0.130 (P=0.021). The rank correlation coefficients of dysmenorrhea and pathological constitution (except for special diathesis type) were all greater than 0 (P<0.05). Univariate analysis showed that there was statistical significance in the incidence of different coagula in menses, different inheritance of dysmenorrhea, different sleep quality, different learning pressure, different emotional state and different physical exercises (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that influence factors of dysmenorrhea were inheritance of dysmenorrhea, learning pressure and yin-deficiency constitution. Conclusion The pathological constitution is the susceptible constitution of dysmenorrhea of junior high school girls. Yin-deficiency constitution, inheritance of dysmenorrhea and learning pressure can increase the incidence of dysmenorrhea. It is suggested that the corresponding preventive measures should be taken to achieve the purpose of prevention dysmenorrhea by regulating and improving yin-deficiency constitution.
