ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the expression of TP53-induced glycolysis and apoptosis regulator (TIGAR) in pancreatic cancer tissues and its correlation with the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer.@*Methods@#The cancer tissues and paired adjacent normal tissues of 110 patients who underwent radical surgery for pancreatic cancer from January 2015 to December 2016 in Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University were selected. The expressions of TIGAR in cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues were detected by immunohistochemical, and its relationship with the clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed. The relationship between TIGAR expression and prognosis was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier survival curve method.@*Results@#Immunohistochemical results showed that TIGAR protein was mainly expressed in cytoplasm of cancer cells. The high expression rate of TIGAR in cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues: 67.3% (74/110) vs. 20.9% (23/110), and there was statistical difference (P<0.05). The expression of TIGAR was not related to gender, age, tumor site, tumor differentiation and tumor maximum diameter (P>0.05), but related to lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis result showed that the median survival time in high TIGAR expression patients was significantly shorter than that in low TIGAR expression patients (11 months vs. 27 months), and there was statistical difference (P<0.01).@*Conclusions@#The TIGAR expression in pancreatic cancer tissues is high, and it is related to lymph node metastasis. The pancreatic cancer patient with TIGAR high expression predicts a poor prognosis.
