ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the bacteriostatic effect of single herbs, traditional complex prescription and ultra-micro powder of Qiweibaizhusan. Methods The inhibiting zone and MIC of single herb and compound of Qiweibaizhusan on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Eubacterium aerofaciens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella sp, Saccharomyces cerevisiaes and Candida glabrata were measured by filter paper method. Results The growth of the tested bacteria and yeast except Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella sp were inhibited by ginseng. The antibacterial effect of licorice was the best, and only Pseudomonas aeruginosa’s growth was not inhibited by licorice. The growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Eubacterium aerofaciens were inhibited by Agastache rugosa. The growth of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Eubacterium aerofaciens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were inhibited by Poria cocos. Only Eubacterium aerofaciens’s growth was inhibited by Radix aucklandiae and fried Atractylodes macrocephala. The growth of all the bacteria and yeast were not inhibited by Radix puerariae. The growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Eubacterium aerofaciens and Salmonella sp were inhibited by the traditional decoction and ultra-micro powder of complex prescription of Qiweibaizhusan, and all the MIC of ultra-micro powder were smaller than the traditional decoction. Conclusion The main antibacterial component of Qiweibaizhusan was ginseng and licorice. The inhibiting effect of ultra-micro powder on bacteria was better than traditional decoction of Qiweibaizhusan in vitro.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To establish a mathematical model for the dissolution kinetics of the components of the closed diffusion system of Chinese complex prescription, and to study and analyze the parameters of the extraction kinetics of catalpol,an active component in rehmanniae decoction of Liuwei dihuang decoction. METHDOS:The mathematic modeling method was applied to the extraction process of the traditional Chinese medicine; the mathematic model of the extraction process of the Chinese medicine was established based on the extraction principle and Fick law,and the function expression was derived from the fitting of the mathematic model and analysis of parameters, then the model was applied to the study of the kinetic parameters of the catalpol in rehmanniae decoction of Liuwei dihuang decoction. RESULTS:The analytic solution of the dissolution concentration of components consisting of 3 e in exponential form and the analytical method of parameters were obtained in this study. The optimal grain size of the herbal medicine was 60 meshes.Under this condition, the maximal peak time(tmax)of catalpol was 195.1 min;the peak concentration(Cmax) was 0.012 23 mg?mL-1;the maximal extraction rate(P) was 72.95%,and the loss rate(D) was 7.62%. CONCLUSION:The dissolution of the components of the closed soluble diffusion system of Chinese complex prescription fitted linear kinetic mathematical model, and the parameters can be derived from the expression relation of the dissolution concentration.

ABSTRACT

In order to sum up the antineoplasmic active components of Holothuria, we studied the literatures in recent years. The results showed that Holothuria contained a variety of anti-tumor active ingredient, such as Holothurian Glycosaminoglycan and Holothurin. These anti-tumor active components played important roles in different stages of tumor developmment, progression and metastasis. The discovery of new anti-tumor active ingredients may be helpful for the application of Holothuria in clinical tumor treatment.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo study the protection of Chinese herbs on the ischemic brain of rats. Methods 75 Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups, Group 1 for false operation. For the other four groups, the common carotid artery was exposed then was ligatured and cut off, Group 2 for model. From the 20th hour after operation on,Group 3, 4, 5 were fed with complex prescription of Chinese medicine named Prescription 1, 2 and 3 once a day respectively. 3 hours after taking medicine, Groups 2-5 were put in the hypoxia environment for 1 hours, then taking the medicine for 7 days. On the 7th day after operation, the blood was taken from R. atria then the rats were killed and the whole right brains were cut off. Malonaldehyde (MDA), notric oxide synthetase (NOS) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the brain tissue and serum, and calcium in the brain were measured respectively. ResultsThe three prescriptions can decrease the quantity of MDA both in brain tissue and serum and the calcium in brain tissue(P<0.05-0.001).Prescription 1 can enhance the activity of SOD in brain tissue while the others can decrease the activity of NOS. The hippocampus cells show tidy, and the number of the necrotic cells decrease greatly among them, Groups 4 and 5 are better than Group 3.Conclusions Prescriptions 1-3 can protect the brain tissue of the rat form ischemic brain injury.
