ABSTRACT

These days people are more about how they look and are giving lots of importance to fitness. Aerobic exercise improves cardiovascular adaptations that increases the peak of oxygen consumption and increases the strength. This is more preferred than resistance exercise as it can be done at home. This study was a prospective observational study. The pros were easy to create. It has gathered large data, it is economical and it has quick interpretation. The cons were the homogeneous population and its survey fatigue. To minimize the sampling bias we have to minimize error in questions and avoid loading questions. This study contains 15 self-structured questionnaires which validated the study design, general population, methodology and its survey questionnaire are the internal validity. From the data analysis, the results showed that 95% feel it is good to do aerobics everyday and 5% feel it is not good to do aerobics everyday. 85% prefer walking is a good exercise and 15% prefer walking is not a good exercise. 85% feel aerobics tones our body, 15% feel aerobics does not tone our body. The aim of my study is to compare the effectiveness of aerobic and resistance exercise among the South Indian population

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the effects of green aerobics on serum homocysteine concentration and the morning surge in blood pressure in H-type hypertension patients with ischemic stroke. Methods The 125 patients who suffer from H-type hypertension as well as ischemic stroke were divided into two groups by random digital table method. The control group (60 cases) accepted neurology normal nursing, while the intervention group (65 cases) accepted green aerobics intervention except the neurology normal nursing. The patients′homocysteine level and the morning surge in blood pressure were assessed in two groups. Results Two weeks later, the homocysteine level in the control group was (9.44± 2.07) mmol/L, while the intervention group was (11.62 ± 3.03) mmol/L. The difference between the two groups had statistics significance(t=-5.257, P<0.05). The morning surge in blood pressure was (18.75± 7.51) mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), while the control group was (34.07 ± 2.91) mmHg. The difference between the two groups had statistics significance (t =15.761, P <0.05). Conclusions The green aerobics could effectively lower the homocysteine level and the morning surge in blood pressure of patients who suffer from H-type hypertension as well as ischemic stroke. It was an alternative therapy or assistant therapy without side effects.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Studies have related biochemical changes in the incidence of cardiovascular diseases, and a program of water aerobics is showing as an adjuvant to improve these conditions. Objective: To identify the effect of a training program in exercises made inside the water (aqua aerobics) on the lipid profile of postmenopausal women. Methods: Thirty-three women were divided into experimental group with 22 volunteers who went aqua aerobics training, and control group with 11 volunteers who did not perform any systematic training. Results: The results of the experimental group, pre- and post-test showed a reduction in the variables LDL, triglycerides and total cholesterol. A decrease in HDL, LDL and total cholesterol was observed in the control group. After the intervention, a reduction in triglycerides and VLDL was also observed in both groups. However, there were found no significant differences in the variables in this study. Conclusion: We conclude that aerobic training in aqua aerobics promoted a reduction in the lipid profile of postmenopausal women.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to discuss the real capacity of the Idoso, Natação e Saúde Project (PINS) [Elderly,Swimming and Health] from UFSM, to encourage the practice of exercises, as well as to characterize the biopsychosocial well-being of the elderly participants. The sample consisted of 132 elderly, from 60 to 84 years, 84.1% were female and 15.9% were ale, all gymnastics practicers for at least six months. The used instrument was the adapted questionnaire (BOAS, 1987). Data analysis was applied to the platform Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 13.0). The highest concentration, 75.7%, is aged from 60 to 74 years, considered old-young. Before the project, 15.2% of the participants had practiced water activities, while during holiday periods and 18.9% participated in strikes elsewhere. Since physical activity 60.6% said parallel conduct, 67.4% were aware of (PIN) through friends, new friends made 98.5% and 97.7% say they talk with colleagues before or after school; 22% participate for a period exceeding five years. The main reason for participation was 83.3% health, while 72.8% consider their health as good/very good. The optimism is also present in relation to quality of life, since 90.1% considered their quality of life as good/very good. The project achieved the goal of encouraging the habit of physical activity on its participants, as well as helping to combat the lack of social contacts that reaches this age, giving them an environment to interact and form new friendships. However, we also detected that the habit of physical activity is closely linked to structural conditions offered by society to those individuals. Thus, as a water aerobics activity that depends on a specific physical structure, the elderly with low purchasing power are more difficult to have access to it when it is not made available by public means.
