ABSTRACT

High dilutions (HD) of drugs used in homeopathy are mostly too dilute to contain original drug molecules. But evidences support their specific biological and therapeutic effects. The reason behind this is thought to be water structure characteristic of the original drug. Spectroscopic studies indicate that the specific water structure in HDs can be resolved into free water molecules, hydrogen bonding strength of water hydroxyl, number of hydrogen bonds and clathrate hydrate crystals (CHC). HDs are prepared in EtOH water solution by serial dilution and mechanical agitation, and are called potencies. The objective of the present study is to further confirm the presence of CHCs in the two potencies of three drugs. Electronic spectra of the HDs of the potencies indicate two broad peaks and marked difference in intensities of absorption. Furior Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectra of the test potencies and their control show difference in intensity shift and contour shape of OH stretching and bending bands. All the experimental data indicate the presence of CHCs in varying amounts in the test potencies.

ABSTRACT

The critical problem to be solved in the study of transdermal drug delivery system is to improve the transdermal penetration of drugs through the skin. Most essential oils from Chinese material medica, considered as a large class of penetration enhancers, possess enhanced percutaneous absorption, minor skin irritation, certain therapeutic efficacy, and a synergistic effect with transdermal drugs. However, the essential oils have poor solubility and unstable problems. Some special preparations, including patch, clathrate, gel plasters, gels, microemulsion, and so on, can increase the solubility of the essential oils, improve the effect of permeability, and can significantly boost the stability of the essential oils. In this paper, the techniques of the related preparations on essential oil from Chinese materia medica should be reviewed, and the research direction of the later stage should be discussed.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To prepare the Carboprost methyl-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) clathrate sublingual tab-lets,and conduct quality evaluation. METHODS:Wet granulation method was used to prepare Carboprost methyl-HP-β-CD clath-rate sublingual tablets. Using the appearance, calving time, wetting time and main drug content as investigation indexes, mass ratio of mannitol-lactose,povidone volume fraction and amount of low-substituted hydroxypropylcellulose(L-HPC)as factors,orthogo-nal test was used to screen the formulation. The calving time, wetting time, main drug content, content uniformity, dissolution de-gree of sublingual tablets with optimal formulation were evaluated. RESULTS:The optimal formulation was as follow as 78.82 mg of carboprost methyl-HP-β-CD clathrate (containing carboprost methyl 1 mg),100 mg of mannitol-lactose (mass ratio of 9:1) mixed powder, appropriate amount of 2% povidone solution,30 mg of L-HPC,and 1 mg of magnesium stearate. The calving time of prepared 3 batches of sublingual tablets was(25.30±3.21)-(26.53±2.69)s;wetting time was(64.65±8.07)-(65.54±7.21)s;main drug content was (96.13 ± 0.43)%-(97.06 ± 0.82)%;content uniformity was 5.95-7.68;the cumulative dissolution degree within 10 min was more than 50%,and it can completely dissolute within 30 min. CONCLUSIONS:Carboprost methyl- HP-β-CD clathrate sublingual tablets, which are up to requirements, are prepared successfully.

ABSTRACT

During the study of mushroom flora in Hongneung Arboretum, Ileodictyon gracile was confirmed as new to Korea and described based on morphological and microscopic characteristics in here. This species has subhypogeous, clathrate structure, and obovoid spores. The clathrate structures have 4~12 polygonal meshes.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the best preparation technique of compound Thallus laminaria granules volatile oil-?-cyclodextrin clathrate and examine the stability of the elathrate. Methods The orthogonal design method was used to optimize the formulation. The yeild of the volatile oil and the content of the clathrate were used as the test target. Results The best preparation process was as follows:?-cyclodextrin:compound Thallus laminaria=12:1(g?mL~(-1)),at 50~60℃for 2 hours.Making distillation twice while adding water to the first decoction, steaming 1h after boiling;A_2 B_1 was the best extraction scheme. Conclusion The preparation process can be a scheme to obtain the clathrate with high content of effective component, which can be used in the preparation of the clathrate.
