ABSTRACT

Mycobacterium indicus pranii (MIP) earlier known as Mw is a soil-borne, non-pathogenic, saprophytic and rapidly growing strain of mycobacteria. MIP is approved as a vaccine/ immunomodulator for various indications including mycobacterium infections like leprosy in humans. Its administration has resulted in satisfactory clinical improvement, accelerated bacillary clearance, and increased immune responses to Mycobacterium leprae antigens, thereby shortening the full recovery time of the patients. It also shares its antigens with M.tuberculosis. In the last decade, RCTs have been done establishing immunotherapeutic properties of MIP in the treatment of leprosy, tuberculosis, warts and experimently in leishmaniasis. Through its immune inducing and cytotoxic property, it has also proved beneficial for human use especially in treating lung cancer. The beneficial role of it is also being explored in breast, cervical, oral, liver, and bladder cancers. Various studies on MIP have shown that it has immune-modulating properties in humans. The curiosity of the human mind has led to it being tried in Covid treatment trials. The results have shown that administering MIP has lowered inflammatory markers in Covid 19 patients, promising us for it to be a potential treatment option. More RCTs with a larger sample size should be done to establish this. Cytokine storm seen in bacterial sepsis is also decreased with MIP administration. Considering the encouraging results in hastening recovery in various diseases it appears that MIP is perhaps not being exploited to its fullest potential

ABSTRACT

AIM:To evaluate the agreement of corneal high-order aberrations from Topcon KR-1W, i.Profiler and OPD-Scan Ⅲ wavefront aberrometers in myopic adults.METHODS:A prospective clinical study. A total of 92 adult patients(92 eyes)with myopia in the department of optometry, the People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from June to August 2022 were enrolled. The third-order and fourth-order corneal aberrations at the pupil diameter of 4 and 6mm were measured by Topcon KR-1W, i.Profiler, and OPD-Scan Ⅲ, respectively. The difference and agreement of the three aberrometers were evaluated.RESULTS: The measurements at 6mm pupil diameter were all greater than those at 4mm pupil diameter. Although there were no statistical differences in the measurements of Z-44、Z-24 by the three aberrometers at 4 pupil diameter(P>0.05), there were statistical differences in other measurements(P<0.05). The aberration results measured by the three aberrometers were statistically different at the 6mm pupil diameter(P<0.05). The 95% limit of agreement(95%LoA)of the measurements of higher-order aberration, including the third-order aberrations at 4mm pupil diameter and the third-order and fourth-order aberrations at 6mm pupil diameter(except for the Z-24)were greater than 0.1μm. The concordance correlation coefficient(Pc)was lower than 0.90, indicating a poor consistency. The correlation coefficients of corneal higher-order aberrations were significantly different among the three aberrometers at 4 and 6mm pupil diameter(r4mm=0.215~0.805, P4mm<0.05; r6mm=0.561~0.916, P6mm<0.001).CONCLUSION:There were significant differences in the measurements of the third- and fourth-order corneal aberrations at 4 and 6mm pupil diameter among Topcon KR-1W, i.Profiler, and OPD-Scan Ⅲ, and the agreements were poor, so they are not interchangeably in clinical applications.

ABSTRACT

@#Abstract: Objective To prepare a microparticle delivery system that regulates the release rate of extracellular vesicles (EVs), and to exert long-term enhancement of liver cell proliferation after only one intervention. Methods EVs was extracted by differential centrifugation. The structure of the EVs was observed by transmission electron microscopy and the membrane marker protein of EVs was detected by Western blotting. EVs-PLA microspheres with "core-shell" structure were prepared by emulsion-solvent evaporation method. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy were used to detect the morphology of EVs-PLA microspheres and EVs. The release test detected the release behavior of EVs in EVs-PLA microspheres. Scanning electron microscopy was used to detect the morphological changes of EVs-PLA microspheres at 8 weeks of release. EVs-PLA microspheres were co-cultured with hepatocytes, and Phalloidin/DAPI staining was used to observe the cell morphology and evaluate the cytotoxicity of the microspheres. CCK8-test was used to evaluate the cell proliferation activity. Western blot analysis was used to detect extracellular vesicles membrane marker protein expression. Results Comparing the ability of hepatocyte proliferation in the group treated with EVs-PLA microspheres and the control group, it was found that EVs-PLA microspheres did not cause cell apoptosis and mutation in cell structure, had biocompatibility and no cytotoxicity. The EVs-PLA microspheres with "core-shell" structure regulated the release behavior of EVs, which can continuously release EVs, exerting a continuous biological role in promoting hepatocyte proliferation after a single intervention. Conclusions The EVs-PLA microspheres can control-release EVs and promote hepatocyte proliferation continuously after a single intervention, providing a reference for further exploration of EVs-loaded delivery systems in promoting liver regeneration.

ABSTRACT

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a treasure of ancient Chinese science and a key to unlocking the rich heritage of Chinese civilization. Report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the important speech by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the symposium on cultural inheritance and development provide scientific guidance for accelerating the dissemination of TCM culture in Shaanxi. Starting from the value implications of strengthening the dissemination of TCM in Shaanxi, Taking Harold Lasswell’s "5W" theory as the analytical framework and the problems of weak leadership of communication subjects, insufficient scientific content, low flexibility of communication channels, weak targeting of communication audiences, and insufficient integration of communication effects in the dissemination process of TCM culture in Shaanxi, this paper proposed strategies for the dissemination of Shaanxi TCM culture from five aspects, including strengthening dissemination subjects, optimizing communication content, diversifying communication channels, segmenting communication audiences, and enhancing communication effectiveness.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this article is to demonstrate and debate, in the light of concrete psychoanalytic psychology, a current contradiction in winnicottian thought expressed by the coexistence of two visions over infant care and motherhood. The reflections on the matter are shown in three sections. Firstly, concrete psychoanalytic psychology as a theoretical framework is set. Secondly, explanation and details on the contradiction of winnicottian thinking about infant care and motherhood are discussed. Thirdly, the articulation on a view of a winnicottian's text from the point of view of concrete psychoanalytic psychology placing it as convergent with Lukács's ontology of social being is presented. Finally, the possibility of psychoanalytic knowledge being put at the service of initiatives in favor of social transformations seeking to overcome essentialist views on motherhood is indicated.

ABSTRACT

Context: The diagnosis of giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is difficult in small biopsies with unusual age of presentation, location, and extensive secondary changes. Most of the GCTBs harbor H3F3A G34W mutations with a subset of cases showing alternate G34V, G34R, and G34L mutations. Objectives: To analyze the expression of anti-histone H3.3G34W antibody in different cellular components of GCTB across different locations and presentations (including the unusual ones) and validate the utility of this antibody in the diagnosis of GCTB and differentiate it from the other osteoclast-like giant-cell-rich lesions. Design: Immunohistochemistry was performed using anti-histone H3.3G34W antibody in the diagnosed cases of GCTB (136 cases of GCTB from 133 patients, including two malignant GCTBs) and other giant cell-containing lesions (62 cases). The presence of unequivocal crisp nuclear staining was considered positive. Results: Immunohistochemistry revealed unequivocal nuclear positivity in the mononuclear cells in 87.3% of the cases of GCTB. Of these, most showed diffuse expression with moderate to strong intensity staining. The positive staining was restricted to the nuclei of mononuclear cells with the nuclei of osteoclastic giant cells being distinctly negative. In addition to conventional GCTBs, two cases each of multicentric and malignant GCTB showed positive staining. The other giant-cell containing lesions were distinctly negative. The present study showed a sensitivity of 87.3% with specificity and positive predictive value of 100%. Conclusion: The anti-histone G34W antibody is a highly sensitive and specific marker for the diagnosis of GCTB and differentiating it from its mimics. The positive staining is restricted to the mononuclear cell component of GCTB with sparing the osteoclastic giant cells further reiterating the fact that the mononuclear stromal cells are the true neoplastic component of GCTB.

ABSTRACT

Background: Reaction time (RT) is the time interval between the application of a stimulus and voluntary motor response. Both visual and auditory RT reflect the cognitive function of an individual specially in spatial skills. Aims and Objective: This study aims to find the correlation between age, gender, and anthropometric measurements on simple visual and auditory RT. Material and Methods: One hundred healthy volunteers of both the genders (males 52 and females 48) aged between 18 and 50 years were recruited. RT is the elapsed time between the presentation of a stimulus and the subsequent behavioral response to occur. Subjects were presented with red light and 1000 Hz tone sound stimuli for both the genders. In RT there is coordination between the sensory and motor system occurs. The height, weight, waist circumference, and waist–hip ratio (WHR) were measured to observe the effects of these measurements on visual reaction time (VRT) and auditory reaction time (ART). Results: Statistical analysis of the data by one-way ANOVA with post hoc by Turkey HSD test was found significant with age, gender, and other anthropometric measurements WHR, BSA, and waist circumference) with P-value of 0.027, 0.067; 0.001, 0.125 and BMI 0.135 and 0.200; WHR 0.086 and 0.043; 0.050 and 0.064, respectively. Conclusion: As hypothesis suggests when BMI is increased, there is a significant increase in RT. The VRT and ART both are increased in female than male. RT increases as the age increases especially after 40 years. Objective: The objective of the study was to find the correlation between age, gender, and anthropometric measurements on simple visual and auditory RT.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this theoretical study is to reflect on the markers of psychic transmission in Clarice Lispector's short story "Os laços de família", originally published in 1960. The interpretation took place from Winnicottian psychoanalysis in dialogue with the psychoanalysis of social bonds. Psychic transmission emerges as a possibility to understand the relationship between the protagonist, her mother and her child, highlighting aspects not only of what is unconsciously transmitted, but of the transmission of psychic illness and the difficulty in establishing bonds. Transmission is a path that cannot be refused. Catarina's character's power resides in the attempt to share, with her son, what had been compromised in her history since her first relationships, recapturing important environmental failures and towards family resilience

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the expression levels of basic leucine zipper and W2 domain 2 (BZW2) and isovaleryl-CoA dehydrogenase (IVD) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and evaluate their effect on clinical prognosis of liver transplant recipients with HCC. Methods Pathological specimens and clinical data of 87 liver transplant recipients with HCC were collected and retrospectively analyzed. The recurrence and metastasis of HCC after liver transplantation were assessed. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression levels of BZW2 and IVD. The relationship between BZW2, IVD and clinicopathological parameters of HCC and their effect on postoperative recurrence and clinical prognosis of the recipients was analyzed. Results Among 87 recipients, 31 cases recurred with a recurrence rate of 36%. HCC recurred at postoperative 2-49 months and the median recurrence time was postoperative 7 months. Immunohistochemical staining demonstrated that the positive expression rate of BZW2 in the HCC tissues was significantly higher than that in normal liver tissues (76% vs. 30%), and the positive expression rate of IVD was significantly lower compared with that in normal liver tissues (51% vs. 69%) (both P < 0.01). BZW2 expression was significantly correlated with tumor diameter and tumor capsule (both P < 0.05), whereas IVD expression was significantly associated with tumor diameter, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level, tumor, node and metastasis (TNM) staging and whether vascular invasion was found or not (all P < 0.05). In the high BZW2 expression group, the cumulative recurrence rate of HCC was significantly higher and the cumulative survival rate was significantly lower than those in the low BZW2 expression group. In the low IVD expression group, the cumulative recurrence rate of HCC was significantly higher and the cumulative survival rate was significantly lower compared with those in the high IVD expression group (all P < 0.05). Conclusions The expression level of BZW2 protein is up-regulated, whereas that of IVD protein is down-regulated in the HCC tissues. Moreover, the cumulative recurrence rate of HCC is relatively high and the cumulative survival rate is relatively low in liver transplant recipients with high BZW2 expression and low IVD expression.

Abstract The aim of this research was to adapt and validate the Spouse Specific Dependency Scale for Women (SSDS-W) for use in the Brazilian context, which consists of 30 items. In study 1, 347 women participated. It was obtained a three- dimensional structure: anxiety attachment (α = .88), emotional dependence (α = .80) and exclusive dependence (α = .72), with satisfactory internal consistencies. In the second study, 325 women participated, and three structural equation models were tested. The results indicated that the EDEC-M presented better index adjustment in the second-order hierarchical model: χ2 /df = 1.89; CFI = .95; TLI = .95; GFI = .95; RMSEA .05 and SRMR = .07. This model was supported by Item Response Theory (IRT), which analyzed a satisfactory variation of the item difficulty and allowed the construction of an Item Map for the measure. Therefore, the EDEC-M presented satisfactory psychometric properties evidence of construct validity for the Brazilian context in women.

ABSTRACT

This work aims to verify and analyze the association between traumatic events in childhood - especially sexual abuse - and depressive disorder. It is based mainly on the psychoanalytic assumptions of Winnicott, Ferenczi and Masud Khan. This is a case study of a sixty-two-year-old woman who presented, in the psychotherapeutic process, a marked depression and severe unconscious feelings of guilt. The clinical reflections derived from the theoretical and practical questions brought by the patient's care and the improvement of her symptoms with psychotherapy motivated the elaboration of this article. The results indicate that the multiple and chronic intra-family traumas that occurred in childhood were important factors for the patient's depression, leading to believe that the trauma resulting from sexual abuse may be decisive for the future outbreak of this pathology.

ABSTRACT

From the experience with telephone assistance, the author approaches others, literary and psychoanalytically, through telephone and radio, here understood as phone calls to a large number of people. After alluding to the inaugural ways of considering the telephone especially by Roland Barthes and Marcel Proust, he studies the experiences of Winnicott and Benjamin at length.
