ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the influence on clinic symptom and pulmonary function in asthmatic patients treated with polysaccharide nucleicacid of calmette-guerin(BCG-PSN) injection in asthmatic patients.Methods 30 cases(treatment group) with additional BCG-PSN injection and 30 cases(control group) with only normal treatment were studied in contrast.They were observed in pulmonary function and clinic symptom before and after treatment.Results Symptom and pulmonary function improved in both groups.The validity rate in treatment group was 96.7%,and the control group was 80%.Conclusion BCG-PSN could alleviate the inflammation of bronchus and excellent effects of BCG-PSN injection in treatment on clinic symptom and pulmonary function of asthmatic patients were found.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of Mahong decoction on serum VEGF and b-FGF of rat model bronchus asthma airway remolding. Method Forty SD rats randomly divided into four groups: blank group, asthma group, hormone group, Chinese medicine group. The asthmatic model was established by sensitization and challenge with ovalbumin, and the rats in the hormone group and Chinese medicine group conferred hormone and Chinese medicine before the challenge. ELISA was used to measure the level of serum VEGF and b-FGF. Results The serum VEGF and b-FGF in asthma group was higher than in other groups (P0.05). Conclusion Mahong decoction may control the level of serum VEGF and b-FGF of rat model of bronchus asthma airway remolding, which has the similar result with hormone.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Da Lat, a city at 1500m above sea level, the average temperature there is 180C, with warm weather from January to April and the rainy season lasting from May to December. Respiratory condition and seasonal allergy is commonplace among the population of this area. Objectives: This study aims to determine the prevalence of asthma and asthma-like symptoms in Da lat and to learn about the environmental influences, patient\u2019s attitudes toward diagnosis, treatment and general knowledge about asthma. Subjects and method: After an extensive publicity campaign by local television, the subjects were randomly selected for interviews. When asthma or asthma-like symptoms were identified, all parts of the questionnaire were completed and a more detailed visit was arranged with the patients, for clinical examination, spirometry and skin tests for important allergens. Results:9984 individuals were interviewed; of whom 243 were identified as having asthma or asthma-like symptoms, giving a prevalence of 2.4 percent. Average age was 48+/-27 years, age at the onset of asthma was 25+/-22 years; Hospitalization had been required in 18.3 percent of patients during 2003. Daily asthma treatment was used by only 17 percent of patients. 34 percent used inhalers and 6 percent used nebulisation. 52.3 percent had associated atopic features. With Polyvalent positive prick tests, but no one reacted to a pollen mixture. General knowledge about asthma was lacking. Conclusion: Results showed a low prevalence of asthma and asthma-like symptoms in Da Lat, the study highlights the need for further patient education and for preventive interventions for asthma in this region.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To study the therapeutic effects and the related mechanism of Pingchuanling(PCL) on bronchial asthma in rats. METHODS: The rats asthma model was established by ovalbumin(OVA) sensitization.The SD rats were divided into the normal control group,asthma model group,dexamethasone group,low and higher dose of PCL group.Eos in serum and BALF were taken count of and tissue slice dyed with HE were observed.In addition Fas,Bcl-2 expression in lung tissue were examined by immunotisssuchemical technology. RESULTS: Eos count in serum and BALF of asthma model group were increased significantly as compared with that in normal animals.Asthma induced delitescence also were shorten obviously,the differences between the groups were all significant(P
