ABSTRACT
A autora apresenta uma súmula do mito do herói Ájax Telamônio e sua presença marcante na Guerra de Troia. O herói é apresentado como reclamante da benesse de receber as armas de Aquiles, como de seu direito, por julgar-se o mais importante guerreiro depois da morte do filho de Tétis. O sofrimento e as reflexões do herói, após ter sido vencido na disputa pela sagacidade de Ulisses e descrito na tragédia Ájax, de Sófocles, são apresentados como uma trama que retrata a antevisão da dinâmica de alteridade.
The author presents a summary of the myth of the hero Ajax Telamonio and his substantial presence in Trojan war. For the hero it is his right to receive Achille's weapons as he judges himself the most important warrior after the death of Thetis's son. The suffering and the reflections of the hero after being beaten in the dispute by Ulysses's sagacity - described in Ajax's tragedy by Sophocles - is presented as a plot that depicts the preview of the dynamics of otherness.

Este artigo analisa as relações entre a vaidade e o sofrimento conforme a obra Reflexões sobre a vaidade dos homens, do filósofo paulista Matias Aires Ramos da Silva de Eça (1705-1763). Discutem-se algumas fontes de seu pensamento e conclui-se que o autor faz uma fina e ainda atual análise da alma humana.
Este artículo analiza las relaciones entre la vanidad y el sufrimiento conforme a la obra "Reflexiones sobre la vanidad de los hombre" del filósofo paulista Matias Aires Ramos da Silva de Eça (1705-1763). Se discuten algunas fuentes de su pensamiento y se concluye que el autor hace una fina y todavía actual análisis del alma humana.
Cet article analyse les rapports entre la vanité et la souffrance selon l'uvre "Reflexões sobre a vaidade dos homens" (Réflexions sur la vanité des hommes) du philosophe Matias Aires Ramos da Silva de Eça (1705-1763), originaire de São Paulo. On y discute aussi quelques unes de ses sources et on conclut que ce philosophe a produit une analyse détaillée et toujours actuelle de l'âme humaine.
This article discusses the relationships between vanity and suffering according to the Brazilian philosopher Matias Aires Ramos da Silva de Eça (1705-1763) in his Reflexões sobre a vaidade dos homens (Reflections on Human Vanity). Some of his sources are also mentioned, and the author of the article concludes that Aires produced a splendid and still pertinent analysis of the human psyche.
