ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut-embedding therapy plus fundamental treatment versus fundamental treatment alone for the prevention and treatment of bone marrow depression in breast cancer patients induced by FEC(fluorouracil, epirubicin and cyclophosphamide) chemotherapy. Methods A total of 46 post-operation breast cancer patients accepting the first cycle of FEC chemotherapy were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 23 cases in each group. The control group was given fundamental treatment including oral use of Chinese medicine of modified Xiangsha Liujunzi Decoction for regulating stomach and arresting vomiting, modified Guipi Decoction and Gui Lu Erxian Decoction for nourishing blood and generating blood, and western medicine of Batilol Tablets and Vitamin B4 Tablets. The treatment group was given acupoint catgut-embedding therapy on bilateral Zusanli(ST36) and Shenshu(BL23) plus fundamental treatment. The effect on bone marrow depression in the two groups was observed after treatment. Results(1) On post-chemotherapy day 7 and 8, the count of white blood cells (WBC) and neutrophils (NE) in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group, the difference being significant(P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).(2) The utilization of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF) in the treatment group was less than that in the control group, the difference being significant (P < 0.05). (3) On post-chemotherapy day 10, the effect on improving bone marrow depression in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.01) . Conclusion The acupoint catgut-embedding therapy plus fundamental treatment is more effective and safe for the prevention and treatment of bone marrow depression in breast cancer patients induced by FEC chemotherapy than fundamental treatment alone.

ABSTRACT

To observe the progess of pharmacological and clinical researches on Xiangsha-Liujunzi decoction by literature reviews recently. Pharmacological study found that the Xiangsha-Liujunzi decoction can protect the gastric mucosa, regulate gastrointestinal endocrine function, promote apoptosis of hyperplasia epithelial cell lying the gastric mucosa, and promote antidepressant effect. Thus, Xiangsha-Liujunzi decoction could be used for gastrointestinal diseases and tumor postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction caused by radiation and chemotherapy.

ABSTRACT

To explore the effects and mechanism of Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction on TLR signal pathway in gastric mucosa tissues of rats with Helicobacter pylori-related gastritis, sixty SD rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, high concentration of Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction group, moderate concentration of Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction group, low concentrations of Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction group and SB203580-treated group, with 10 rats in each group. SD rats of Hp-associated chronic atrophic gastritis models were established by intragastric gavage of Helicobacter pylori (HP) suspension. Changes in the gastric mucosa of rats were assessed by histopathology. ELISA was applied to detect the expressions of TNF-α and IL-6 in the serum, and the activity of iNOS in gastric mucosa. The content of NO in the gastric mucosa was tested by nitrate reductive enzymatic. The expressions of TLR2, TLR4, P38MAPK, NF-κB were detected by QPCR and Western-blot. The results indicated that the clinical symptoms of rats and pathological changes of gastric mucosa were improved in Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction group. Compared with normal control group, the protein expressions of TLR2, TLR4, p-P38MAPK and NF-κB in gastric mucosa of model group rats increased (P<0.01) with the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in the serum, and the activity of iNOS and the content of NO in gastric mucosa increased. Compared with model group, the expressions decreased in Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction group, especially in the high concentration of Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction group(P<0.01), with gradually increased rate of HP eradication and decreased pathological grades of chronic atrophic gastritis. The serum level of TNF-α and IL-6 decreased from (24.313±2.261) μg•L ⁻¹ to (15.195±1.235) μg•L-1(P<0.01) and from (77.416±8.095) μg•L ⁻¹ to (33.150±2.532) μg•L ⁻¹ (P<0.01), and the activity of iNOS and the content of NO in gastric mucosa decreased from (1.530±0.206) U•mg ⁻¹ to (0.802±0.091) U•mg ⁻¹ (P<0.01) and from (0.907±0.032) mmol•g ⁻¹ to (0.335±0.026) mmol•g ⁻¹ (P<0.01) after the treatment of high concentration of Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction. All the effects increased with the increasing dosage of Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction from 0.324 g•mg ⁻¹ to 1.296 g•mg ⁻¹. The protein expressions of NF-κB decreased in the gastric mucosa after treated with P38MAPK specific inhibitor-SB203580. In the rats model, HP infection results in chronic atrophic gastritis through the activation of TLR2, TLR4/MAPK/NF-κB/iNOS/NO signal pathway. Xiangsha Liujunzi decoction can eradicate H. pylori and alleviate chronic atrophic gastric mucosal inflammation. The treatment is effective and safe to cure HP-induced chronic atrophic gastritis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effects ofXiangsha Liujunzi Decoction (XSLJZ) on levels and mRNA of IL-6, IL-10 and protein expression of HSP70 of gastric mucosa in chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) rats with spleen-stomach deficiency; To discuss its mechanism. Methods Rats were divided into 2 groups through random number table: normal group and model group. The model of CAG rat with spleen-stomach deficiency type was induced by synthetic methods. After successful modeling, rats were divided into model group, positive control group, XSLJZ high-, medium-, low-dose group. Rats in normal and model group received distilled water 10 mL/(kg?d) for gavage; XSLJZ high-, medium-, low-dose group received XSLJZ 24, 12, 6 g/(kg?d), respectively; positive control group received mycin 0.30 g/(kg?d) for gavage for 120 consecutive days. Generally living conditions, levels and mRNA of IL-6, IL-10 and protein expression of HSP70 in gastric mucosa tissue were detected by protein immunoblotting. Results Compared with the normal group, generally living conditions of rats in the model group were poor; mRNA and the content of IL-6 increased significantly, and mRNA and the content of IL-10 decreased significantly (P<0.05,P<0.01); mRNA and protein expression of HSP70 in gastric tissues was much lower than that of normal group (P<0.05,P<0.01). Compared with model group, generally living conditions of rats in the XSLJZ high-dose groups were improved significantly; mRNA and the content of IL-6 decreased significantly, and mRNA and the content of IL-10 increased significantly (P<0.05); XSLJZ high-, medium-dose groups mRNA and protein expression of HSP70 in gastric tissues increased significantly(P<0.05).Conclusion XSLJZ has protective effects on gastric mucosa of CAG rats with spleen-stomach deficiency.

ABSTRACT

The effects of Xiangsha Liujunzi Decoction (XLD) on expermental bile-regurgitational gastritis and gastric evacuation in rats were observed. XLD in dose of 30g/kg (p.o.) markedly pre- vented the acute gastric ucosa damate induced by gastric feeding of alkaline intestinal contents. For chronic regurgitational gastritis rat model induced by pyloric dilation with regurgitation of duodenal juice after 2 and 4 weeks , XLD in dose of 30g/kg (p. o.) lowered the incidence of gastritis, and reduce intragastric pH and bile acid. XLD in dose of 15g/kg and 30g/kg (p.o.) markedly inhibited the gastric evacuation. The results suggested that XLD is available for the treament of bile-regurgi- tational gastritis.
