ABSTRACT

Clinical reasoning training is the manifestation of comprehensive performance in the students of physical therapy.Strength-ening the clinical-oriented curriculum system, facilitating evidence-based practice knowledge and skills, introducing specialization educa-tion,and applying continuously the evaluation instruments of students'performance in clinical reasoning training would contribute to better education outcome.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of intensive therapy program on gross motor function of children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods Thirty 3-15 year old children with spastic cerebral palsy and level Ⅰ-Ⅲ in gross motor function classification system (GMFCS) were randomly divide into 2 groups. The trial group adopted intensive therapy program for treatment, including functional dynamic suit and universal exercise unit combined with functional movement training. The control group adopted core stability training for treatment.Children in two groups took a 1-month training program for 3 hours per day and 5 days per week. The pediatric evaluation of gross motor function measure (GMFM-66) and peabody developmental motor scale (PDMS-2) were administered before and after treatment. Results The scores of GMFM-66 as well as the stationary and locomotion scores of PDMS-2 in both groups showed significant differences within group (P < 0.01) after treatment. For the scores of GMFM and PDMS-2 between two groups,no significant differences were found. Conclusions The intensive therapy program can improve the gross motor function of children with spastic cerebral palsy and gain the same effects as core stability training, which can provide a novel and effective intervention for children with cerebral palsy.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to test the effects of a forgiveness therapy program to improve self-esteem, anger and forgiveness in people who abuse alcohol. METHODS: A non-equivalent control group pre-posttest design was employed. Participants were 38 people who abuse alcohol and who agreed to participate in this study. They were assigned to the experimental group in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings of J hospital(n=19) and the control group in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings of B hospital(n=19). The eight session program was provided once a week for 8 weeks. The data were analyzed using percentage, chi2-test, Kolmogorov - Smirnov test, and t-test with SPSS 21.0 program. RESULTS: The results showed significant decrease in state anger and increase in self-esteem and forgiveness in the experimental group compared to the control group. CONCLUSION: The findings show that forgiveness therapy program has a positive effect on self-esteem, anger, and forgiveness of people who abuse alcohol but further studies will be needed in order to determine the long term effects of an extended integrated program on rehabilitation of these people.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the situation of AIDS patients who had received replaced therapy program in Henan province. Methods 84 AIDS patients had been enrolled into the national free first-line antiretroviral treatment for more than 5 years and would soon be replaced with another antiretroviral treatment program, were selected to a follow-up program to be carried out six months later Data on CD4+ tlymphocyte count, viral load and genotypic resistance were included in the study. Results The DDI + AZT + NVP treatment program was used by all the 84 patients at baseline.A replacement by 3TC + AZT + NVP (post first-line) in 31 patients and 3TC + TDF + LPV/r (second-line) in another 53 patients were taken place within a week. All the patients were followed for six months. Results showed that:all of the 84 patients appeared an amelioration of CD4 1 tlymphocyte count median from the baseline of 374.00 cell/μl to 406.50 cell/μl(P=0.005).Those patients who had changed to second-line treatment program also showed an improvement of CD4 + tlymphocyte count median from the baseline of 267.00 cell/μl to 365.00 cell/μl (P=0.015),while patients who were on the post first-line program with their CD4 + tlymphocyte count mean did not show significant change as compared to the baseline (P=0.158) data. All the 84 patients showed a decrease of virus load median from the baseline of 3.61 Iog10copies/ml to 0.00 log10 copies/ml (P=0.000).Both of the two types of patients who had been changed to different programs, had a lower virus load median in the end of the tollow-up period (for post first-line:P=0.007 ;for second-line:P=0.000).13 patients kept their viral load more than 1000 copies/ml,including 5 cases bore more than three thymidine analogue mutations (TAMs) a the end of the follow-up program.Another 4 patients had no resistance mutations detected and no significant variation of viral load (less than 3 times) in the pre-or post- surveys. Conclusion AIDS patients who had received long-term first-line antiretroviral treatment program, showed an amelioration six months after changing of the treatment program.Timely and effective testing on drug resistance as well as the strengthening of the follow-up program still seemed to be the link to those patients who were receiving first-line treatment that should not be ignored.

ABSTRACT

In the present investigation, we evaluate the effectiveness of a group therapy program for self-care with cognitive-behavioral orientation, designed to be used on clinical psychologists with high levels of secondary traumatic stress. The object of this group therapy program is to increase the frequency of emissions of self-care behaviors and decrease the levels of secondary traumatic stress in psychologists. By a quasi-experimental design, we evaluate the group therapy program effects. The results indicate that, after 5 sessions that lasts the group therapy program, the psychologists that participated in it (n = 9) increased significantly their self-care behaviors and decreased significantly their secondary traumatic stress levels. Instead, the psychologists that did not participate in the group therapy program (n = 12) did not show variation on self-care frequency and they increased secondary traumatic stress. These results are conclusive that the group therapy program is effective and it represents an alternative to prevent and treat work related burnout in clinical psychologists.
