ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyse the clinical significance of a-L-Fucosidase(AFU) in the diagnosis of primary hepatic carcinoma(PHC).Methods: The activity of serum AFU was measured in 33 patients with PHC,42 patients with cirrhosis,37 patients whit hepatitis,10 patients with secondary liver cancer,37 patients with other malignant tumors and 80 normal persons. The differences of the level of AFU between the groups were compared. Results: The mean serum AFU activity was significantly higher in patients with PHC(41.2?14.1 U/L) than that in normal persons(20.5?7.2U/L),secondary liver cancer(22.2?13.6 U/L),other kinds of malignant tumors(22.0?7.1 U/L),P

ABSTRACT

FDP/FIP (88.8%), respectively; (3) The diagnostic positivity of combination assay was 80.0% in low or negative AFP producing HCC, while 95.7% in those with elevated AFP. Our data suggested that the combination assay of serum tumor enzyme markers was valuable in the diagnosis of HCC, especially in low or negative AFP HCC patients

ABSTRACT

?-L-fucosidas:-(AFU)activity was determined by referring to Troost's method in sera, liver tissues and lesions from patients with htpatocellular carcinoma (HCC), other liver space-occupying lesions (SOL)and diseases. The results showed that the sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of HCC were 81.2% and 83.3% respectively with the assay of serum AFU activity, and the sensitivities in the diagnosis of AFP-negative and early HCC were 76.1% and 70.8%, respectively. The AFU activity in the HCC tissues and their peri cancerous liver tissues was twice as much as controls, and consisted with their serum AFU activity (r= 0.742, P
