ABSTRACT

The first examination of the new board of the Japanese cardiovascular surgery took place in 2022. As it is a transitional period for the new system, many doctors are not familiar with the changes and details of the new system, and some have their concerns. Here, we held a round-table discussion with doctors who actually took the new board of the Japanese cardiovascular surgery under the new system, and we summarized their opinion.

ABSTRACT

Lately, there has been a trend towards integration among cardiovascular surgery institutions. However, local institutions continue to play a crucial role in community-based medicine, given the emergent nature of cardiovascular diseases and the challenges involved in transporting patients with such conditions over long distances. We present the results of a questionnaire survey we conducted to examine the current status and issues faced by cardiovascular surgery institutions in community-based medicine.

ABSTRACT

In the U-40 column, we conducted a questionnaire survey of the U-40 generation on the theme of the specialist system for cardiovascular surgery and reported on the present condition and problems in obtaining certification. With the introduction of a new system, off the job training and participatory training using extracorporeal circulation techniques were newly mandated. In this article, we report the results and discussion of the questionnaire survey regarding the present condition of extracorporeal circulation training for the U-40 generation and the pros and cons of training programs.

ABSTRACT

The Japanese board of cardiovascular surgery has changed the requirements for the certification of cardiovascular surgeons. The requirements include Off the Job Training and the training of extracorporeal circulation. The role of training facilities should be changed because of its duty. We showed a questionnaire survey about the new requirements for young cardiovascular surgeons in Hokkaido. We hope this article shows what is required for the training facilities in the new era.

ABSTRACT

The system of the Japanese Board of Cardiovascular Surgery is changing. Since the last time, we have deliberated on the medical specialty board for U-40 column articles about the problems faced by young cardiovascular surgeons. This time, we conducted the second survey to U-40 members about the realities of becoming a board-certified cardiovascular surgeon. The results showed the circumstances and details on how to acquire the board certification. Moreover, we discussed about the current problems and future perspectives for the young cardiovascular surgeons.
