ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the clinical effect of rapid massage at Shuidao (ST 28) to prevent puerpera from postpartum urinary retention.@*METHODS@#A total of 200 puerpera giving birth through vagina were enrolled and divided into an observation group and a control group according to the random number table method, 100 cases in each group. In the observation group, rapid massage at Shuidao (ST 28) was applied. In the control group,there was no intervention and urinated naturally. The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scale was used to evaluate poor sense of urination, and record puerpera with or without postpartum urinary retention, the poor sense of first urination, the first time of urination, the amount of first urination and postpartum hemorrhage.@*RESULTS@#The poor sense of first urination in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control (<0.001), the first time of urination in the observation group was significantly earlier than that in the control group (<0.001), the amount of first urination in the observation group was significantly more than that in the control group (<0.001), the observation group was superior to the control group to prevent postpartum urinary retention (<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Rapid massage at Shuidao (ST 28) can reduce the poor sense of first urination, significantly advance the time of spontaneous urination, significantly increase the amount of first urination and effectively prevent postpartum urinary retention.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the effect of touch combined with acupoint massage on relieving anxiety and pain in patients undergoing oral implant surgery.@*Methods@#Seventy-two patients undergoing implant surgery who were eligible for inclusion were randomized into a treatment group and a control group using the envelope method, 36 in each one. The control group was given routine care, and the treatment group was treated with touch combined with acupoint massage on the basis of routine care for 20 minutes. State Anxiety Inventory (SAI) in the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was used to measure the intraoperative anxiety status of patients in the two groups. The degree of intraoperative pain was measured by verbal rating scales in both groups.@*Results@#The mean SAI score of the patients in the treatment group and the control group was 36.5±7.6 and 46.6±12.1, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (t=4.219, P<0.05). In addition, the pain levels in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in control group (Z=-2.009, P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#The combination of touch and acupoint massage can effectively alleviate the anxiety and pain of patients and enhance the comfort of patients during oral implant surgery, which further ensure the safe and smooth operation.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the effects of acupoint massage for postpartum hypogalactia in puerpera.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 60 puerpera of cesarean section were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases in each one. In the observation group, 2 cases were dropped out. Finally, there were 28 cases in the observation group and 30 cases in the control group. In the control group, the routine nursing after operation in obstetrics department was given, guiding maternal breastfeeding and postpartum health education. In the observation group, on the basis of the treatment as the control group, the corresponding acupoints were selected from the breast related meridians for massage. Acupoint massage was given since the 3rd day after operation, 8:00 am to 9:00 am, once a day, 1 min at one acupoint, continuously for 5 days. The lactation volume, breast filling, galactostasis and milk viscosity were compared in the parturient of the two groups. The clinical therapeutic effects were compared between the two groups.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>From the 1st to the 2nd days, the differences were not significant in lactation volume, breast filling and galactostasis score between the two groups (all>0.05). From the 3rd to 5th days, the lactation volume, breast filling and galactostasis score in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group (all<0.01). The difference in milk viscosity was not significant in the first 4 days between the two groups (all>0.05). On the 5th day, the score of milk viscosity in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (<0.01). The cured rate was 64.3% (18/28) in the observation group, which was better than 13.3% (4/30) in the control group (<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Massage at the acupoints from the breast related meridians effectively promotes the lactation secretion in puerpera of postpartum hypogalactia and alleviates breast distention.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of OB built-in tampon indwelled in anus combined with acupoint massage in ICU patients with incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD). Methods 100 patients with incontinence hospitalized in ICU were randomly assigned to control group (n=50) versus combined therapy group (n=50). The patients in the control group accepted routine nursing while the patients in the combined therapy group were treated with OB built-in tampon indwelled in anus combined with acupoint massage besides the routine nursing care. The two groups were compared in terms of incidence rate of IAD, IAD occurrence time, severity of IAD and incontinence-related nursing workload. Results The incidence rate of IAD and the severity of IAD in the combined therapy group were lower than those of the control group.The IAD in the combined therapy group occurred later than in the control group. Thetime for incontinence-related nursing and the frequency of perineum washing in the combined therapy group were shorter and lower than in the control group. Conclusions The application of OB built-in tampon indwelled in anus combined with acupoint massage in ICU patients with incontinence can not only reduce the incidence rate and severity of IAD but also lower the workload of nursing.The therapy is worthy of clinical application.

ABSTRACT

Objective Based on the theory of "lung and large intestine form", to observe the improvement of gastrointestinal function and pulmonary symptoms in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with phlegm heat accumulation and find the best meridians and acupoints. Methods A total of 120 patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with phlegm heat accumulation and gastrointestinal dysfunction were randomly divided into intervention 1 group (lung meridian group), intervention 2 group (large intestine meridian group) and intervention 3 group (lung meridian and large intestine meridian group) and control group. There were 30 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional treatment and nursing. The intervention group was treated with acupoint massage along meridians, 1 times a day for 20 minutes, and the intervention lasted for 10 days. The scores of gastrointestinal symptoms, clinical symptom scores and C reactive protein among 4 groups were compared. Results The scores of gastrointestinal symptoms, clinical symptom scores and C reactive protein were decreased in all groups after intervention compared with those before intervention, and the difference was statistically significant (F=9.736, 2.980, 0.894, P<0.01 or 0.05). After intervention, the difference of the scores of gastrointestinal symptoms among four groups were statistically significant (Ftime=213.423, F interaction =2.540, Fgroup =3.184, P<0.01 or 0.05). The difference of the scores of clinical symptoms among four groups were statistically significant( Ftime =337.859, P<0.01). The difference of C reactive protein among four groups was statistically significant (F=0.894, P<0.05). Conclusions Acupoint massage can effectively reduce the score of the symptoms of the gastrointestinal tract, the integral of clinical symptoms and the C reaction protein, and the effect of the massage of the meridians and collaterals. The effect of massage in the lung and the coliform meridian acupoint group is the best.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of acupoint massage on blood glucose in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods A total of 67 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, using the random number table method were divided into experimental group of 34 cases and 33 cases in the control group by random number table method. The experimental group was given five groups of acupoint massage and "five carriages" management to diabetes patients (control diet, exercise, blood sugar and lipid lowering drugs, diabetes knowledge propaganda and education, blood glucose monitoring). The control group was administered only the "five carriages" of diabetes. The two groups were observed for 2 months, and were compared the changes of biochemical indexes of glucose metabolism. Results After 2 months, the experimental group's fasting plasma glucose (FBG), 2 hours postprandial blood glucose (2 hBG), and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) decreased from the original (10.12±4.15) mmol/L, (15.32±5.65) mmol/L, and (9.36 ± 2.78)% to (6.04 ± 1.75) mmol/L, (8.42 ± 3.01) mmol/L, (6.35 ± 0.78) % , respectively, there were statistically significant differences within the group (t=5.28, 6.28, 6.08 respectively, all P<0.01). After 2 months, the FBG, 2 hBG, and HbA1c in the control group decreased from (11.23±6.02) mmol/L, (16.31± 6.23) mmol/L, and (9.67 ± 2.59) % to (7.12 ± 1.21) mmol/L, (9.58 ± 2.68) mmol/L, and (7.47 ± 1.96) % , respectively, and the differences within the group were statistically significant (t = 3.90, 5.79, and 3.95, respectively, all P<0.01). After 2 months, there was a significant difference between the FBG, 2 hBG, and HbA1c groups in the experimental group and the control group (t=2.96, 1.69, 3.09, P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the FBG and 2 hBG groups after 1 week of intervention in the experimental group (P>0.05). Conclusions To acupoint massage with basic intervention for type 2 diabetes patients can effectively consolidate the hypoglycemic effect, which is worthy of clinical reference and promotion.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the effect of applying midnight-midday ebb-flow acupoint massage to patients of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Methods Selected 60 patients of AECOPD in the respiratory department. They were divided into two groups randomly, the observed group and the compared group, with 30 patients in each group. The compared group applied regular treatment and care, while the observed group combined midnight-midday ebb-flow acupoint and bladder meridian between 3 pm. to 5 pm. The treatment lasted seven days. Compared the evaluation of the patients′main symptoms such as coughs,expectoration,gasp, panting and the changes of PaO2, PaCO2, and SaO2 before and after treatment, and compared the overall efficiency of treatment and average length of stay in hospital. Results After treatment, the ratings of symptoms of the observed group in coughs, expectoration, gasp, panting were (1.51 ± 0.23), (1.12 ± 0.74), (2.05 ± 0.29), (0.25 ± 0.18) points, while the compared group were (2.41 ± 0.25), (2.62 ± 0.64), (3.66 ± 0.24), (2.24 ± 0.32) points. The difference in two groups was valid in terms of statistics (t=2.884-4.147, P<0.05). After treatment, the index of PaO2,PaCO2,and SaO2 in the observed group were (80.80 ± 2.16) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), (50.38 ± 6.67) mmHg,0.982 ± 0.014. The compared group was (71.38 ± 1.24) mmHg, (58.42 ± 4.89) mmHg, 0.873±0.027.The difference was valid in terms of statistics (t=2.358, 3.543, 4.152, P<0.05);the overall efficiency of the the observed group was 93.3%, and the compared group was 83.3%. The difference was valid in terms of statistics (χ2=2.466, P<0.05);in terms of average length of stay in hospital, the observed group was (11.4 ± 1.8)days, and the compared group was (15.6 ± 2.0) days, and the observed group was apparently lower than the compared group (t=2.694, P<0.05). Conclusions The massage of midnight-midday ebb-flow acupoint massage can relieve the symptoms of patients of AECOPD, improve patients' index in arterial blood gas analysis and care effect, shorten the stay in hospital and better the life quality.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the intervention effect of premature pathological jaundice treated with conventional blue light phototherapy combined with acupoint massage plus body massage. Methods Ninety premature infants with pathological jaundice were randomized into control group 1, control group 2 and observation group, 30 cases in each group. The control group 1 was given blue light phototherapy plus oral use of vitamin B2, the control group 2 was given body massage based on the treatment for the control group 1, and observation group was given acupoint massage based on the treatment for the control group 2, the treatment for the three groups lasting for 7 continuous days. Before and after treatment, the levels of transcutaneous bilirubin (TCB), serum total bilirubin (TB), and serum direct bilirubin (DB) were observed, and then the therapeutic effects on jaundice in the three groups were compared. Results After treatment, the overall therapeutic effect and the daily decline of TCB, TB and DB in the observation group were superior to those in the two control groups, the difference being significant (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). In the control group 2, the post-treatment average decline of TB and the decline of TCB on treatment day 4-7 were superior to those in the control group 1, the difference being significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Acupoint massage plus body massage is effective and safe for the treatment of pathological jaundice in premature infants, and the therapy being simple and practical.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the influence of acupuncture point massage combined with limb function exercise on ankle brachial index (ABI) and pulse wave velocity (PWV) in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods According to scores by grace score scale, 180 CHD patients were divided into three groups: low risk group (n=58), moderate risk group (n=68) and high risk group (n=54). Within the three groups, the patients were divided into the experiment group and the control group by using the random digital table. The control group was treated with routine nursing intervention , while the experiment groups accepted acupuncture point massage and limb function exercise training on the basis of control groups. We collected the values of ABI and PWV at four points-in-time: before intervention, 7 days after intervention, 30 days after intervention and 90 days after intervention. Results Repeated measurement data analysis of the experiment group and control group suggested that:in the moderate and high risk groups, there was statistically significant difference (P 0.05) in time and group interaction effect. The difference between the experiment group and control group was statistically significant (P0.05) in ABI&PWV interaction effect at the four time points between the experiment group and control group. In the low-risk group,the differences in time points compared with the main effect were insignificant (all P>0.05). In comparison of main effect at all the four time points, there was significant different in the moderate and high risk group (P0.05) of ABI&PWV before and 90-days after intervention. Conclusion Acupuncture point massage combined with limb function exercise can effectively improve the peripheral artery blood supply in CHD patients, lower ABI and promote PWV.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of acupuncture decompression operation on the quality of life of patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension. Methods 74 cases of mild to moderate essential hypertension were divided into experimental group and control group by random number table, 4 cases were lost. Finally, a total of 70 patients were included in the data analysis. In the control group, 35 cases were given routine drug taking and health guidance, the experimental group of 35 patients increase the treatment of acupuncture decompression operation points on this basis. The two groups of patients were measured with blood pressure before and after intervention, and World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-BREF) was used to evaluate the quality of life, and the data were analyzed. Results The scores of physiological and psychological fields in the experimental group were (15.23 ± 2.66) points and (16.68 ± 2.23) points while the control group were (13.98 ± 2.18) points, (15.25 ± 2.52) points, the difference was statistically significant (t=2.305, 2.522, P 0.05). The experimental group systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure were (121.43 ± 6.43) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), (71.74 ± 3.88) mmHg, compared with the control group were (128.34±5.72) mmHg, (76.06±4.43) mmHg. The difference was statistically significant (t=-4.753,-4.210, P<0.05). Conclusions acupuncture decompression operation can improve blood pressure in young and middle-aged patients with hypertension, improve the quality of life.

AlM: To evaluate the efficacy of Esculin and Digitalisglycosides eye drops and acupoint massage alone or combination of both on video display terminal ( VDT ) asthenopia. ?METHODS: Totally, 224 patients with VDT asthenopia were randomly divided into eye drops group ( n = 56 ) received the intervention by Esculin and Digitalisglycosides eye drops, acupoint massage group (n=56) received the intervention by acupoint massage around the eyes, and combination group ( n=56 ) received the intervention by combination of both and control group received the intervention by ocular hygiene instruction. The effect was evaluated after 4wk. The symptoms curative effect index, tear film break-up time ( BUT) , Schirmer l test ( Slt) and corneal fluorescein staining score were as the indexes of evaluation. ? RESULTS: The symptoms curative effect index of combination group (78. 96±5. 29)% was higher than that of eye drops group (69. 55±6. 23)% and acupoint massage group (71. 15±6. 41)%, which of after both groups was higher than that of control group ( 33. 01±4. 26 )% ( P ? CONCLUSlON: Esculin and Digitalisglycosides eye drops and acupoint massage could improve symptoms and ocular physiology in patient with VDT asthenopia, and the effects of the combinative use of both are synergistic.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To discuss the effect of point application therapy and massage combined with little dosage of midazolam in the sedation for polydactylism replantation. [Method] Select 82 patients, randomly divide them into control and observation groups, n=41 for each. The control group only took midazolam for sedation;the other one, point application therapy and massage combined with little dosage of midazolam; observe both sedation effect, side effects and comfort degree. [Result] By comparing both groups, the observation group was better than control one on sedation effect, side effect rate and comfort degree. [Conclusion] Taking point application therapy and massage combined with little dosage of midazolam had good sedation and high comfort degree, with little side effects, fit for sedation in polydactylism replantation under continual brachial plexus anesthesia.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of application with raw Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) to umbilicus plus acupoint massage in treating functional constipation in patients who were receiving hemodialysis. Method Forty patients were recruited and randomized into an observation group and a control group, 20 in each group. The observation group was intervened by application to umbilicus with Chinese medication, while the control group was by oral administration of Rhubarb and Sodium Bicarbonate tablets. Result In the observation group, 16 were cured and the recovery rate was 80.0%;in the control group, 15 were cured and the recovery rate was 75.0%. There was no significant difference in comparing the recovery rate between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Application with raw Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) plus acupoint massage can produce equal effect in treating constipation compared with laxatives, while application plus acupoint massage avoids the intake of too much water and the bitter taste brought by oral administration of drugs, and also avoids the risk of hyperkalemia induced by intake of Chinese medication.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of abdominal breathing combined with acupoint massage to relieve abdominal distention after laparoscopic surgery.Methods One hundred and eighty patients with abdominal distention after laparoscopic surgery were randomly divided into control group and observation group with 90 patients in each group. The control group was given conventional perioperative nursing and the observation group combined with acupoint massage including Zusanli, Shangjuxu,Xiajuxu,and Neiguanxue based on the use of abdominal breathing to relieve postoperative abdominal distension. Result The abdominal distension of the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group,the recovery time of intestinal peristalsis and anus exhaust time were significantly shorter than those of the control group after 3 d(all P<0.01).Conclusion Abdominal breathing combined with acupoint massage can relieve abdominal distension of patients after laparoscopic surgery and promote intestinal function recovery.

Objective To evaluate the recovery effect of postural control by electrical stimulation acupoint massage after local muscle fatigue by investigating joint torque, surface electromyography (EMG) signal, balance ability and foot pressure distributions. Methods Six subjects (12 person-times) accepted isokinetic, SEMG and foot pressure test under the condition of normal rest or electrical stimulation acupoint massage after ankle fatigue. Results After electrical stimulation acupoint massage, ①the forward and backward displacement of COF (center of force) was significantly reduced and the contact area of T1, T2 and T4,5 was increased to (11.64±2.12), (6.57±0.97), (3.72±1.33) cm2, respectively. ② In ankle isokinetic test (90°/s), the total work of ankle plantar flexion and dorsiflexion was significantly increased to (56.71±13.26) and (19.75±3.79) J. ③ In right leg stance, RMS (root mean square) of the tibialis anterior and lateral gastrocnemius was decreased significantly; the ankle isokinetic test (90°/s) showed that the RMS of the medial and lateral gastrocnemius was increased from (48.95±13.50) and (33.67±6.41) μV to (59.87±11.46) and (43.73±4.65) μV, respectively. Conclusions Electrical stimulation acupoint massage can optimize the force strategy and improve the stability of the ankle, further improve the postural control ability, promote the recovery of sports ability and avoid sports injuries.

[Objective] To observe the effect of acupoint massage and TCM featured nursing on peripheral facial paralysis. [Method] Randomly divide 90 cases into 2 groups, n=45 for each group; the control group takes general treatment and acupuncture, the observation group is added with facial acupoint massage coordinated with mental counseling, recovery training and other TCM featured nursing, 1 time/d. [Result] After 2~4w of treatment, observe their clinical effects, the results had marked difference. [Conclusion] The cure effect of the observation group was better than common acupuncture group, showing that facial acupoint massage coordinated with TCM featured nursing treating peripheral facial paralysis could promote patients ’early recovery, much reduce the sequelae.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of differentiation acupoint massage on the level of blood pressure control and self-efficacy in the elderly with hypertension with yin-deficiency and yangexcess under the model of empowerment education.Methods 80 elderly with hypertension with yin-deficiency and yang-excess were randomly divided into the intervention group and the control group with 40 patients in each group.Both of them received health education of differentiation acupoint massage consisted of 4 weekly sessions.The intervention group received it under the model of empowerment education whilst the other under the model of the general health education.After 4 weeks of sessions,all patients were followed up for 3 months.The blood pressure value was measured before the sessions and 4 weeks and 3 months after the sessions.The scores of self-efficacy was collected before and 3 months later.Results There were significant differences in the blood pressure,self-efficacy between the two groups after the intervention.Conclusions Differentiation acupoint massage under the model of empowerment education can significantly improve patients'self-efficacy and decrease the level of the blood pressure.

Objective To observe the treatment effect of acupoint massage and auricular point sticking of cowherb seeds on blood pressure of hypertensive patients.Methods 100 cases of hypertensive patients were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,50 cases in each.The observation group was given routine application of antihyportensive drags combined with acupoint massage and auricular point sticking of cowherb seeds.The control group received routine drug therapy.The blood pressure changes were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results The systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure of both groups were lower after treatment compared with those before treatment.The total effective rate of blood pressure control was 98% in the observation group,88% in the control group,which showed no significant difference.Symptom control results showed that the total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group.Conclusions Acupoint massage and auricular point sticking of cowherb seeds in hypertensive patients can be an auxiliary pressure relief means,it can not only effectively lower blood pressure,but show good effect in alleviation of headache,vertigo,irritability.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the clinical effects of treating radiodermatis with acupoint massage and wet compress of Chinese medicine. Methods 104 patients with radiodermatis were randomly recruited into a control group and a treatment group, with 52 patients in each group. The treatment group was treated with acupoint massage plus wet compress of chiense medicines; with the treatment group was externally applied with Kangbao Shaoshang moistening ointment. The result was compared after the treatment. Results The time for easement of pain in the treatment group was obvious reduced than the control group after the treatment. The total effective rate was 96.1% and 57.69% in the treatment group and the control group respectively, the difference showing statistical significance (χ2=27.3, P<0.01). Conclusion It was effective to treat radiodermatitis with acupoint massage and wet compress of Chinese medicine.
