ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the anatomical distribution of complex facial injuries (woun-ds ≥8 cm in length and involving two or more anatomical areas) in children, and to explore the effect of plastic and aesthetic surgery. Methods:A total of 157 children with complex facial injury were admitted to the Plastic Surgery Department of Hangzhou Plastic Surgery Hospital from January 2019 to June 2021, including 94 males and 63 females, aged from 2 to 18 years, with an average age of 6.2 years. The wound length was 8-20 cm, with an average length of 10.3 cm. Plastic surgery techniques were used to design different primary repair schemes according to specific wound conditions, and early postoperative scar prevention and treatment were carried out. Results:In 157 cases, 331 anatomical areas were involved, most of which were buccal (75 sites). The injury caused by sharp instruments (glass, ceramic tile, cutting tools, etc.) ranked the first place with 78 cases. All patients were followed up for more than 3 months, and the results showed 146 cases of primary healing, 11 cases of delayed healing, 8 cases of scar hyperplasia, 149 cases of good morphological and functional recovery. Conclusions:The advantages of using plastic and cosmetic surgery techniques to treat complex facial injuries lie in the emphasis on anatomical and functional reduction and tension-reducing suture, combined with a variety of postoperative scar prevention and treatment measures, and the results are satisfactory.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of the intermittent suture and the cosmetic suture in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods: A clinical data of 48 patients with knee osteoarthritis, who underwent initial TKA between January 2017 and April 2018, was retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 23 patients underwent intermittent suture (group A) and 25 patients underwent cosmetic suture (group B). There was no significant difference in gender, age, body mass index, disease duration, degrees of varus and valgus deformities, knee society score (KSS), visual analogue scale (VAS) score, and levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) in serum before operation between the two groups ( P>0.05). KSS scores at 1 and 6 months after operation were used to assess the knee function. VAS scores at 1, 3, and 5 days after operation were used to assess the pain degree of knee. Levels of IL-6, PCT, CRP, and ESR in serum at 1 day and 1 month after operation were recorded to evaluate the risk of periprosthetic infection. Likert score at 6 months after operation was used to evaluate the satisfaction of incision. The hospitalization time after operation was also recorded. Results: All patients were followed up 7- 17 months (mean, 11.3 months). There was no significant difference in hospitalization time after operation between two groups ( t=-1.907, P=0.063). The Likert score in group A was significantly lower than that in group B ( t=-2.196, P=0.033). The VAS score, KSS clinical score and KSS functional score at different time points after operation were significantly better than those before operation in two groups ( P0.05). There was no significant difference in the levels of IL-6, PCT, CRP, and ESR between the two groups at different time points after operation ( P>0.05). Conclusion: Cosmetic suture is superior to intermittent suture in incision appearance and pain management, but there is no significant difference in short-term joint function and risk of periprosthetic infection after TKA.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical effect of subcutaneous negative pressure suction cosmetic suture with anti L incision in liver surgery. Methods A total of 140 patients who received liver surgery in general surgery department of our hospital from March 2015 to April 2016 were randomly selected,of which 70 cases received cosmetic suture with negative pressure drainage (observation group),the other 70 cases treated with conventional suture(control group). The repair times, the healing of the incision of two groups were observed and analyzed. Results Compared with the control group, the repair time and hospital stays of patients in observation group were significantly shorter than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01).Conclusion Cosmetic suture with negative pressure drainage is effective to shorten the repair time, reduce the incidence of incision fat liquefaction and infection, while ensuring the aesthetic level of the incision.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of cosmetic suture technique applied in organs of facial emergency surgery. Methods There were 25 patients who were admitted in our hospital from August 2009 to December 2013. After anatomical reduction and functional restoration, they were given surgery with cosmetic suture technique on the base of debridement. Results All of the patients a-chieved good surgical result, the satisfaction is 100%. After the first stage of operation, 23 patients of them were of no obvious scar and good function recovery. The other 2 patiens also got good effects after secondary surgery. Conclusion Cosmetic suture technique pay attaintion to anatomical and functional restoration. It is of equisite technique, slight injury, less scar after operation and it can maximumly get close to the normal tissue structures and achieve the objective of beauty.
