ABSTRACT

In the tumor microenvironment, tumor cells and nerv e eells infiltrate each other, ultimately promoting the occurrence and development of tumor.Numerous evidence shows that neuro-genesis plays a key role in the regulation of tumor microenviron¬ment.By reviewing the interaction between neurogenesis and tumor and tumor microenvironment.this paper summarizes the factors including nerve growth factor that affects neurogenesis mediated tumor proliferation and metastasis, and the significance of tumor detection and treatment by regulating nerve signal.'Hie purpose of this study is to assist clinical treatment of tumor pro¬liferation and metastasis from the perspective of neurogenesis.

ABSTRACT

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are important immune cells in tumor microenvironment and are mainly divided into two subtypes: classical activated M1 macrophages and alternative activated M2 macrophages. In many kinds of cancers, TAMs are mainly M2-type and promote tumor proliferation, angiogenesis and induce tumor cell invasion and metastasis. At present, increasing evidences have been suggested that TAMs could interact with tumors cells to enhance the tumorigenesis. TAMs are expected to become the important target in clinical treatments. This article reviews the origin and function of TAMs and their roles in tumorigenesis.

ABSTRACT

Aquaporin 1 (AQP1), the first water channel protein discovered among the aquaporin family, is a hydrophobic transmembrane protein involved in transcellular water movement. Recent evidence shows that AQP1 plays a role in tumor cell proliferation and migration, angiogenesis and tumor development and progression, representing a potential therapeutic target. In this review, we discuss the structures, functions and inhibitors of AQP1, as well as the involvement of AQP1 in tumor development and progression.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between Dishevelled protein expression and the proliferation and invasion of glioma cells.Methods 67 cases of brain glioma specimens were collected.The expression of Dishevelled protein was detected with immunohistochemical method.The immunoreactivity score (IRS) of Dishevelled protein,and proliferation index (PⅠ) and invasion index (Ⅱ) were measured and their correlations were analyzed.Results The positive rate of Dishevelled protein in glioma was 65.7 % (44/67).IRS,PⅠ and Ⅱ were 4.15±3.13,(30.93±17.92) %,(20.38±13.36) %,respectively.Both PⅠ and Ⅱ significantly increased with an increase in the pathological grade of brain glioma (P < 0.001).Furthermore,PⅠ and Ⅱ were significantly higher in the Dishevelled protein-positive group than those in the Dishevelled protein-negative group [(38.27±17.60) % vs (16.02±8.92) % of PⅠ and (30.03±13.81) % vs (10.63±4.41) % of Ⅱ,respectively,P < 0.001].PⅠ and Ⅱ of glioma cells were positively correlated with IRS of Dishevelled protein (r =0.940 between PⅠ and IRS,and r =0.953 between Ⅱ and IRS,respectively).Conclusion Dishevelled protein plays an important role in the proliferation and invasion of brain malignant glioma.

ABSTRACT

Blood hypercoagulabale state of malignant tumor was the pathological basis of tumor blood stagnation,which led to tumor proliferation and metastasis and also influenced the therapeutic effect and prognosis of tumor.Based on knowledge of thrombin and tissue factor system,We discussed the mechanism blood hypercoagulabale leading to tumor proliferation and metastasis,and the influence of traditional Chinese drugs of activating blood circulation to dissipate blood smsis on tunlor proliferation and metastasis.We concluded that traditional Chinese drugs have sound effects on prevention and treatment of tumor proliferation and metastasis.

ABSTRACT

Background and purpose:Studies have shown that some molecular markers could serve as prognostic factors for nasopharynx carcinoma, but the predictive role of catenins and cyclin D1 remains uncertain for the disease. Our paper is to investigate the expression of catenins(?-,?- and ?-) and cyclin D1 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma as well as to analysis their relation to clinic factors and prognosis. Methods:We retrieved 38 paraffin-embedded specimens of nasopharynx carcinoma, immunohistochemistry was used to examine the expression of ?-,?- and ?-catenin , cyclin D1 and tumor proliferation activity marker ki-67.Results:Reduced expression of ?-,?- ,?-catenin and cyclin D1 was observed in most of the tumors. Our preliminary study demonstrated that there was no significant correlation between their expression with T-stage, N-stage, clinical stage and primary tumor volume, as well as with ki-67 stain. In unviarance analysis, patients with reduced expression of ?-catenin had poorer prognosis than those with high expression, 5 year overall survival and disease free survival rates of these two groups were 53.2%, 29.0% and 81.9%, 76.0%, respectively(P
