ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the application of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) technology for casualty evacuation in disaster rescue. Methods The research status of casualty evacuation using unmanned aerial vehicles was described in the disaster medical rescue, and several UAVs involved in casualty evacuation were introduced.According to different dynamic structures, casualty evacuation UAVs were divided into four types, such as traditional rotor helicopter,multi-rotor aircraft, ducted fan aircraft, compound aircraft.Meanwhile, the load capacity and flight speed of involved UAVs were analyzed. Results The advantages of casualty evacuation UAVs in the previous researches related were summarized, with the problems and technical difficulty discussed.Furthermore, the development tendencies of casualty evacuation UAVs were predicted. Conclusion Casualty evacuation UAVs can transport the wounded to the professional medical institutions outside of the disaster scene instead of rescue crews,to reduce the casualty rate of rescuers and avoid secondary damage of the injured personnel, with accurate point to point casualty evacuation.

ABSTRACT

Based on new material and technic, the design of general structure, stretcher fixture, vibration isolation, carriage baffle fixture, ergonomical parameters selection for a new kind of stretcher suspension named added equipment for transporting the wounded on the truck is carried out. The results of mechanical performance experiment, reliability experiment, road adaptability test, road comfort test, application experiment by troops indicate that the added equipment is safe, reliable, convenient for use and fairly comfortable to persons lying on it. Thus a new kind of equipment fit for the army to transport the wounded on the truck under the field condition is developed.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To design a simulative model for the forecast and optimal placement of mass casualty evacuation assets. Methods: An operation research module named the location selection problem was introduced in this study. The probabilistic location set covering problem was chosen as the theoretical model for optimal placement of mass casualty evacuation assets.Several indeterminate factors were analyzed in details, including the availability;capacity and velocity and effective work time of evacuation assets. The ideal statistical distributions were determined by the characteristics of these variables. Results: According to the principle of Monte Carlo simulation and based on the probabilistic location set covering problem, random numbers fitting theoretical probabilistic distributions were generated to simulate those indeterminate factors, based on which a simulative model for optimal placement of casualty evacuation assets was designed. Conclusion: This simulative model may be used as a basis for further development of a computer-assisted program and as a reference for medical administration commanders at different levels.
