ABSTRACT

Abstract Objectives: In this study, we analyzed the validation and effects of a brief intervention of Attachment-Based Compassion Therapy (ABCT). Specifically, the aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of this brief protocol in improving compassion and other related variables. Method: The intervention consists of two five-hour sessions, in a controlled trial with one intervention group (ABCT) and one control group. Before and after the intervention, a short questionnaire was administered, focused on compassion and other related variables (i.e. transcendence beliefs, happiness, endo-group solidarity, and global identity). Participants in the experimental group were 17 healthy adults (i.e., students and university teachers) attending a compassion intervention based on ABCT. The control group was composed of 44 participants who did not attend the intervention. Results: Results showed that, compared to the control group, the brief ABCT intervention significantly improved compassion, which was the main aim of the intervention, and further analysis showed that it also significantly increased transcendence beliefs and endo-group solidarity. Moreover, the ABCT intervention were empirically validated. Conclusions: These results confirm and validate the potential of a brief ABCT intervention.


Resumen Objetivos: Este estudio pretende analizar la validación y los efectos de una intervención breve centrada en la Terapia de compasión basada en los estilos de apego (ABCT). Específicamente, se trata de evaluar la eficacia de este breve protocolo para mejorar la compasión y otras variables relacionadas. Método: La intervención consta de dos sesiones de cinco horas, en un ensayo controlado con un grupo de intervención (ABCT) y un grupo control. Antes y después de la intervención, se administró un cuestionario, centrado en la compasión y otras variables relacionadas (creencias de trascendencia, felicidad, solidaridad endogrupal e identidad global). Los participantes en el grupo experimental fueron 17 adultos sanos (estudiantes y profesores universitarios) que asistieron a una intervención de compasión basada en ABCT. El grupo de control estuvo compuesto por 44 participantes que no asistieron a la intervención. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron que en comparación con el grupo control, la intervención breve ABCT mejoró significativamente la compasión, que era el objetivo principal de la intervención, y un análisis posterior mostró que también aumentaron significativamente las creencias de trascendencia y la solidaridad endogrupal. Además, la intervención ABCT fue validada empíricamente. Conclusiones: Estos resultados confirman y validan el potencial de una intervención breve en ABCT.

ABSTRACT

Abstract As human relations change the way they develop social support, social networks have become crucial to human interaction and overall subjective welfare. Critical social networks, such as Facebook, have developed hundreds upon millions of virtual communities and influence the way individuals interact with one another. This literature review aims to explore the following positive and negative implications of the use of Facebook. a) Facebook plays a negative role in the users' welfare and self-esteem. b) Facebook is also used as a communication tool to positively impact ongoing social support or increase the users' feeling of self-worth. c) Facebook can influence one's ability to detach from the external definitions of self and dissolve the rigid link between oneself and others, enabling transcendence, leading to an increased sense of self-worth. d) Lastly, the five-factor model of personality can be used to explore online and offline behavior and its impact on Self Esteem. Results of these final dimensions indicated that both (i) Neuroticism and (ii) Extraversion were positively associated with Facebook behavioral addiction, whereas (iii) Openness to Experience, (iv) Agreeableness, and (v) Conscientiousness were negatively associated with a Facebook behavioral addiction. These positive associations suggest thematic relevance and are noteworthy for future academic research. This review serves as a foundation for assessing current findings and offering recommendations for future exploration, encouraging the academic community to conduct further research as the new era of technology unfolds.

ABSTRACT

Este trabajo pretende mostrar el papel determinante de la percepción en la constitución del mundo de la vida y cómo éste, a pesar de la diversidad de las experiencias perceptivas, mantiene su unidad. El objetivo es mostrar, mediante un recorrido en las principales obras de Husserl, la profunda relación entre la percepción y la constitución del sentido del mundo único. El mundo entendido como horizonte nos permite retrostectivamente avanzar a las expericias constitutivas entre la que prima la vivencia originaria de la percepción. Esto pone de relieve la experiencia subjetiva en la constitución de sentido del mundo de la vida.


This work aims to show the determining role of perception in the constitution of Lifeworld and how it, despite the diversity of perceptual experiences, maintains its unity. The aim is to show, through a tour of the main works of Husserl, the profound relationship between perception and the constitution of the meaning of the unique world. The world understood as horizon allows us to retrospectively advance to the constitutive experiences among which the original lived experience of perception prevails. This highlights the subjective experience in the constitution of meaning of the Lifeworld.


Este trabalho tem como objetivo mostrar o papel determinante da percepção na constituição do mundo-da-vida e como, apesar da diversidade de experiências perceptivas, mantém a sua unidade. O objetivo é mostrar, através de um tour pelas principais obras de Husserl, a relação profunda entre a percepção e a constituição do significado do mundo único. O mundo entendido como horizonte nos permite avançar retrospectivamente para as experiências constitutivas entre as quais prevalece a experiência original de percepção. Isso destaca a experiência subjetiva na constituição do significado do mundo-da-vida.

Resumen Introducción: este artículo es el resultado de un proyecto de investigación basado en la descripción de las características de la espiritualidad de los jóvenes de la Corporación Universitaria Lasallista realizado entre 20162018. Objetivo: interpretar las características que conforman la espiritualidad de los jóvenes en la Corporación Universitaria Lasallista. Materiales y métodos: se realizó a partir de un enfoque cualitativo. El método empleado fue el hermenéutico y la aplicación de técnicas de recolección de datos como la encuesta a 346 jóvenes de la Corporación Universitaria Lasallista, a través de un cuestionario por correo conformado con preguntas abiertas, en donde los participantes describieron su espiritualidad. Además, se realizaron cinco grupos focales con un grupo de estudiantes y docentes. Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó la técnica de triangulación. Resultados: entre los resultados más relevantes del estudio, se concluye que los jóvenes relacionan la espiritualidad con creencias en una fuerza divina en la cual, la mayoría le otorgan un sentido trascendente que le da sentido a su existencia. En cuanto a la manera como los jóvenes expresan y viven la espiritualidad se halla que gira en torno a apuestas plurales. Conclusiones: se evidencia que no hay la presencia de un tipo de espiritualidad, sino que cada joven tiene una manera diferente de constatar su búsqueda de lo sagrado en la vida y, la alimenta desde las creencias y la similitud con el sentido de vida.


Abstract Introduction: This article is the result of a research project based on the description of the characteristics of the spirituality of young people of the Lasallian University Corporation. Objective: Interpret the characteristics that form the spirituality of young people in the Lasallian University Corporation. Materials and methods: The work was carried out based on a qualitative approach. The main method applied was hermeneutics and data collection techniques such as the survey were applied to 346 young people of the Lasallian University Corporation, through a mail questionnaire made up of open-ended questions where participants described their spirituality. In addition, there were five focus groups with a group of students and teachers. The triangulation technique was used to analyze the data. Results: Among the most relevant results of the study, it is concluded that young people relate spirituality to beliefs in a divine force to which the majority grant a transcendent meaning that gives meaning to their existence. As for the way young people express and live spirituality, it is found that it revolves around plural bets. Conclusions: It is evident that there is no presence of a type of spirituality, but that each young person has a different way of confirming their search for the sacred in life and feeds it from beliefs and similarity to the meaning of life.


Resumo Introdução: esta reflexão de pesquisa emerge no marco da situação que vivia Colômbia a fim de consolidar o acordo da paz, é por isso que, se fiz necessário centrar o olhar na formação de educadores, pois estes são atores sociais, éticos e políticos que com seu trabalho pedagógico aportam à construção uma cultura de paz. Neste sentido, o objetivo esteve orientado para revelar as práticas discursivas em torno à educação para a paz e construção de cidadania que circulam e se apropriam na formação de educadores em oito faculdades de educação e dois normais superiores no departamento de Antioquia. Os materiais e métodos: a pesquisa é qualitativa com a abordagem fenomenológico e documental, as técnicas utilizadas: entrevista, grupo focal e análise documental; os instrumentos: guia de entrevista, guia de grupo focal e o ficho para a análise de documentos institucionais. A análise se realizou com a informação que emitia cada instrumento e posteriormente se triangulou em uma matriz de quatro quadrantes do sentido proposto pelos pesquisadores. Os resultados: os sentidos das práticas discursivas se plantearam desde quatro perspectivas, que são subjetiva, objetiva, intersubjetiva e interobjetiva. Se Conclui que os sentidos das práticas discursivas estão situados desde o subjetivo no próprio saber, sentir e vivência. O objetivo nas experiências, protocolos e estratégias. O intersubjetivo na inter-relação e cultura discursiva e a interobjetiva se refere à institucionalização e aplicação explícita das políticas educativas.

ABSTRACT Objectives: the current study aimed to adapt the Self-Transcendence Scale (STS) to the Spanish context and analyse its psychometric properties. Method: the STS was administered to a general Spanish population of adults (i.e., older than 20 years; n = 116) through an online platform. The Psychological Well-Being (PWB) and the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy - Spiritual Well-being - modified version for healthy people (FACIT-Sp-Non-Illness) scales were also applied in two moments separated by an interval of 15 days. Results: the results of the validation included the following statistics: α t = 0.772 (test) and α rt = 0.833 (retest); ICC = 0.278 (p = 0.097, intraclass) and 0.932 (p < 0.001, interclass); a Bland-Altman confirmation of the test/re-test (TRT) concordance; global content validity coefficient (S-CVI) = 0.92; r 1 = 0.636 (PWB) and r 2 = 0.687 (FACIT-Non-Illness; both p < 0.001); and three factors explained 42.3% of the variance. The STS showed positive apparent validity and feasibility. Conclusions: the Spanish version of the STS is valid for use in the general population, with updates relative to the Colombian version that include more natural wordings, syntactic corrections, inclusive language, a better definition of the concepts, and an alternative factor model.


RESUMO Objetivos: o presente estudo teve como objetivo adaptar a Escala de Autotranscendência (Self-Transcendence Scale - STS) ao contexto espanhol e analisar as suas propriedades psicométricas. Método: a STS foi aplicada a uma amostra da população geral de espanhóis adultos (maiores de 20 anos de idade; n= 116) através de uma plataforma online. Também foram aplicadas as escalas de Bem Estar Psicológico (Psychological Well-Being-PWB) e Avaliação Funcional do Tratamento de Doenças Crônicas, Bem Estar Espiritual modificada para sujeitos saudáveis (Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy, Spiritual Well-being, modified version for healthy people-FACIT-Sp-Non-Illness) em dois momentos, com intervalo de 15 dias. Resultados: os resultados da validação incluem: α t = 0,772 (teste) e α rt = 0,833 (reteste); CCI = 0,278 (p = 0,097, intraclasse) e 0,932 (p < 0.001, interclasse); confirmação de concordância no teste-reteste (TRT) pelo método do Bland-Altman; coeficiente global de validade de conteúdo (CVC)= 0.92; r 1 = 0,636 (PWB) and r 2 = 0,687 (FACIT-Non-Illness; p < 0,001 em ambos); três fatores explicaram 42,3% da variância. A STS teve validade aparente e viabilidade positivas. Conclusões: a versão espanhola da STS é válida para uso na população geral, e traz atualizações em relação à versão colombiana, incluindo expressões mais naturais, correções sintáticas e linguísticas, melhor definição dos conceitos e um modelo fatorial alternativo.

Método: la STS se administró a una población española general de adultos (es decir, mayores de 20 años, n = 116) por medio de una plataforma en línea. Las escalas de Bienestar Psicológico (EBP) y la de Evaluación Funcional para el Tratamiento de Enfermedades Crónicas - Bienestar Espiritual - versión modificada para personas sanas (FACIT-Sp-Non-Illness) también se aplicaron en dos momentos separados por un intervalo de 15 días. Resultados: los resultados de la validación incluyeron los siguientes parámetros estadísticos: αt = 0,772 (prueba) y αrt = 0,833 (reprueba); CCI = 0,278 (p = 0,097, intraclase) y 0,932 (p <0.001, interclase); una confirmación de Bland-Altman de la concordancia de test-retest (TRT, por sus siglas en inglés); índice global de validez de contenido (S-CVI, por sus siglas en inglés) = 0,92; r 1 = 0,636 (EBP) y r 2 = 0,687 (FACIT-Non-Illness; ambos p <0,001); y tres factores explicaron el 42.3% de la varianza. La STS mostró una validez aparente y viabilidad positivas. Conclusiones: la versión española de la STS es válida para su uso en la población general, con actualizaciones relativas a la versión colombiana que incluyen redacciones más naturales, correcciones sintácticas, lenguaje inclusivo, una mejor definición de los conceptos y un modelo alternativo factorial.

ABSTRACT

Introducción: Por regla general todos los trabajadores de la salud han sido modelados por el paradigma científico de la modernidad que ha hecho una separación drástica entre cuerpo y mente y entre ser humano y naturaleza. Pero porque no se ha considerado en el abordaje de la espiritualidad en paciente sanos o con patologías que no necesariamente amenazan la vida? Esta interrogante debe darse respuesta tanto desde el punto de vista holístico y como parte de la ética del cuidado. No se puede separar al ser humano al cuidarlo solo en lo biológico o psicológico, el aspecto espiritual ha de ser abordado. Objetivos: Determinar qué aspectos de la Bioética están relacionados con la espiritualidad en el manejo de los pacientes. Paciente y Métodos: estudio cualitativo mediante Revisión sistemática de la literatura médica publicada en los siguientes buscadores: scielo, HINARI, pubmed, revisión de artículos publicados y manuales de Bioética y Espiritualidad, revisión de publicaciones en congreso, conferencias sobre Bioética y Espiritualidad. Resultados: El número total de artículos identificados fue de 101 (MEDLINE) y 135 (CINAHL). Después de tamizar, la recopilación de otros artículos que hablan sobre un aspecto de la espiritualidad, pero no el término en sí mismo (por ejemplo, la esperanza); la realización de búsquedas manuales en bibliografías o referido por sus compañeros que no se encuentran en la búsqueda de la literatura original, 58 artículos se consideraron pertinentes y se discuten aquí en el análisis temático. Los investigadores, que se sitúan en este campo, inevitablemente sugieren estudiar la espiritualidad desde una perspectiva más cualitativa, con el argumento de que porque la espiritualidad ha de ser experimentado que no se puede medir. Las palabras de McGrath encarnan la idea central de esta perspectiva, "conceptualmente, la espiritualidad no puede ser entendido como una entidad independiente que se mide y se registra. Los investigadores tienen que estar abiertos a la gran cantidad de formas en que los individuos construyen significado". Las necesidades espirituales de los pacientes de cuidados paliativos la naturaleza de la esperanza en los cuidados paliativos; herramientas y terapias relacionadas con la espiritualidad; efectos de la religión en los cuidados paliativos; y la espiritualidad y los profesionales de cuidados paliativos. En otros estudios se han informado que la espiritualidad y aspectos relacionados (por ejemplo, la oración, la meditación) han tenido un efecto positivo en: dolor crónico; psoriasis en pacientes que reciben fototerapia; función inmune; menos efectos adversos en pacientes cardíacos; mayor apoyo social y menos síntomas depresivos entre los pacientes geriátricos; aumento de la salud física y mental. Conclusión: existen evidencias para nada despreciables de que la espiritualidad tiene relación con el estado de salud y calidad de vida de las personas, que explorarlas, trabajarlas produce un bien en el ser persona del paciente, visto en su totalidad como ser digno en cualquier circunstancia, por tanto es ético tener que abordarlo adecuadamente


Introduction: As a general rule all health workers have been modeled by the scientific paradigm of modernity that has made a drastic separation between body and mind and between human and nature. But because it has not been considered in the approach of spirituality in healthy patients or with pathologies that do not necessarily threaten life? This question must be answered both holistically and as part of the ethics of care. It is not possible to separate the human being by taking care of it only in the biological or psychological, the spiritual aspect has to be approached. Objectives: To determine which aspects of bioethics are related to spirituality in the management of patients. Patient and Methods: qualitative study through Systematic Review of medical literature published in the following search engines: scielo, HINARI, pubmed, review of published articles and manuals Of Bioethics and Spirituality, review of publications in congress, conferences on Bioethics and Spirituality. Results: The total number of articles identified was 101 (MEDLINE) and 135 (CINAHL). After sifting, the compilation of other articles that speak about an aspect of spirituality, but not the term itself (eg, hope); The accomplishment of manual searches in bibliographies or referred by his companions that are not in the search of the original literature, 58 articles were considered pertinent and are discussed here in the thematic analysis. Researchers, who are in this field, inevitably suggest studying spirituality from a more qualitative perspective, arguing that because spirituality has to be experienced it can not be measured. McGrath's words embody the central idea of this perspective, "conceptually, spirituality can not be understood as an independent entity that is measured and recorded "Researchers have to be open to the myriad ways in which individuals construct meaning" the spiritual needs of palliative care patients the nature of hope in palliative care; Tools and therapies related to spirituality; Effects of religion on palliative care; And spirituality and palliative care professionals. Other studies have reported that spirituality and related aspects (eg, prayer, meditation) have had a positive effect on: chronic pain; Psoriasis in patients receiving phototherapy; Immune function; Fewer adverse effects in cardiac patients; Greater social support and fewer depressive symptoms among geriatric patients; Increased physical and mental health. Conclusion: there is no evidence that spirituality is related to the health and quality of life of people, to explore them, to work them produces a good in the person of the patient, seen in its totality as being worthy in any circumstance, So it is ethical to have to address it properly.

O estudo científico das experiências religiosas/espirituais tem sido negligenciado ao longo da história da Psicologia, ocasionando uma indiferenciação destas e dos sintomas psicóticos de conteúdo religioso/espiritual. O objetivo deste artigo foi analisar e comparar duas teorias: a Psicologia Integral, de Wilber, e o Modelo Psicobiológico de Cloninger, a fim de desenvolver critérios para diferenciar saúde e doença mental em experiências religiosas/espirituais. O conceito wilberiano de "Falácia Pré-Trans" aparece enquanto chave de leitura para a diferenciação entre experiência religiosas/espirituais e transtornos mentais, aproximando-se da concepção de maturidade de caráter observada nos conceitos de autodirecionamento e de autotranscendência de Cloninger.(AU)


The scientific study of religious/spiritual experiences has been neglected throughout the history of psychology causing a lack of differentiation between them and psychotic symptoms. The objective of this study was to analyze and compare two theories: Integral Psychology, by Wilber, and the Psychobiological Model, by Cloninger, in order to distinguish health and mental illness in religious/spiritual experiences. The Wilberian concept of "Pre-Trans Fallacy" is a reading key to differ religious/spiritual experiences from mental disorders. It is similar to the conception of Maturity of Character observed in Cloninger's concepts of Self-directedness and Self-transcendence.(AU)


El estudio científico de las experiencias religiosas/espirituales ha sido descuidado a lo largo de la historia de la Psicología causando una indiferencia de éstas y de los síntomas psicóticos de contenido religioso/espiritual. El objetivo de este artículo fue analizar y comparar dos teorías: la Psicología Integral, de Wilber, y el Modelo Psicobiológico de Cloninger, con el fin de desarrollar criterios para diferenciar salud y enfermedad mental en experiencias religiosas/espirituales. El concepto Wilberiano de "Falacia Pre-Trans" aparece como clave de lectura para la diferenciación entre la experiencia religiosa/espiritual y los trastornos mentales, acercándose a la concepción de madurez de carácter observada en los conceptos de Autodirección y Autotrascendencia de Cloninger.(AU)

La creación de modelos y teorías de enfermería, enfocadas en fenómenos específicos, contribuye a la práctica y el desarrollo de la disciplina de enfermería. Objetivo: presentar una derivación teórica y proponer un modelo sobre la teoría de autotrascendencia en personas dependientes del alcohol en proceso de recuperación. Materiales y métodos: se realizó una derivación teórica mediante la metodología propuesta por Walker y Avant. Resultados: adaptación del Modelo de Autotrascendencia en personas dependientes del alcohol en proceso de recuperación en Alcohólicos Anónimos. Conclusiones: el modelo puede ser útil para explicar cómo las personas dependientes del alcohol, que se encuentran en tratamiento, logran el bienestar y cuáles son los factores que influyen durante el proceso.


The creation of nursing models and theories focused on specific phenomena contributes to the practice and development of the discipline of nursing. Objective: The purpose of this study is to present a theoretical derivation and propose a model on the theory of self-transcendence in persons recovering from alcohol dependence. Materials and methods: A theoretical derivation was done using the method proposed by Walker and Avant. Results: Adaption of the self-transcendence model in alcohol-dependent persons who are involved in a recovery process as part of Alcoholics Anonymous. Conclusions: The model can be useful in explaining how alcohol dependent persons, who are in treatment, achieve well-being and what are the influencing factors during the process.


A criação de modelos e teorias de enfermagem enfocados em fenómenos específicos contribui para a prática e desenvolvimento da disciplina de enfermagem. Objetivo: apresentar uma derivação teórica e propor um modelo sobre a Teoria de Autotranscendência em pessoas dependentes do álcool em processo de recuperação. Materiais e métodos: realizou-se uma derivação teórica mediante a metodologia proposta por Walker e Avant. Resultados: adaptação do Modelo de Autotranscendência em pessoas dependentes do álcool em processo de recuperação em Alcóolicos Anônimos. Conclusões: o modelo pode ser útil para explicar como as pessoas dependentes do álcool, que se encontram em tratamento, atingem o bem-estar e quais são os fatores que influenciam durante o processo.

La espiritualidad como parte del cuidado holistico juega un papel importante ante la presencia de una enfermedad crónica como la cardiopatia; a través de las creencias y practicas que tienen los pacientes, pueden encontrar la fortaleza necesaria para sobrellevarla. Objetivo: Analizar el bienestar espiritual de los pacientes cardiopatas hospitalizados en una institución de salud. Material y Métodos: Estudio correlacional, prospectivo y transversal.

Os seres humanos evoluíram em etapas, de modo que nossa consciência desenvolveu três componentes centrais - aprendizagem processual de hábitos e habilidades, aprendizagem semântica de fatos e proposições e autoconsciência de uma identidade que se desenvolve ao longo do tempo e do espaço. Consequentemente, a consciência humana implica o crescimento de nossa subjetividade, integrando esses três aspectos da aprendizagem e da memória. A psiquiatria contemporânea é substancialmente comprometida por um viés antiespiritual que está implícito nas abordagens operacionais de diagnóstico, pesquisa e tratamento. A subjetividade humana não pode ser devidamente desconstruída em uma coleção de objetos independentes entre si, livres de qualquer contexto psicossocial, tal como a que é habitualmente assumida em uma abordagem do tipo "menu chinês" utilizada para o diagnóstico e entrevistas estruturadas. Perspectivas materialistas predispõem os indivíduos a assumirem uma visão de separação que compromete o bem-estar tanto dos profissionais de saúde mental quanto de seus pacientes. O progresso no diagnóstico psiquiátrico, bem como nas formas de tratamento, requer abordagem centrada na pessoa, capaz de respeitar e valorizar a subjetividade humana e promover o cultivo de virtudes tais como esperança, amor e coragem, bem como o uso criterioso de outros métodos psicobiológicos de tratamento. O funcionamento saudável requer o desenvolvimento da autotranscendência, além do autodirecionamento e da cooperatividade. Sem a autotranscendência as pessoas estão consumindo mais recursos do que a terra pode repor. A busca do bem-estar individual, na ausência do bem-estar coletivo, é uma ilusão autodestrutiva. Consequentemente, a psiquiatria contemporânea precisa centrar sua atenção na compreensão da consciência humana por meio de uma via ternária equilibrada, em vez de tentar reduzir as pessoas a objetos materiais separados.


Human beings have evolved in steps so that our consciousness has three major components - procedural learning of habits and skills, semantic learning of facts and propositions, and self-awareness of an identity that develops over time and place. Consequently, human consciousness involves growth in our subjective awareness integrating these three aspects of learning and memory. Contemporary psychiatry is substantially impaired by an anti-spiritual bias that is implicit in operational approaches to diagnosis, research, and treatment. Human subjectivity cannot be adequately deconstructed into a collection of mutually independent objects that are free of any psychosocial context, as is usually assumed in a "Chinese-menu" approach to diagnosis and structured interviewing. Materialistic perspectives predispose people to have an outlook of separateness that impairs the well-being of both mental health professionals and their patients. Progress in psychiatric diagnosis and treatment requires a person-centered approach that respects and appreciates human subjectivity and promotes the cultivation of human virtues like hope, love, and courage, along with judicious use of other psychobiological methods of treatment. Healthy functioning requires the development of self-transcendence in addition to self-directedness and cooperativeness. Without self-transcendence, people are consuming more resources than the earth can replenish. The pursuit of individual well-being in the absence of collective well-being is a self-destructive illusion. Consequently contemporary psychiatry needs to focus its attention on understanding human consciousness in a balanced ternary way rather than trying to reduce people to separate material objects.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the current situation and influencing factors of self-transcendence among the elderly people and provide the theoretical basis to improve the elderly people's self-transcendence level.Methods Totally 300 elderly people were recruited by convenience sampling from two communities in Taiyuan.They were investigated by questionnaires.Results The total score of self-transcendence was (43.83±7.29).Single factor analysis of variance and nonparametric test showed that the influencing factors of elderly people's self-transcendence level were education background,occupation before retirement,economic status,characteristics,the frequency of group activity,and the experience of significant events.Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that the education background and personality characteristics were the main influencing factors on the elderly people's self-transcendence.Conclusions Elderly people's family members,health care workers,and other social workers should pay high attention to the elderly people's self-transcendence level,take measures to increase their self-transcendence level and stimulate the elderly people's enthusiasm of self-management according to the influencing factors,so as to improve the elderly people's life quality,extend the healthy life expectancy,and finally achieve the whole healthy aging.

Subjective well being has been widely researched in the past few decades and in practical terms it is a term that encompasses the various ways people evaluate their lives including concepts such as life satisfaction, work and health etc. Since, it is well known, that psychological factors including stress, anxiety, poor sleeping habits etc are known to be important causes of life style disorders like myocardial infraction, we started with the hypothesis that subjective well being of post acute MI patients must be poorer compared to normal subjects in the same age group. A comparative study between normal subjects and post acute myocardial infarction patients was undertaken to compare their subjective well being and current mental health status, at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi using standardized questionnaires. The results showed significantly higher negative affect like inadequate mental mastery over immediate environment, perceived ill health including disturbed sleep, deficiency in social contacts, and a general ill being about life in the MI group (P<0.05). Regarding the positive emotions, the normal subjects showed a higher general well being positive affect, higher transcedence and higher perception of social support. (P<0.05). The GHQ also yielded significantly better sleeping habits, less anxiety, better perception of health and more satisfaction with life in the normal subjects compared to post acute MI patients. (P<0.05).

ABSTRACT

Objetivo: determinar el tipo de confort de los pacientes hospitalizados del servicio de Neurocirugía de la ESE Hospital Universitario Erasmo Meoz. Materiales y Métodos: el estudio tiene un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo descriptivo transversal, la muestra estuvo constituida por 10 pacientes. Se realizo la aplicación de los instrumentos validados de la teoría de mediano rango, el cuestionario de valoración verbal y cuestionario general de comodidad (GCQ, por su sigla en inglés) Resultados: el 30% de los pacientes refieren un confort bastante alto y alto; a mayores días de estancia hospitalaria el paciente evidencia mayor grado de confort; la edad de los pacientes no está relacionada con la percepción verbal de confort. Conclusiones: la respuesta total de comodidad de los pacientes según la escala verbal de Kolcaba se evidencia mayor porcentaje en confort bastante alto-alto, generando una vision de comodidad optima de los pacientes hospitalizados en el servicio en sus cuatro contextos y tipos.


Objective: To determine the type of comfort of patients hospitalized in the department of neurosurgery at the ¨Hospital Universitario Erasmo Meoz´. Materials and Methods: The study is a quantitative, descriptive crosssectional sample of 10 patients selected according to criteria of non-probability convenience sampling based on the model of Katharine Kolcaba through the application of validated tools of the theory of medium range, the verbal assessment questionnaire and overall comfort questionnaire (GCQ, for its acronym in English) identifying the types of comfort (relief, ease and transcendence) in the four contexts (physical, psycho spiritual, social and environmental). Results: 30% of patients report a very high and high comfort, a larger hospital stay the patient greater comfort evidence, the age of patients is not related to speech perception of comfort. Conclusions: The overall response of patient comfort scale as evidenced verbal Kolcaba higher percentage of high-high enough comfort, creating a vision of optimal comfort of patients hospitalized in the four contexts and their types.


Objetivo: determinar o tipo de conforto de internação serviço de Neurocirurgia do "Hospital Universitario Erasmo Meoz" . Materiais e Métodos: O estudo foi uma cruz quantitativo, descritivo, a amostra foi composta por 10 pacientes. Foi realizada a aplicação da teoria validado instrumentos de médio porte, o questionário de avaliação verbal e conforto questionário geral (GCQ, por sua sigla em Inglês). Resultados: 30% dos pacientes relatam conforto muito alta e alta; para o hospital aumentou ficar a evidência maior conforto do paciente, a idade dos pacientes não está relacionado com a percepção da fala de conforto. Conclusões: A resposta global de escala conforto do paciente, como evidenciado percentual Kolcaba maior verbal em conforto, em vez de alta de alta, criando uma visão de melhor conforto dos pacientes internados no serviço nos quatro contextos e tipos.

ABSTRACT

Robert Litman describes four remarkable cases where individuals reveal this repressed knowledge through dream analysis after the suicide of the “other.” In each case, there comes a moment of recognition of the significance of the dream such that the subject realizes culpability. And in each case, this culpability had to do with a communication breakdown that is revealed through psychoanalysis. I want to deconstruct the transference / counter-transference relationship as a symbiotic reciprocity. I do not venture forth unchanged as I transcend who I was through language with others. Language is alteration of subjectivity. I offer a criticism of certain understandings of alterity involved in psychotherapy by examining the general situation of the encounter with others through the peculiar language-event of psychotherapy. I must recognize that the threat of the alterity of the patient is also the promise of my ability to offer help. If we take seriously the transcendence of the language-event of therapy, we see that the process of altering another involves changes for all involved.


Robert Litman descreve quatro casos extraordinários em que indivíduos revelam esse conhecimento reprimido por meio da análise de sonhos após o suicídio do “outro”. Em cada caso, ocorre um momento de reconhecimento da significância do sonho tal que o sujeito se dá conta da culpabilidade. E, em cada caso, essa culpabilidade teve que ver com uma interrupção na comunicação que é revelada através da psicanálise. Quero desconstruir a relação transferência-contratransferência como uma reciprocidade simbiótica. Não ouso adiante, inalterado, quando transcendo quem eu era através da língua com outros. A língua é a alteração da subjetividade. Ofereço uma crítica de certas compreensões de alteridade envolvidas em psicoterapia pelo exame da situação geral do encontro com outros por meio do evento-língua, peculiar à psicoterapia. Devo reconhecer que a ameaça da alteridade do paciente é também a promessa da minha habilidade em oferecer ajuda. Se consideramos seriamente a transcendência do evento-língua da terapia, vemos que o processo de alteração do outro implica mudanças para todos os envolvidos.

ABSTRACT

Trata-se de um estudo sobre resiliência-capacidade do ser humano de enfrentar, sobrepor-se e ser fortalecido por experiências de adversidade que tem por objetivo discuti-la de acordo com a visão de Viktor Emil Frankl: a logoteoria. Descrevem-se vários conceitos de resiliência e a questão dos fatores de risco e fatores protetores. Em seguida, faz-se um estudo da logoteoria destacando os conceitos que tornam possível a resiliência: a dimensão noética do homem, visto como unidade múltipla, do que decorre a força de resistência do espírito e a responsabilidade; a busca de sentido como motivação primária; a autotranscendência e o autodistanciamento propiciado pelo humor e pela autocompreensão. Conclui-se que a resiliência torna-se uma das conseqüências de se encontrar o sentido da vida e movimentar-se para realizá-lo, permitindo dizer um "sim" à vida apesar de tudo.


This is a study about resilience - the human capacity to face, to overcome and to gain strength through experiences of adversity - which aims to discuss the issue according to the views of Viktor Emil Frankl: (logotheory). Various concepts of resilience are described, as is the issue of risk factors and protective factors. There then follows a study on logotheory, highlighting the concepts which make resilience possible: the human beingïs noetic dimension, man seen as a multiple unit, from which come strength of spirit and responsibility; the search for meaning as the primary motivation; self-transcendence; self-distancing - provided by humor and self-comprehension. In conclusion, resilience becomes one of the consequences of finding a meaning for life and moving towards its fulfillment, which makes it possible to say "yes" to life, despite everything.

ABSTRACT

This Qualitative nursing research used a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to discover meaning in an self-transcendence experience. The ultimate aim of the inquiry was to discover the essence of self-transcendence experience and to promote understanding. The study used van Manen's Methodology of phenmonological research. Multiple strategies for data collecting were utilized: in depth face-to-face interview and analysis of elders' literature. The following themes of experience emerged: Accepting becoming older as a natural phenomenon, transferring to one's own sons' and daughters' oriented life. Maintaining harmonious relationship with neighbors and peer, observing real situations with silence, forming internal integrity with perseverance, compromising own's real situation, actualizing one's death, giving up roots of life, depending on God and conforming to human limitation. From this study essential themes for understanding self-transcendence experience and needs for continuing inquiry were identified.
