ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo observe the lung injury of rats caused by PM2.5 induced imbalance of TH17/Treg immune system and the intervention effect of two different TCM treatments. Methods Wistar male rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, TCM-treated group1 and TCM-treated group 2. PM2.5-induced lung injury model was established by airway instillation. Model group was given normal saline for gavage. TCM- treated group 1 and 2 were given Yupingfeng Powder and Guomin Decoction combined with Zhisou Powder for gavage. The pathological changes of bronchial and lung tissues, the contents of IL-8, IL-10, IL-17, NE, and MUC5AC in serum and BALF were compared, and the expressions of Foxp3 and IL-17 in lung tissue of each group were analyzed. Results Compared with normal group, the contents of IL-8, IL-17, NE and MUC5AC in serum and BALF of model group increased significantly, while IL-10 decreased significantly (P<0.05,P<0.01); the expression of IL-17 increased significantly and the expression of Foxp3 decreased significantly in lung tissue (P<0.01). Compared with model group, the contents of IL-8, IL-17, and NE decreased in TCM-treated group 1 and 2, while the content of BALF IL-10 increased significantly (P<0.05). The content of IL-10 in serum increased significantly in TCM-treated group 2 (P<0.05); the protein expression of IL-17 of lung issue decreased significantly, and the protein expression of Foxp3 increased significantly (P<0.01). The pathological changes were improved significantly. Conclusion PM2.5 can induce lung injury caused by the imbalance of TH17/Treg. Both two treatments can significantly improve the lung injury induced by PM2.5 and the imbalance of TH17/Tregs immune system.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical effect of modified Zhisou powder and Symbicort Turbuhaler simultaneously on patients with Cough Variant Asthma. Methods 120 patients with Cough Variant Asthma were randomly recurited into two groups. 60 patients in the treatment group were treated with modified Zhisou powder and Symbicort Turbuhaler; 60 patients in the control group were treated with Symbicort Turbuhaler. 4 weeks was a therapeutic course in both group. Results The markedly controlled rate (MCR) (clinical control+excenence)of the treatment group was 83.3%, obviously surpassed the control group (70.0%) (P<0.05); There was obvious improvement of cough, expectoration, breath lessness and throaty pruritus after the therapy in both groups, but it was much better in the treatment group than the control group(P<0.05). The pulmonary function was significantly improved after treatment in both groups(FEV1, FEV1% and PEF, P<0.05). The improvement showed significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05). There was obvious decrease of EOS, IL-5 and ECP in both groups. The decrease of ECP and IL-5 in the treatment group was greater than the control group(P<0.01). Conclusion The therapy of modified Zhisou powder and Symbicort Turbuhaler has advantage over pure western therapy.

ABSTRACT

Zhisou powder is a famous TCM prescription of Qing dynasty great physician Cheng Zhongling in treating cough caused by exogenous pathogenic factor.Author respects ancient TCM prescriptions, but don't adhere to it.Author believes that with proper modification of the prescription based on correct syndrome differentiation,Zhisou powder is effective for various kinds of cough including acute and chronic cases, and is satisfactory for good clinical result. This article mainly introduces author's experience in treating various kinds of cough which embodies the holism concept and thought of treatment based on syndrome differentiation in TCM.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the antioxidation and immuno-regulation effects of the active fraction in Jiawei Zhisou Powder. Methods Hypersensitive asthma mice were established by the miscible liquids of ovalbumin(OA)and Al(OH)3.The influences of the powder on the contents of SOD and MDA in the serum and lung tissue of mice were observed and the contents of IL-4 and IFN-?in supernatant of mouse spleen cells cultured in vitro were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. And Jiawei Zhisou Powder and dexamethasone were administered to normal mice respectively, then the immune organs weight were measured and the spleen and thymus indexes of mice were calculated. Results Compared with the normal group, the contents of SOD and IFN-?were significantly decreased, while MDA and IL-4 contents were obviously enhanced in asthma group(P
