ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the imaging findings of the sex cord-stromal tumors of ovary. Methods The pathologically confirmed CT and MRI images of 69 patients with sex cord-stromal tumors of ovary were collected retrospectively. Results Among 69 cases of ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors, there were fibrothecoma 3 1 cases, thecal cell tumor 1 9 cases, fibroma 1 2 cases, granulosa cell tumors 5 cases and stromal sarcomas 2 cases.CT and MRI had detected all the 69 tumors. Most of the tumors (52 cases, accounting for 75%)were presented as mainly solid tumors combined with cystic changes, some (13 cases, accounting for 19%)were presented as all solid and a few cases (4 cases, accounting for 6%)were presented as cystic tumors. The tumors were round or oval, with clear boundary, which showed low density, and either no obvious enhancement or mild delayed enhancement on CT scan. The solid part of tumors showed low signal on T2WI and slightly higher signal on diffusion weighted imaging(DWI).Conclusion The sex cord-stromal tumors of ovary are mainly solid tumors combined with cystic changes, with clear boundary, either with no obvious enhancement or mild delayed enhancement and low signal on T2WI and slightly higher signal on DWI.The study shows that the above imaging features are helpful to improve the diagnostic accuracy of sex cord-stromal tumors of ovary.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the imaging manifestations and clinical characteristics of Askin tumor. Methods 12 cases of Askin tumor confirmed by surgically and histopathologically were included in this study. The MSCT signs and clinical data were summarized. Results In 12 cases of Askin tumor,7 cases located in the chest wall;7 case were hospitalised with rapid enlargementd painful lump(58.3%,7/12).9 cases were performed surgery and postoperative radio chemotherapy,6 patients experienced metastatic or recurrent tumors during the following year(66.7%,6/9).Askin tumor often occurred in the chest-lung junction region, had the diameters of 2.0-13.0 cm,11 cases showed inhomogeneous density (91.7%,11/12), 1 case showed calcification (8.3%,1/12), ill-defined margin(100%,12/12),12 cases showed intense but inhomogeneous enhancement following contrast administrationin (100%,12/12),11 cases had the feature of pleura invasion (91.7%,11/12), 9 cases with pleural effusion(75.0%,9/12), 1 case with swollen lymph nodes in mediastinum(8.3%,1/12), and 4 cases with lytic lesion of adjacent bone(33.3%,4/12).Conclusion Askin tumor often occurrs in the chest-lung junction region with rapid enlargementd painful lump as the primary symptom;the tumor show the infiltration diffuse growth;calcification and adjacent lymph node metastasis is not very common.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the application of MSCT perfusion imaging (PI)in diagnosing solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN).Methods 60 patients with SPN diagnosed by pathology were divided into two groups.Study group (SG)included 32 patients with lung cancer, and control group (CG)included 28 patients with benign nodules. The patients of two groups underwent 64-slice spiral CT PI and routine contrast-enhanced scan (ES).PI parameters were compared between SG and CG.The diagnosis value of PI was compared with that of ES.Results Compared with CG,SG had markedly higher BV,BF,PS and lower MTT (all P <0.01).Compared with ES, PI was more sensitive in detecting lung cancer and had a higher accuracy in diagnosing SPN (P <0.01).Conclusion MSCT PI plays an important role in diagnosing SPN.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the imaging features of solitary brain metastatic adenocarcinoma and improve the diagnostic level of the disease. Methods Imaging features of solitary brain metastatic adenocarcinoma of 5 1 cases confirmed by surgery and pathology were analyzed retrospectively. Results The locations of lesions included:supratentorial(33),infratentorial(9),sellar region(4),cliv-us(3),foramen magnum region(1)and skull(1).The tumor size:maximum:72 mm×45 mm×60mm,minimum:13 mm×7 mm ×6 mm.The shape:similar round(25),irregular(22)and dumbbell(4).The solid lesions of the tumors showed equal signal inten-sity or slightly low signal intensity on T1 WI,and equal signal intensity or slightly high signal intensity on T2 WI,heterogeneous en-hancement,mixed density on CT.The peritumor edema degree:no (10),mild(1),medium(1 7),severe(23).In the contrast imaging, 1 5/25 cases with adjacent enhanced and thick meninges,5/25 cases with nodular enhanced meninges. Conclusion The solitary brain metastatic adenocarcinoma has certain imaging characterics and is contribute to differentiate with intrabrain primary tumor.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of low-dose volume perfusion imaging with 320-detector CT in differentia-ting solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs).Methods 130 patients with 130 SPNs (79 malignant tumors,1 6 active inflammations,1 6 benign nodules and 1 9 chronic inflammations)underwent contrast-enhanced dynamic volume perfusion CT prospectively.50ml of contrast medium with iodine concentration of 370 mg I/mL was injected at a flow rate of 5 mL/s,and the scan began at 0 second or 4 seconds after the bolus injection.20 or 21 intermittent low-dose volume acquisitions were made with 2 s intervals, and the total ac-quisition time was 38 s or 40 s.Post-procession was performed using a perfusion software on the CT (Body Perfusion,Dual-input single compartment mode). The perfusion parameters (PF,BF,PPI),T-DC and TPF were measured or calculated, and then as-sessed.Results PF and PPI of active inflammation nodules showed significant higher value than those of the other three kinds of nodules, and there were significant differences in PF and PPI between active inflammation nodules and other kinds of nodules. The value of BF in malignant nodules was higher than that in the other three kinds of nodules, however no statistic significant difference in PPI was found between malignant and chronic inflammation nodules. The value of TPF in malignant and active inflammation nod-ules was higher than that in benign and chronic nodules, and there were statistic significant differences between malignant and active nodules and chronic ones.Six types of T-DC were displayed on SPNs:malignant, benign and chronic nodules showed a variety of T-DC types, and active inflammatory nodules showed only one type-typeⅠ.Conclusion Low-dose volume perfusion technique with 320-detector row CT can provide abundant information about blood flow of SPNs,and it may be regarded as an important technique in the differential diagnosis of SPNs.

ABSTRACT

Folding of the choroid, Bruchs membrane, and the overlying retina may occur in a variety of ocular and orbital diseases and after certain surgical procedures. A 34-year-old man experienced the decreased visual acuity and the protrusion and displacement in the right eye for at least 4 years. The protrusion of the patient was 13mm in the right eye and 6mm in the left eye with the aid of Hertels exophthalmometer. The right eye appeared downward deviation about 15 prism. The tumor located outside the muscle cone in the computed tomography and ultrasonography seemed to make the large choroidal folds involving the macula region. The retinal pigment epithelial atrophy was noted along long-standing choroidal folds. The tumor was removed by the lateral orbitotomy. The size of tumor was 20 x 15x 10mm. The postoperative protrusion was 6mm in the both eye. After removal of tumor, changes in the corneal refraction, visual acuity, and choroidal folds with the retinal pigment epithelial atrophy did not occur in comparison with the preoperative state.
