Efectividad de la terapia floral en pacientes con hipertensión arterial descontrolada / Effectiveness of flower therapy in patients with uncontrolled hypertension

Se efectuó un estudio cuasiexperimental de 60 pacientes con hipertensión arterial descontrolada, atendidos en el consultorio 31, perteneciente al Policlínico Docente "30 de Noviembre" de Santiago de Cuba, desde abril de 2012 hasta igual periodo de 2013, a fin de evaluar la efectividad del sistema floral terapéutico de Bach en el tratamiento de los afectados. Se confeccionaron 2 grupos (experimental y control) de 30 integrantes cada uno. Ambos recibieron su tratamiento farmacológico hipotensor habitual, pero al primero se le adicionó la terapia floral y al segundo, captopril. Al cuarto día de ser tratados se estabilizó la tensión arterial en la mayoría de los integrantes de la serie; sin embargo, no se logró dicho control en un miembro del primer grupo (3,3 %) y en 3 del segundo (10,0 %), lo cual demostró la efectividad de la terapia floral en el tratamiento de la citada afección.

A quasi-experimental study of 60 patients with uncontrolled hypertension, assisted in the doctor's office 31, belonging to "30 de Noviembre" Teaching Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from April, 2012 to the same period of 2013, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of Bach's therapeutic flower system in the treatment of those affected. Two groups were made (experimental group and control group) of 30 members each. Both received their pharmacological habitual hypotensive treatment, but the flower therapy was added to the first one and captopril to the second. After four days of being treated the blood pressure was stabilized in most of the members of the series; however, this control was not achieved in a member of the first group (3,3 %) and in 3 of the second (10,0 %), demonstrating the effectiveness of the flower therapy in the treatment of the mentioned disorder.

Medicina tradicional, complementaria o alternativa en la medicina militar / Traditional, complementary and alternative medicine in military health care

Cuba presenta logros en el desarrollo de la medicina tradicional y natural, aunque no existen publicaciones con respecto al impacto de estos resultados. Resulta un tema de interés el modo en que se integran dichas modalidades y sistemas de tratamiento a los servicios médicos de los ejércitos de otros países. El objetivo es revisar el desarrollo que actualmente alcanza la medicina tradicional/medicina complementaria y alternativa, en la medicina militar a nivel internacional. Se identifican algunas estadísticas relativas a su utilización por efectivos militares, veteranos y familiares; así como las proyecciones de algunos ejércitos sobre el tema y ejemplos de investigaciones, que incluye la aplicación en desastres naturales. Se exponen las ventajas del uso de estas modalidades en el medio militar y las recomendaciones que han sido propuestas para su desarrollo futuro. El análisis de estos elementos permite reflexionar acerca del valor de la medicina tradicional y natural en Cuba, para la preparación de los médicos militares y la aplicación de estos recursos en diversas situaciones excepcionales. Se concluye que se emplea en la actualidad, la medicina tradicional/medicina complementaria y alternativa, en el ámbito de la medicina militar a nivel internacional.

Cuba has made progress in the development of traditional and natural medicine, but there are no publications about the impact of those results. Integration of traditional and natural treatment modes and systems into the health care services of armies in other countries is a topic of great interest. The purpose of the present study is to review the current status of traditional / complementary and alternative medicine in military health care around the world. The paper includes some statistics about the use of traditional / complementary and alternative medicine by military personnel, veterans and their relatives, as well as the projections of some armies with respect to the topic and examples of research work done, including its application in natural disaster situations. A presentation is made of the advantages of these treatment modes in the military sector, and recommendations proposed for its future development. Analysis of these topics allows reflection on the value of traditional and natural medicine in the training of military physicians in Cuba, and on the application of these resources in a variety of exceptional situations. It is concluded that traditional / complementary and alternative medicine is currently used in the military sector around the world.

En el presente artículo se aborda el ejercicio de la medicina tradicional y natural, mediante un análisis desde la teoría de las complejidades, con una interpretación de la organización y existencia de los seres vivos, a partir de regularidades no aplicadas en la medicina alopática y la medicina bioenergética al atender al hombre y su entorno sociocultural, lo cual propicia una práctica médica más sistémica, eficiente y ética. Además, se pretende perfeccionar la medicina bioenergética complementada por el enfoque sistémico complejo y su aplicación en diferentes escenarios. La citada teoría fortalece la visión científica de la medicina tradicional y natural desde los puntos de vista teórico y práctico.

In this work, the use of the traditional and natural medicine is investigated, by means of an analysis from the theory of complexities, with an interpretation of the organization and the existence of the alive beings, from regularities not applied in the alopathic and bioenergetic medicine, when assisting man and his social and cultural environment, which favors a more systemic, efficient and ethical medical practice. Besides, it is intended to improve the bioenergetic medicine, supplemented by the complex systemic approach and its application in different scenarios. The mentioned theory strengthens the scientific vision of the traditional and natural medicine from the theoretical and practical points of view.

Conocimiento de los especialistas y residentes de Medicina Natural y Tradicional sobre los ensayos clínicos / Knowledge of the specialist and residents of Natural and Traditional Medicine on the clinical researches

La Medicina Natural y Tradicional ha entrado en una nueva etapa de desarrollo con el incremento en la demanda de sus alternativas terapéuticas. Se realizó una investigación descriptiva transversal, mediante la cual se identificaron las necesidades de aprendizaje de 20 médicos, entre especialistas y residentes de Medicina Natural y Tradicional, acerca de los aspectos básicos de ensayos clínicos. Existe desconocimiento acerca de las fases y pilares fundamentales de un ensayo clínico y los aspectos éticos importantes al ser una investigación en seres humanos, por lo que demuestra la falta de capacitación que existe sobre el tema. Es imprescindible fomentar una cultura de ensayos clínicos en los médicos que se desempeñan en el área de la Medicina Natural y Tradicional. Esto permitiría elevar la calidad y rapidez con que se desarrollan estos estudios en Cuba.

The Natural and Traditional Medicine has entered a new developmental stage with the increase in the requests of its therapeutic alternatives. We carried out a crossed descriptive research, through which we identified the learning necessities of 20 doctors, between specialist and residents of Traditional and Natural Medicine, about the main aspects of clinical researches. There is a lack of knowledge on the main phases and bases of a clinical research and on the important ethical aspects for being a research in human beings, showing the lack of knowledge on the theme. It is unavoidable to promote a culture of clinical researches among the doctors working in the area of Traditional and Natural Medicine. This will allow increasing the quality and speed of these researches development in Cuba.

El conocimiento de la Ética-Bioética del especialista de Medicina Tradicional y Natural: I parte / The knowing of ethics and bioethics of tradicional, natural medicine: part I

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, longitudinal, en Ciudad de La Habana en los Centros de Desarrollo y Departamentos de Hospitales de Medicina Tradicional y Natural, en el período comprendido entre marzo del 2003 a marzo del 2004, con el objetivo de evaluar el cumplimiento de la responsabilidad moral del médico especialista en Medicina Tradicional y Natural y su relación con el nivel de conocimientos sobre Ética y Bioética. El universo fue de 90 profesionales que tuvieran más de 1 año de experiencia como médico tradicionalista, donde la muestra coincidió con el universo. Para ello se definieron algunas variables de la competencia y el desempeño profesional. Para la recogida de información se diseñó un cuestionario, el cual se evaluó cualitativamente y se establecieron escala de suficientes, pocos y ningún conocimiento. La mayor proporción de médicos son mujeres, especialistas de Medicina General Integral. Los principios mejores identificados fueron la no maleficencia y la autonomía, y los especialistas en Medicina Tradicional y Natural poseen en general suficientes conocimientos sobre los principios éticos y bioéticos. En los servicios de Medicina Tradicional y Natural predominan las profesionales del sexo femenino, graduadas de la especialidad de Medicina General Integral, con edades entre 40 y 49 años y con 10 años o más de experiencia, la mitad de las cuales laboran en la APS y están diplomadas en MTN y poseen, de forma general, suficientes conocimientos sobre los principios éticos y bioéticos.

A descriptive, longitudinal study was done, in the City of the Havana in the Centers of Development and the Departments of Hospitals of Traditional and Natural Medicine, in a period from March 2003 and 2004. Objectives: To evaluate the execution of the specialist doctor's moral responsibility in Traditional and Natural Medicine and their relationship with the level of knowledge on ethics and bioethical. The universe belonged to 90 professionals that had more than 1 year of experience in traditionalism, where the sample matched the universe. For them some variables were defined for the competition and the professional acting. An interview was designed to collect the information. Which was evaluated qualitatively and they settled down a scale of enough knowledge, few and any knowledge. The largest proportion of doctors was female, specialists of Integral General Medicine. The principles better identified were the non balefulness and the autonomy and the specialists in Traditional and Natural Medicine they possess in way general enough knowledge on the ethical principles and bioethics. In the services of Traditional and Natural Medicine the professionals of the feminine sex prevailed, graduated of the specialty of Integral General Medicine, with ages between 40 and 49 years and with 10 years or more of experience, half of such work in the primary attention of health and they are graduates in MTN and they possess in way general enough knowledge on the ethical principles and bioethics.

El conocimiento de la Ética-Bioética del especialista de Medicina Tradicional y Natural: II parte / The knowing of ethics and bioethics of tradicional, natural medicine: II Part

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, longitudinal en la Ciudad de La Habana en los Centros de Desarrollo de Medicina Tradicional y Natural y los Departamentos de Hospitales de MTN de Ciudad de La Habana, en el período comprendido entre marzo del 2003 a marzo del 2004. Se evalúa el cumplimiento de la responsabilidad moral profesional del médico en la especialidad de Medicina Tradicional y Natural en la sociedad cubana actual. El universo y la muestra fue de 90 profesionales con más de un año de experiencia en su labor como médico tradicionalista. Se utilizó el método de observación participante a través de una guía de observación. Para ello se definieron algunas variables de la competencia y el desempeño profesional de estos médicos. Las principales habilidades morales de los médicos fueron: no establecieron diferencias en la atención médica, según las condiciones biológicas y sociales; no se estableció relación entre los conocimientos éticos y bioéticos de los principios y las habilidades morales, y fueron reconocidos la integralidad, la relación del hombre con la naturaleza, la relación hombre-hombre y la unión del cuerpo con las emociones como valores que aporta la Medicina Tradicional y Natural a las otras ciencias(AU)

A descriptive longitudinal study was carried out the City of the Havana in the centers of development of Traditional and Natural Medicine and the Departments of Hospitals of MTN of the City of the Havana, in the period from March of the year 2003 to March of the year 2004; to evaluate the execution of the doctor's professional moral responsibility in the specialty of Traditional and Natural Medicine in the current Cuban society. Method: The universe and the sample belonged to 90 professionals with more than a year of experience in its work as prescribing traditionalists. The method of participant observation was through an observation guide. For them, some variables were defined: the competition and the professional acting of these doctors. Results and conclusions: The main moral abilities of the doctors were, they didn't establish differences in the medical attention according to the biological and social conditions, relationship didn't settle down between the ethical knowledge and bioethics of the principles and the moral abilities and the integralidad was recognized, the man's relationship with the nature, the relationship man - man and the union of the body with emotions like values that contribute the Traditional and Natural Medicine to other sciences(AU)
