ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) technique in the diagnosis of acute rejection of transplant kidney at different stages. Methods Clinical data of 170 renal transplant recipients were retrospectively analyzed. According to the time of VTQ examination and the occurrence of acute rejection after renal transplantation, the recipients within 4 weeks and after 4 weeks post-renal transplantation were assigned into the normal renal function group (n=41, 51) and acute rejection group (n=22, 56). Clinical ultrasound parameters at different stages after renal transplantation were compared between two groups. The diagnostic value of ultrasound parameters in acute rejection at different stages after renal transplantation was evaluated. Results Within 4 weeks post-renal transplantation, the resistance index (RI) and shear wave velocity (SWV) in the acute rejection group were significantly higher than those in the normal renal function group (both P < 0.001). After 4 weeks post-renal transplantation, the SWV in the acute rejection group was significantly higher than that in the normal renal function group (P < 0.001). The area under curve (AUC) of RI and SWV in the diagnosis of acute rejection were 0.729 and 0.803 respectively within 4 weeks post-renal transplantation, which were 0.478 and 0.794 respectively after 4 weeks post-renal transplantation. The diagnostic value of SWV was higher than RI (P < 0.05). The cutoff value of SWV in the diagnosis of acute rejection within 4 weeks post-renal transplantation was considerably higher than that after 4 weeks post-renal transplantation. Conclusions VTQ technique can effectively assist in diagnosing acute rejection of transplant kidney at different stages.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare the diagnostic value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) technique and virtual touch tissue imaging quantification (VTIQ) technique in benign and malignant breast masses with different sizes. Methods: Totally 219 breast masses were selected and confirmed by pathology. According to the largest diameter, all masses were divided into three groups: 5-10 mm (S1 group), 11-20 mm (S2 group) and 21-39 mm (S3 group). The shear wave velocity (SWV) value (SWVVTQ) was obtained by VTQ examination, the SWV maximum value (SWVmax) and SWVmax to the SWV of the surrounding gland in the same depth (SWVratio) were obtained by VTIQ examination before surgery. The pathological results were used as the criteria to compare the diagnostic value of two virtual touch tissue quantification techniques for benign and malignant breast masses of different sizes. Results: There were significant differences in SWVVTQ, SWVmax, SWVratio between the benign and malignant breast masses in 3 groups (all P0.90. The difference of AUC between SWVVTQ and SWVmax, SWVratio was statistically significant in S1 group (P0.05). Conclusion: For breast masses with the largest diameter >10 mm, the diagnostic value of VTQ and VTIQ techniques are equivalent. For breast masses with the largest diameter ≤10 mm, VTIQ technology has higher diagnostic value than VTQ technology in the diagnosis of benign and malignant breast masses.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#A retrospective analysis of the predictive value of acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) elastography for esophageal varices in post-hepatitis B cirrhosis patients.@*Methods@#124 patients with post-hepatitis B cirrhosis who were admitted to Tianjin Second People’s Hospital from August 2016 to August 2017 were selected. According to the shape of esophageal varices under gastroscopy and the risk of bleeding, patients were divided into 4 groups, none, mild, moderate and severe. In ARFI mode, the VTQ function was used to detect the VTQ values of the liver and spleen. The receiver operating characteristic curve and area under the curve (AUC) were used to evaluate the diagnosis of esophageal varices by VTQ values of the liver and spleen. Analysis of variance was performed on the data between the groups, and χ 2 test was performed for categorical data.@*Results@#The difference in liver VTQ values between groups were statistically significant (F = 12.623, P < 0.01). There was a statistically significant difference in VTQ values between spleens (F = 9.022, P < 0.01). The liver VTQ predicts that the AUC value of mild esophageal varices in patients with cirrhosis was 0.701 (0.575-0.827); moderate varices was 0.802 (0.701-0.902); severe varices was 0.885 (0.784-0.986). The best cutoff value was 2.235, the specificity was 97.37%, the negative predictive value was 88.10%, and the accuracy was 90.16%. The VTQ value of spleen predicts the AUC value of mild esophageal varices in patients with liver cirrhosis was 0.688 (0.539-0.798); moderate varices were 0.762 (0.651-0.873); severe varices were 0.800 (0.671-0.928). The best cutoff value was 2.885, the specificity was 84.21%, and the negative predictive value was 82.05%.@*Conclusion@#The application of ARFI elastography in the determination of VTQ values of liver and spleen has certain predictive value for esophageal varices and it might be useful for primary screening of esophageal varices in post-hepatitis B cirrhosis patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To estimate cervical stiffness during late pregnancy with virtual touch tissue quantification technique(VTQ) and investigate the value of predicting the outcome of labor induction. Methods Cervical length in pregnancy women at 35 -41 weeks′gestation was measured through perineum ultrasound examination before labor induction,and then VTQ was applied to measure shear wave velocity (SWV)values in region of interest(ROI),the maximum,minimum and average of SWV values were obtained from multiple SWV measurement under the VTQ mode. The outcomes of labor induction were tracked and Bishop scores were recorded,vaginal delivery and cesarean delivery groups were compared using Student′s t-test for continuous variables. ROC curve was plotted to analyze the correlation between parameters and the outcome of labor induction and to determine the most accurate SWV value and cut-off value for diagnosis.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to determine which of the following parameters were significant predictors of the outcome of labor induction. Results The SWV mix,SWV max and SWV mean of vaginal delivery and cesarean section were (0.92 ± 0.13)m/s,(1.37 ± 0.14)m/s,(1.13 ± 0.10)m/s and (1.03 ± 0.13)m/s,(1.74 ± 0.42)m/s,(1.36 ± 0.11)m/s,respectively, there were significant differences between vaginal delivery and cesarean section(all P < 0.05).Based on ROC curve analysis,the SWV mean value in cervix was the best value for predicting the outcome of labor induction.The cut-off value of SWV mean value was 1.23 m/s,the sensitivity,specificity and Youden index were 93.8%,83.4%,0.77,respectively.The SWV value and cervical length were closely correlated to the outcome of labor induction,especially the SWV value according to multivariate logistic analysis. Conclusions VTQ can assess the cervical stiffness with SWV values during pregnancy,and it may have an application value of predicting the outcome of labor induction.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the application value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) technique in staging of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Methods VTQ examination was performed on a random sample of 96 CKD patients at different clinical stages and 45 healthy volunteers (control group). Shear wave velocity (SWV) of renal parenchyma was measured and compared. Correlation between SWV and clinical stage and glomeru-lar filtration rate (GFR) of CKD patients was analyzed. Results The SWV value of renal parenchyma decreased gradually, along with the progression of CKD disease and impairment of renal function. There was no significant difference(P>0.05)between the control group and the CKD1 group ( P=0.061), the CKD2 group and the CKD3 group (P = 0.238), and the CKD4 group and the CKD5 group (P = 0.624). The difference of SWV between the remaining groups was statistically significant(P < 0.05). SWV of renal parenchyma was negatively correlated with CKD stage (r =-0.65, P < 0.001), which means the higher the stage of CKD was associated with the lower the SWV. SWV was positively correlated with GFR (r = 0.73, P < 0.001), which means the lower the GFR was related to the lower the SWV. Conclusion VTQ technique can noninvasively reflect the changes of renal parenchyma elas-ticity and evaluate the impairment of renal function in CKD patients. It can provide a new quantitative evaluation index for the clinical staging of CKD.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the performance of virtual touch tissue quantification imaging (VTQ) for differential diagnosing in uterine hysteromyoma and adenomyoma. Methods Blood flow parameters and SWV (shear wave velocities) from 42 regular hysteromyomas,14 abnormal hysteromyomas and 25 uterine adenomyomas were compared and analyzed through color Doppler. Results The SWV of regular hysteromyomas was on average of (2.72 ± 0.31) m/s;that of abnormal hysteromyomas (1.88 ± 0.25) m/s;while the SWV of uterine adenomyomas was on average of 1.91 ± 0.27 m/s. The mean SWV in regular hysteromyomas group was significantly higher than that in abnormal hysteromyomas group and uterine adenomyomas group (P 0.05).The resistance index and SWV of uterine hysteromyomas and adenomyomas had positive correlation (r = 0.753,0.544,0.506,P < 0.05). Conclusion VTQ can quantify the stiffiness of uterine hysteromyoma and adenomyoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the application value of acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) imaging technology in the dif-ferential diagnosis of benign gallbladder wall thickening or gallbladder carcinoma. Methods:Siemens ultrasound ARFI, involving virtu-al touch tissue imaging (VTI) and virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ), was used to examine the gallbladder wall in 327 cases. To compare transverse shear wave velocity (VTQ) of gallbladder waland VTI image characteristics. Results:Significant differences exist-ed in the gallbladder wall elastic parameters of normal and benign gallbladder wall thickening, as well as thick-walled gallbladder carci-noma. The ROC curve displayed that a velocity of 2.65 m/s can be used to diagnose gallbladder carcinoma, with sensitivity and specific-ity of 94.0%and 93.7%, respectively. Conclusion:The VTQ parameters were significantly different in benign and malignant gallblad-der wall thickening, thereby exhibiting clinical application value.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ ) in the diagnosis of pancreas early damage of patients with hyperuricemia(HUA) .Methods Sixty‐five cases of patients with normal glucose tolerance and HUA (HUA group) and 42 cases of patients with HUA and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT group) were included in the study ,and other 150 health subjects were taken as control group .After routine ultrasound examination ,the pancreas shear wave velocity values (Vs) of different groups were measured by VTQ technology ,and the results were analyzed .Results Compared with the control group ,the rate of the abnormai ultrasonogram of pancreas in IGT group showed obvious increasing trend but there was no significantly difference between the other groups(both P >0 0.5) .The Vs of the normal control group ,HUA group ,and IGT group were (1 2.1 ± 0 1.5)m/s ,(1 4.1 ± 0 1.3)m/s and (1 5.9 ± 0 1.5)m/s ,respectively .The Vs of HUA group and IGT group were higher than that of the control group (both P <0 0.5) ,and the Vs of IGT group was significantly higher than that of HUA group ( P <0 0.5) .Conclusions Hyperuricemia may cause pancreas damage ,and with the disease progress ,the pancreas damage became more serious ,and VTQ technology may play an important role on the diagnosis of pancreas early damage in HUA patients .

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) in the diagnosis of renal allograft fibrosis.Methods The renal allografts of 82 patients with biopsies or nephrectomy were assessed by virtual touch quantification.The renal allograft fibrosis was categorized according to the 2005 updated Banff criteria for a G0~G3 grade.All the results were compared among four groups.Results The mean SWV values in G0~G3 were (2.39 ± 0.31)m/s,(2.45 ± 0.34)m/s,(2.58 ± 0.18) m/s,(3.11 ± 0.40)m/s,respectively.There were no significant differences in the mean SWV value between G0 and G1 group,or between G1 and G2 group(P >0.05).There were significant differences in the mean SWV value between G0~G2 and G3 group,or between G0 and G2 group(P <0.05).Stiffness of renal allograft was significantly correlated to the mean SWV value (Spearman r =0.671,P <0.001).According to the area under the ROC curve,the sensitivity and specificity of SWV (area under ROC curve =0.847,cut-off=2.64 m/s) for grade ≥G2 was 78.9% and 79.5% respectively.Conclusions Stiffness measured by VTQ reflects the interstitial fibrosis in renal allograft.VTQ technique might be a new tool to identify patients with chronic allograft injury.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the evaluation of virtual touch tissue quantification(VTQ)in differential diagnosis of thyroid benign and malignant nodules and its influence factors.Methods 127 patients with thyroid lesions and its adjacent normal thyroid tissue at the same depth were examined with VTQ.Test results were performed by shear wave velocity value (SWV) on the long axis dimension of the nodules.The maximum(Vmax),minimum(Vmin) value of SWV of thyroid lesions and the SWV(Vn) value of surrounding normal tissue were recorded.The mean value of SWV (Vm) and the ratio of Vm and Vn (Vm/n) were calculated.SWV value of benign and malignant nodules and different pathological types of nodules were analyzed.Receiver-operating characteristic curve(ROC) was drawn to assess the diagnostic efficiency.Results The Vmax,Vmin,Vm,Vm/n of malignant lesions [(4.61 ± 2.65) m/s,(2.74 ± 2.23) m/s,(2.99 ± 0.82)m/s,(1.69 ± 1.07)m/s,respectively] were obviously higher than that of benign nodules [(2.78 ± 0.96)m/s,(1.75 ± 0.60)m/s,(2.31 ± 0.38)m/s,(0.94 ± 0.23)m/s,respectively,P <0.01].The SWV value of thyroid papillary carcinoma was higher than that of nodular goiter,thyroid adenoma and Hashimoto's thyroiditis(P <0.05).The SWV value of Hashimoto's thyroiditis was higher than that of thyroid adenoma and nodular goiter (P < 0.05).No significant differences of SWV value were found between thyroid adenoma and nodular goiter (P > 0.05).Contrast the area under the receiver-operating curves above four groups of different SWV values,the results showed that Vm had the highest diagnostic value in diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.When the best cut-off point of Vm was 2.48 m/s,the diagnostic value was highest and the sensitivity and specificity were 97% and 81 %.Conclusions VTQ could be used to quantify and evaluate the hardness of thyroid nodules and provided important value for the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the value of virtual touch tissue quantification(VTQ) in diagnosis of mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MECa) of parotid gland.Methods The sonographic and VTQ findings of 36 patients with MECa of parotid gland proved by pathology were analyzed retrospectively.The patients were divided into 3 groups according to pathology.50 normal subjects were choesn as control group.Results There were significant differences of shear wave velocity (SWV) between MECa groups and control group as well as among MECa groups (all P <0.01).Conclusions VTQ provides quantitative information about tissue stiffness which is useful for the diagnosis of MECa of parotid gland.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) elastography and its influencing factors in identifying benign and malignant thyroid nodules.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted in 210 cases of 240 thyroid nodules.Their images,including 2D ultrasound,color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) and VTQ elastography,were reviewed,and the scanning view,the maximum diameter of the nodule,inside blood flow,calcifications and its depth beneath the skin were recorded.The value of shear wave velocity(SWV) in identifying benign and malignant thyroid nodules was calculated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.The influences of the maximum diameter of the nodules,calcifications,internal blood flow,the depth beneath skin and scanning views as well as type of pathology on the value of SWV were analyzed using multiple linear regressions (MLR).Results The sensitivity and specificity of VTQ in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules was 74.8% and 73.4%,respectively,and the area under ROC curve was 0.799.MLR indicated that the maximum diameter of the nodule,the type of pathology and internal blood flow were correlated with the SWV value (P <0.05),of which,the type of pathology was the important factor (standardized coefficient was-0.312).Microcalcifications,the depth of the nodules located and the scanning surface were not significantly related to SWV value (P >0.05).Conclusions VTQ can quantitatively provide the information on the hardness of thyroid tissue,which is of a definite value in the differential diagnosis of the nodules.The pathology of the nodule,its internal blood flow and maximum diameter are the factors that affect the value of SWV,and not its depth,scanning views and microcalcifications.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between shear wave velocity and tissue fibrosis score in thyroid space-occupying lesions.Methods The shear wave velocity of 55 thyroid space-occupying lesions was examined by virtual touch tissue quantification.The shear wave velocity of different solid parts of the lesions was detected for several times and 15 data were genarated.Then maximum and minimum value were removed.The maximum (Vmax),minimum (Vmin),mean (Vm) of shear wave velocity were calculated with the rest of 13 data.Meantime the fibrosis degree of these pathological lesions were scored by using optical micorscope.The maximum (Fmax),minimum (Fmin) and mean (Fm) fibrosis degree were calculated with these scores.Then the difference between Fmax,Fmin and Fm value of benign lesions and malignant lesions was analyzed.The linear correlation between Fmax and Vmax,Fmin and Vmin,Fm and Vm was also analysed.Results In the 55 lesions,30 lesions were benign and the rest was malignant.The Fmax,Fmin,Fm of benign lesions were 1.38 ± 1.44,0.68 ± 0.25,0.91 ± 0.73 respectively; the corresponding value of malignant lesions were 5.00 ± 1.91,3.52 ± 1.82,4.08 ± 1.75 respectively.There was significant difference between the benign group and malignant group (t test,P <0.01).There were linear correlation between Fmax and Vmax,Fmin and Vmin,Fm and Vm and the Pearson correlation coefficients were 0.504,0.284,0.453 respectively.Conclusions The shear wave velocity and fibrosis degree of thyroid lesions has linear relationship.The heavier the degree of fibrosis is,the faster the shear wave velocity would be.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the value of virtual touch tissue quantification(VTQ) on the early diagnosis of gouty nephropathy.Methods 180 healthy controls and 109 gout patients including 57 cases with normal renal function,and 52 cases with gouty nephropathy were measured by VTQ in this study.The shear wave velocity (SWV) of renal cortex,renal medulla and renal sinus were measured using virtual touch tissue quantification(VTQ).The recorded SWV value was compared.Results In all groups,the SWV of renal cortex was the highest with significant difference (P <0.01).The SWV of renal cortex in gouty nephropathy group was higher than those in control group (t =0.342,P =0.026).The SWV of renal medulla and sinus in gout with normal renal function group and gouty nephropathy group were higher than those in control group,respectively (gout with normal renal function group:t =-0.311,-0.628; P =0.012,0.000;gouty nephropathy group:t =-0.369,-0.701 ; P =0.000,0.000).The SWV of renal cortex,medulla and sinus had no significant difference between gout patients with normal renal function and gouty nephropathy patients(t =0.117,-0.059,-0.073; P =0.232,0.575,0.523).Conclusions The VTQ technology could quantitatively evaluate tissue elasticity of the gout patients and provide evidence for the early diagnosis of gouty nephropathy.

Objective To explore the feasibility of virtual touch tissue quantification(VTQ) technique in noninvasive assessment of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent shunt (TIPSS).Methods Twenty-four patients were enrolled in this study.Shear wave velocity(SWV) of the liver and spleen were obtained by VTQ technique on one day before TIPSS insertion and one week after TIPSS placement,and the portal vein pressure was measured while placing the TIPSS.The correlation between SWV of the liver and spleen and portal venous pressure were analysed.In addition,fourteen patients were followed up for one month after TIPSS placement.Results There was significant difference in portal vein pressure pre [(27.82 ± 4.07) mm Hg] and post [(16.26-± 3.10) mm Hg] TIPSS insertion.The SWV of the liver in patients pre and post TIPSS measured (2.43 ± 0.37)m/s and (2.40 ± 0.34)m/s,respectively.The SWV of the spleen in patients pre and post TIPSS were (3.49 ± 0.40)m/s and (3.08 ± 0.39)m/s,respectively,there was significant difference (P =0.000).However,SWV of the liver pre and post TIPSS placement was no significant difference(P =0.130).And as well as the patients which were followed up for one month after TIPSS placement.A significant,direct,linear correlation(r =0.602,P =0.000) was found between SWV of the spleen and portal vein pressure,but liver SWV was not correlated with the portal venous pressure.Conclusions SWV of the spleen measured by VTQ technique has a significant correlation with portal vein pressure.Hence,the spleen SWV based on VTQ technique can be used as a non-invasive method for quantitatively in monitoring the portal vein pressure as the function of the TIPSS.However,evidence to support a similar role for liver stiffness is lacking.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the application value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ)for evaluating small focal liver lesions.Methods Seventy-seven patients with 89 small focal liver lesions,whose largest diameter were less than or equal to 3 cm were evaluated with VTQ.The shcar wave velocity (SWV) of the tumor and background liver parenchyma were calculated,and their results were compared with those of 40 healthy subjects.Statistical analysis was performed on the SWV for the differentiation of normal liver,background liver parenchyma and lesions.The cut-off point for SWV was obtained by using ROC curve analysis which was used to predict malignancy lesions.Results The SWV of malignant lesions was significantly higher than that of benign ones [(2.56-± 0.67) m/s vs (1.70 ± 0.55) m/s,P =0.000].The SWV of metastatic liver carcinoma which came from lung cancer and breast cancer were higher than that of gastrointestinal tract cancer transfers (P =0.000).Based on 1.93 m/s as the cut-off point of SWV value,the sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,positive predictive value and negative predictive value for diagnosing malignancies were 82.0 %,84.6%,83.15 %,87.23 % and 78.57 % respectively.Conclusions VTQ technique can help the differential diagnosis of small focal liver lesions.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) for the assessment of renal allograft.Methods A total of 72 kidney recipients were examined with conventional ultrasound and VTQ after transpantation.Biopsies were performed in 34 patients,20 patients were with acute rejection (AR),14 with chronic allograft nephropathy (CAN),38 patients as control group.The peak systolic velocity (PSV) and resistance index(RI) were measured on main,infrarenal and arcuate arteries with conventional ultrasound and shear wave velocity (SWV) of the renal cortex was obtained by VTQ.All the data were compared among three groups.Results There were no significant differences of PSV between two groups.An increased RI was presented in the CAN group(P <0.05).The mean SWV was (2.67 ± 0.27) m/s,(2.90 ± 0.31)m/s and (2.28 ± 0.24)m/s for AR,CAN and normal group,respectively.There were significant differences of SWV among the three groups (P < 0.05).Conclusions VTQ technique could provide a new method for the assessment of transplanted kidney.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the value of virtual touch tissue quantification in the diagnosis of renal tumors.Methods A total of 120 kidney tumors in 120 consecutive patients were assessed in this study.All tumors were proved by operation and tpathologic findings.VTQ was employed for the measurement of tissue stiffness of kidney tumors.For each lesion,the size,echogenicity,location and margin at baseline grey-scale US were observed and a clear scanning plane including the tumor and surrounding kidney cortex was selected.The VTQ-region of interest were placed both in the tumors and their surrounding cortex.Shear wave velocity(SWV) of the tumors and renal cortex were measured and compared between benign and malignant tumors.Results There were 24 benign kidney tumors and 96 malignant ones.The benign diagnoses included 21 cases of angiomyolipoma,2 cases of mesoblastic nephroma and 1 case of oxyphilic adenoma.The malignant ones included 78 cases of clear renal cell carcinoma,5 cases of papillary renal cell carcinoma,7 cases of chromophobe cell renal cell carcinoma,4 cases of urothelial cancer,1 case of mesenchymal malignancy and 1 case of nephroblastoma.Differences of SWV values between benign tumors and their surrounding cortex were statistically significant (P =0.002).However,no significant difference was found for SWV values between malignant tumors and their surrounding cortex,or between malignant tumors and benign ones (P >0.05).For the ratio of SWV values between tumors and their surrounding cortex (tumor SWV/cortex SWV),significant difference was found between benign and malignant ones (P =0.(011) and between clear renal cell carcinoma and angiomyolipoma respectively(P =0.005).Conclusions VTQ can provide the elasticity information of renal lesions and be useful for the diagnosis of renal tumors.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation between virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) and the pathological grading of liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B.Methods 64 chronic hepatitis B patients (the chronic hepatitis group) and 40 healthy volunteers (the controlled group) were collected.The patients in the chronic hepatitis group were underwent liver biopsy.According to the hepatic fibrosis degree,the patients in the test group were classified into stage 0,1,2,3 and 4.The liver shear wave velocities (SWV) of all the participant were measured by VTQ.The cut-off values were determined by an analysis of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.Results The mean SWV was (1.04± 0.13)m/s in the controlled group.The SWV in stages 0,1,2,3,and 4 were (1.17 ± 0.08)m/s,(1.33 ± 0.32)m/s,(1.53 ±0.32) m/s,(2.09 ± 0.54) m/s,(2.18 ± 0.70) m/s,respectively.There was a significantly difference in SWV between the controlled group and the chronic hepatitis group (F =34.97,P =0.00).The SWV were significantly different not only between stages 0-2,and 3,but also between 0-2 and 4 (F =8.87,P =0.00).A positive correlation was observed between the liver fibrosis and the SWV in the chronic hepatitis group (r =0.67,P =0.00).When a cut off value was set at 1.43 m/s,area under ROC curve was 0.875.The sensitivity and specificity were 100 % and 62.5 %.Conclusions SWV has a better correlation with liver fibrosis.VTQ can make an accurate assessment for stage 3 and stage 4 of the chronic hepatitis B.Therefore,VTQ can be used as a noninvasive and reliable diagnostic indicator for chronic hepatitis B.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the application value of virtual touch tissue quantification(VTQ) in the differential diagnosis of small breast lesions.Methods Fifty-six patients with sixty-nine small breast lesions whose largest diameter were less than or equal to 1 cm were evaluated with VTQ.The shear wave velocity (SWV) of the lesions and normal breast tissue were measured to analyze the diversity of different pathological types lesions of SWV and to find the optimal cut-off points using ROC curve to predict small breast cancer.Resuits The mean SWV(Vm) and the ratio (mean of lesions and normal tissue) of SWV (Vm1/Vm2) in benign group was (2.93 ± 1.32)m/s,1.79 ± 0.63,respectively,and that in malignant group was (5.65 ± 2.63) m/s,3.61 ± 1.35,respectively,there were statistically significant differences between benign group and malignant group (t test,P <0.05).The cut-off point of Vm was determined as 4.43 m/ s,the sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of diagnosing breast cancer were 80.5%,89.3%,92.8%,respectively.The cut-off point of Vm1/Vm2 was determined as 2.37,the sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of diagnosing breast cancer were 76.9%,81.2%,89.9%,respectively.Conclusions VTQ technique can provide helpful information in the differential diagnosis of small breast lesions.
