ABSTRACT

Although voluntary blood donation may be hindered by traditional Chinese culture, Chinese traditional culture does not only have a negative effect on voluntary blood donation. Among them, the concepts of "self-restraint" and "benevolence" can help people devote themselves to voluntary blood donation, but the value pursuit of body integrity in traditional culture is still noteworthy. From the perspective of "sacrificing life for righteousness", the traditional culture’s emphasis on the inviolability of the body is not absolute. Under special circumstances, moderate and slight damage to the body for the public interest is permitted and supported by Confucian ethics. Voluntary blood donation obviously belongs to this special situation, and its legitimacy can be justified by the body ethics advocated by Mencius. "Self-restraint" and "benevolence" are ideological helps to guide people to practice voluntary blood donation.

ABSTRACT

The research on endophytes of medicinal plants mainly relies on the traditional culture and isolation methods. Because of their functions such as promoting host growth, improving stress resistance, promoting the accumulation of medicinal active ingredients or directly producing medicinal active ingredients, the endophytes of medicinal plants have gradually attracted wide attention. However, it was found that the strains isolated by traditional methods were not the true dominant endophytes of medicinal plants by comparing the results of traditional culture isolation with high-throughput sequencing. The blind and random nature of traditional methods leads to the lack of standards in terms of medium selection, culture time and interaction between species. On the contrary, high-throughput sequencing technology is an emerging molecular biology technology developed in recent decades. Due to its high resolution level and indepen-dent culture, it can be used for thorough analysis of the community structure and diversity of environmental microorganisms. Therefore, we proposed the strategy of using high-throughput sequencing technology to guide the traditional culture and isolation of endophytes from medicinal plants. Firstly, the endophytic structure and diversity of medicinal plants were completely clear by high-throughput sequencing technology, and the dominant endophytes of the host were unequivocal. Then according to the characteristics of each dominant endophytes design or query suitable medium for its growth to culture and isolation. Finally, the function of the isolates was studied. This method can prevent researchers from missing out on the important functional strains of the host, expand the research scope of endophytes of medicinal plants, and facilitate the in-depth excavation and utilization of endophytes of medicinal plants.

ABSTRACT

To study the cultural beliefs of medical students and its relationship with depression.A questionnaire survey was conducted among 977 medical students using the Chinese Traditional Culture Belief Scale (CTCBS) and Nine Item-Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9).The total score of medical students' cultural belief was 48.34± 7.31, and 54.4% of them had clear cultural belief. Cultural belief did not differ significantly among the medical students with different genders, places of residence or economic status, but those with ideals and beliefs had significantly higher cultural belief than those without (48.87±7.40 47.09±6.95, < 0.001). Cultural belief was negatively correlated to depression among the medical students (=-0.215, < 0.001), and those with a high-level cultural belief had lower levels of depression (6.09±3.88 7.42 ± 3.82 9.00 ± 4.90, < 0.001). The total and all the dimensions scores of CTCBS of the students without depressive symptoms were significantly higher than those in students with depressive symptoms. The medical students with lower cultural beliefs had a higher positive rate for depression screening (37.8% 18.8% 12.2%).Medical students have a high level of cultural beliefs. Strong culture beliefs are beneficial to relieve depression symptoms and reduce the incidence rate of depression. Chinese traditional culture education should be strengthened in the quality education of medical students.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The rapid increase in agricultural production, extractive activities and demographic expansion have caused soil degradation and the modification of the dynamic equilibrium of an ecosystem due, among other things, to a drastic change in traditional forms of agriculture such as the decrease in rest periods between crop and fallow land. Objective: To describe the fallow land dynamics from its origin, as well as its influence on the use and transformation of the soil from the environmental point of view in a historical context. Methodology: The method used was the consultation in databases of indexed journals using keywords such as: fallow, rest, soil, Andean cultural practices, agricultural practices, traditional agriculture and paramo without discarding articles by publication date. Results: The evidence found in the scientific literature indicates that fallow is a traditional cultural practice that can be an appropriate model for the design of agroecosystems favoring positively environmental conditions and the sustainability of strategic ecosystems, as is the case of the paramos, whose primary vocation is conservation.

ABSTRACT

" Filial piety" is China's traditional culture. It not only educates the offspring to be grateful and to repay good deeds, but more importantly guides people to take up social responsibilities and obligations. However, there are always contradiction dilemmas between loyalty and filial piety in reality. With the change of the times, this kind of contradiction is getting more prominent.Rethinking the choice of " raising the children but not provi-ding for the elderly" or choosing for helplessness, the causes of which include: the development of medical technol-ogy aggravates the contradiction between the ability and the cost of providing for the elderly, the contradiction be-tween the prolongation of the life of the elderly and the limitation of their children's ability to support them; Chi-na's one-child policy for more than 30 years has weakened the support capacity of the offspring; urban develop-ment leads to population migration and challenges family pension; the instability of family structure affects providing for the elderly; social pension is inadequately prepared and so on.To guarantee intergenerational equity and im-prove people's quality of life,it should advocate the scientific view of providing for the elderly, which must respect the elderly's autonomy, improve and promote the assessment and supervision of basic needs such as living will, hospice care, and medical abandonment.Through carrying out relevant research,it should establish a systematic project of good Chinese-style scientific pension and improve the social pension security system.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Objective To guide new nurses to establish positive and correct occupational self-concept, enhance occupational identity and delay job burnout by adding traditional culture education in the standardized training for newly recruited nurses. Methods Randomly selected 56 new nurses of our hospital in recent years as research objects. 28 nurses enrolled in 2013 formed the experimental group and 28 nurses enrolled in 2014 formed the control group. The experimental group focused on nurses themselves. In the 10-month standardized training, 30 class-hour traditional culture education was added and more than 180 times of social practices were conducted; for the control group, only standardized training was carried out. Effects before and after, all subjects were examined occupational self-concept and desert jobs rate after work 2 years. Results The occupational self-concept of the experimental group tended to reach a positive level, which was (33.14±2.15) points, obviously higher than that of the control group, which was only (30.57 ± 3.03) points. Therefore, the difference was statistically significant(t=3.703 4,P0.05). Conclusions Adding traditional culture education in the standardized training for newly recruited nurses plays a positive role in promoting their occupational self-concept.
