ABSTRACT

Marine fungi are important members of the marine microbiome, which have been paid growing attention by scientists in recent years. The secondary metabolites of marine fungi have been reported to contain rich and diverse compounds with novel structures (Chen et al., 2019). Aspergillus terreus, the higher level marine fungus of the Aspergillus genus (family of Trichocomaceae, order of Eurotiales, class of Eurotiomycetes, phylum of Ascomycota), is widely distributed in both sea and land. In our previous study, the coral-derived A. terreus strain C23-3 exhibited potential in producing other biologically active (with antioxidant, acetylcholinesterase inhibition, and anti-inflammatory activity) compounds like arylbutyrolactones, territrems, and isoflavones, and high sensitivity to the chemical regulation of secondary metabolism (Yang et al., 2019, 2020; Nie et al., 2020; Ma et al., 2021). Moreover, we have isolated two different benzaldehydes, including a benzaldehyde with a novel structure, from A. terreus C23-3 which was derived from Pectinia paeonia of Xuwen, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, China.

ABSTRACT

@#In this paper,a new method for catalytic synthesis of chalcones from substituted acetophenone and substituted benzaldehyde in polyphosphoric acid/concentrated sulfuric acid system was proposed,and the reaction conditions were optimized. The results showed that the optimized reaction conditions were determined as polyphosphoric acid of 5 equiv. and concentrated sulfuric acid of 20 equiv.,with 1,4-dioxane as solvent at 90 °C for 2 h under nitrogen protection. Twelve chalcones were synthesized with good yield. All target compounds were characterized by IR,HRMS,1H NMR and 13C NMR.

ABSTRACT

A novel series of structurally diverse 5-Substituted 1-Aryl-2,3-diphenyl imidazoles (2a-j) was synthesized by treatment of benzoin (1) with 4-hydroxy aniline, substituted benzaldehydes and NH4OAc in polyethylene glycol (PEG-400) under reflux condition in excellent yields. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by spectral and elemental analysis and screened for their antioxidant properties by employing three in vitro assays like 2,2–diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay, 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) assay and iron reducing power assay. Ascorbic acid was used as a standard antioxidant and the comparative study with newly synthesized compounds was also done. Among the analogues compounds 2e, 2g and 2j bearing hydroxy and methoxy groups on 2-substituted phenyl moiety respectively showed predominant antioxidant activity.

ABSTRACT

Twelve new chalcones were synthesized by claisen-schmidid condensation and studies for their toxicity to fish. Some of the chalcones have exhibited moderate activity. The structures of synthetic compounds have been characterized by analytical and spectral data.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the durability and economic value of o-phthalaldehyde(OPA)and glutaraldehyde as endoscope disinfectors in continuous use of cleaning machine.Methods Compare the maximal number of endoseopes which could be disinfected by the two disinfectors at its minimal effective concentration,as well as the corresponding costs.The cost-effectiveness of two disinfectors were evaluated with Revenue-Incremental Cost Analysis.Results The number of endoscopes disinfected by OPA were 1.56 times as compared with glutaraldehyde,and an additional 2.95 yuan could be gained with OPA at the cost of 1 yuan.Conclusion When cleaning machine is full loaded,OPA is more durable than glutaraldehyde,and Can gain more benefit at the same cost.
