ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the characteristics of risk factors, coronary angiography (CAG) and cardiac func tions in young patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods A total of 37 cases of young patients with acute myocardial infarction were chosen, and 41 cases of middle-aged and aged patients with acute myocardial infarction who were admitted in our hospital in the same period were chosen. The differences of risk factors, infarction position, coro-nary angiography infarction and heart functions between the youth group and the middle-aged and aged group were analyzed. Results Males accounted for 92.1%in the young group. Smoking, family history of coronary heart disease and high triglycerides (TG) were independent risk factors for the youth group. Coronary artery disease of the youth group compared with that of the middle-aged and aged group was mainly characterized by a single branch disease (55.3%), and that of the middle-aged and aged group was mainly characterized by triple vessel lesions (43.9%). And infarct-re lated artery anterior in the youth group occurred mainly in the descending branch (71.7%). It was found that cardiac functions of the middle-aged and aged group were better than those of the youth group by cardiac angiography (P<0.05). Conclusion Acute myocardial infarction in youth group mainly occurs in men with several risk factors and coronary an-giography single vessel disease is more common by coronary angiography with no significant change in cardiac structure and functions. Strengthening the MI education, early detection and intervention may improve prognosis.

ABSTRACT

To study the effects of astragaloside Ⅳ, which was obtained from Astragalus membranaceus Bge., on myocardiac dynamics and cardiac function on normal and cardiac depressant rat. Methods Left ventricular pressure (LVP) and differential value of dp/dt were recorded by left ventricular catherization to observe the effect of 1 mg/kg iv astragaloside Ⅳ on normal and cardiac depressant rat induced by iv 0.75 mg/kg of Propanolol. Results Astragaloside Ⅳ decreased heart rate slightly, and showed inotropic activity by increasing dp/dtmax significantly, with improvement of cardiac diastolic function. It shortened the time constant (T) and caused no obvious change on the tension time index (TTI) in normal rat. These results suggested that astragaloside Ⅳ did not increase cardiac oxygen consumption while exerting its inotropic effect. Conclusion Astragaloside Ⅳ can improve both cardiac systolic and diastolic functions, and may be used as a candidate for the treatment of cardiac disfunction.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To detect the changes of cardiac functions of septic mice in the early stage of sepsis. METHODS:Health male Kunming mice were used in the study. The techniques of 2D,Mmode and Doppler echocardiography were applied to evaluate the cardiac functions before cecal ligation and puncture(CLP) as baseline and at time points of 12 h,24 h,36 h,48 h and 168 h after CLP. The mice survived for 168 h(7 d) were considered as survivals. RESULTS:Compared to the baseline at the time point of 24 h after CLP,the blood volumes of heart return decreased significantly in the early stage of sepsis induced by CLP. LVEDV reduced by 46%. Notable compensatory responses of the hearts in septic mice were observed, especially the systolic functions,in which LVEF and LVFS increased by 27% and 39% ,respectively. However, the compensatory responses of diastolic function were weaker than the systoles. E/A ratio and EDT decreased by 30% and 25% respectively at the time point of 24 h. CONCLUSION:The strong compensatory cardiac functions are one of the factors for supporting the septic animal to survive. Protection of the cardiac functions especially the diastoles is important in the treatment of septic patients.
